Picture this ……. We are waiting for our taxi in the lobby of the hotel after doing the interview with Dave and Tobin. Dave arrives to get in their bus to go to sound check and says that we can listen to the album while we are waiting as he has it on his iPod, he goes to put it on and our taxi arrives. He seemed disappointed that we wouldn’t hear it so half jokingly we say to him that he can get in our taxi and we’ll listen to it on the way to the venue. Suprisingly he then turns to his manager and says that he is getting a lift with us and he will see them there. So we climb into the taxi and plug one earpiece each into our ears as Dave starts the tracks. We only managed to listen to 6 tracks before arriving at the venue and this is what we thought. Track 1. To Be Loved. |
All the tracks are very
different in sound and really do range from the ballad like ‘Forever’
to the upbeat and rocky ‘To Be Loved’ with the closing track
(Dave’s favourite!) Roses On My Grave which is a slow mellow track
with very deep lyrics that is a fantastic ending song.
Just from the 6 tracks we heard it is clear to see that this is going to be a fantastic album and the sounds range from stadium rock to really meaningful slow tracks. One thing that is consistant throughout though is the feeling that all these tracks are really written from the heart and contain a part of the real lives of each of the band members, whether it be good times or bad, these songs are real life and many people will be able to identify with what is being said in the lyrics. In our opinion this album is
a trip back to the real roots of the band and is written for themselves
and not for a commercial reason, they are not trying to fit in with
whats popular at the moment, they are being themselves and writing what
feels right to them, and believe me, the result is a mind blowing roller
coaster of emotions that have ended with a killer album that could easily
prove to be their best work yet. Roll on September 12th ! |
