Coldseed are a new side project act featuring Thomen Stauch (Savage Circus, ex-Blind Guardian) and Björn "Speed" Strid (Soilwork). The band has members reigning from all over the world from Germany, Sweden and Spain. What can people expect from this project? Time to find out.

'Completion Makes the Tragedy' which is the title of the album is certainly not your average run of the mill modern metal album. On first listen, it is hard to pinpoint the genre. There are progressive elements, melo-death elements amongst others. The Soilwork influences from Björn are apparent on this album. The vocals are arguably more melodic than that of Soilwork's but of course, they can be harsh in places. The album's genre starts to become more apparent as the album plods on, although it is still cloudy. There are now small hints of industrial metal and even smaller hints of nu-metal as well as progressive metal and melo-death metal.

The album starts off with a mid-tempo, plodding track called 'My Affliction'. Perhaps this is not the best song that could open the album, although it has it's moments, for example, the melodic acoustic section is a great prime example of what to expect as the album marches on. 'Democracy Lesson' is the second track on the album; this track is arguably much more pleasing to the ear than the latter track. There are lots of hooks to be found on this track. The chorus will most likely prove to be the highlight for most. Some trademark Soilwork elements here.

However, 'Completion Makes the Tragedy' does not just focus on plod along mid-tempo songs. The tracks where the Soilwork inspiration is more apparent would be 'Five More To Fix', 'Low' and the title track, just to name a few.

'Completion Makes The Tragedy' is a stellar album with something that will hopefully please a lot of metal fans in one way or another with melodic death metal, progressive metal with tiny hints of nu-metal and industrial. Whilst this album may be decent, I think most people would agree that it is however, not good enough for Bjorn and Thomen to put this band in front of Savage Circus and Soilwork.
