Catherine
/ Gutter Girl by JAED
Released By Instant Karma On 12 December (Download Only)
Track Listing:
1. Catherine
2. Gutter Girl
This is the first single by this Australian / English trio and is a taste of things to come from their album ‘Dirty Days’ that is due to be released in early 2006.
Vanessa has a strong typically ‘Old Skool Punk’ voice, which is great to hear and her early musical influences clearly shine through.
The band obviously have a wicked sense of humour mixed with the ability to bring real life experiences into peoples faces and make them stop and think.
Many people will be able to relate to the story they tell and when mixed with the great vocals and blinding guitars and drums it produces a real winning combination.
1. Catherine
Starts with a very loud laugh then
blasts straight into some really catchy funny vocals. It’s a shame this
track is only 45 seconds long, but it is a great launching point to give you
a taste of the great things to come from this band.
With lines like ‘ Catherine we hate you, we think you are so judgmental,
you think that we’re all junkies, but you don’t wash your undies’
it just streams on with loads more witty lines explaining why they hate ‘Catherine’.
Great stuff.
2. Gutter Girl
Obviously written from true-life experiences, the lyrics are incredibly powerful. They paint a very vivid picture of life on the streets for a junkie.
This track is the tale of a girl living in the gutter, about being in pools of blood and vomit and throwing up in the river. Not very inspiring stuff you may think? But when they are added to the great riffs and blinding drums they produce a winning track. Great guitar playing with and vocal harmonies are produced from start to finish with a very catchy, punchy chorus line.
This track is going to do very well in the UK.
