The Society For The Recovery Of Persons Apparently Dead EP by Nurse

Track listing:

1. Days of incredible greatness
2. Impact burn
3. Balance in the hanging
4. Malv

1. Love the intro, a quiet beginning before it explodes with heavy guitar riffs and drum beats. The sound of this reminds me very much of Placebo, just heavier. Great clear vocals and overall a very catchy track . The track concludes with some ‘machine’ gunning on the guitars and incredible loud drumming.

2. Belting guitar riffs open this track , they invade the speakers from every angle and really bounce around your head from left to right and back again. Softer vocals (most of the time) than the previous track but the instruments are louder and heavier. A real metal lovers track but without the inaudible screaming. 5 minutes and 13 seconds of pure head shaking, foot tapping pleasure.

3. Quite a haunting almost ‘Goth’ sound this time but still retaining that pure metal sound that has been achieved by great use of heavy pounding drums and electrifying guitar riffs. The vocals, once again, are pure, clean and incredibly sexy xx

4. A change of tempo now for the final track on the Ep, We are back to the ‘Placebo’ sound here (which isn’t a bad thing by any means) but with the great heavy, metal backing. Nice mixing and great guitar strumming. The mid section of this track is quite soft and floaty with gentle drum beats and nice vocal harmonisation. The beats pick up in the final 30 seconds and the guitars and drums get heavier to build into a great dramatic ending. I think this is my favourite track of all .

This band are destined for greatness, I can’t wait to see them play live.
It’s very hard to believe that they haven’t been recording for years as their style is so well tuned with not a note out of place. It would be impossible to try and categorise their sound as they don’t fit into any of the mainstream genres that seem to be floating around these days. Quite simply, they are what they are, and they play how they play and produce a sound that it uniquely theirs.
I challenge anyone to listen to their music and not end up loving it.
A great explosive Ep that can only be a positive indication of the ‘best selling’ album that really must follow as soon as possible !
