themselves a copy of this album, the sound is so varied and diverse that I believe there is something for everyone here. A true showcase of a great band and a very welcome return of the true ‘Korn’ sound. 10/10

Track 1 TWISTED TRANSISTOR
You are taken into this track with a squelching guitar and drum beat before the vocal kicks in with it’s uniquely distinctive sound. This really is an infectious track that stays in your head all day
The guitars shift from the ‘metal’ sound to the dance like riffs that you really wouldn’t expect to work, but they do, and they do it so well. You can tell that ‘The Matrix’ played a big part in the mixing of this track.

Track 2 POLITICS
A real metal intro to this track with quite a hypnotic mix of sounds and vocals. Strong lyrics that are crisp and clear and really get the feel of the track over to you

Track 3 HYPOCRITES
This is one of those tracks that is even better live, and this happens to be one of my favorites on the album. With it’s catchy lyrics and guitars it bounces around the speakers and almost makes your head spin. Good heavy beats and drums blasting out at you with a nice bit of vocal mixing.

Track 4 SOUVENIR
We continue with the metal sound for this tracks intro before it softens out to some very deep lyrics that seem to have drawn on real life experiences that loads of people can really relate to.

Track 5 10 OR A 2-WAY
Jonathans distinctive vocals really shine in this track, a great heavy mix of instruments and vocals with some nice mixing and great vocal effects. The lyrics are crisp and clear and quite ‘trippy’ in places, with an almost psychedelic feel.

Track 6 THROW ME AWAY
The bagpipes are back for this track with a backdrop of eerie wind noises and whispering vocals before it all ends and is replaced by a nice drum beat and gentle vocals that steadily build to deliver another quite ‘dark’, heartfelt track that is really packed with emotions and delivers the message it contains loud and clear. Another great track.

Track 7 LOVE SONG
Not really a love song, more like an onslaught of hurt and anger that I am sure everyone can relate to. It has a pounding beat that is consistent throughout and vocals that are almost spat out at you, which combine to produce a fantastic track that is sure to become a true ‘Korn Classic’

Track 8 OPEN UP
Straight into the vocals on this track with a much more commercial sound, still distinctively Korn though, with nice clear vocals and a crisp sound that is not too heavy. It has catchy lyrics that are easy to pick up so I can see this being a bit of a sing along song when played live. A good one for audience participation.

Track 9 COMING UNDONE
This is another track that has the original Korn sound to it, again this has a more mainstream sound but nether the less it is still catchy.

Track 10 GETTING OFF
More catchy, clear lyrics with some great ‘machine gunning’ guitars. More up beat than the last couple of tracks and one that you really want to ‘mosh’ to. Some great vocals and mixing on this track.

Track 11 LIAR
A nice twangy intro that blasts straight into brilliant vocals. This track delivers some fantastic lyrics. The instruments stay firmly in the background of this track with Jonathans voice just firing away the lyrics as if delivering his message purely for the listener. There is a nice point near the end of the track where his voice drops to a whisper and the instruments (including bagpipe) revolve around the room from speaker to speaker in a very haunting manner.

Track 12 FOR NO ONE
Back to the heavier metal sound again here with some great riffs in the intro and a nice strong drum beat throughout the track. Quite angry vocals which fit the sound perfectly. The vocals are quite reminiscent of the Ozzy sound with more than a hint of Black Sabbath.

Track 13 SEEN IT ALL
The metal sound is continued for this track with the heavy backing from the guitars and drums. Quite loud in every aspect with great vocal delivery that Jonathan seems to be spitting out at the listener and demands their full attention, which, undoubtedly he gets. As it nears the end the backing almost stops with just a basic piano sound playing single notes as the vocals almost cry at you before the guitars and drums return to blast you to the songs conclusion. This is a very powerful track and really shows what Korn stand for.

Track 14 TEARJERKER
The intro on this is very unusual, it sounds very similar to The Cure, with whispering lyrics and a haunting instrumental backing. It is a very gentle song, almost prayer like, with beautiful lyrics that are delivered in a very striking way. The central piece of the song is backed by slightly louder instruments before it drops back to the heartbeat / hammering sound for the final section. This is a great track and perfect for ending the album on. I think many people would be very surprised to find out that this is Korn !

See You On The Other Side by Korn
Released 6 December 2005 by Virgin

This is, in my opinion, the best Korn album in years. It really shows what they are capable of and for those of us who love the sound they were producing back in the ‘Follow The Leader’ years , it’s a real boost. The lyrics are great and they make a lot more sense than some of the other albums that have been released in the past few years and the vocals are crisp and clear and very easy to understand . I love this band, they are able to produce such varied sounds , as this album clearly demonstrates, from the typical Korn sound in Twisted Transistor to the very suprising Tearjerker. The Bagpipes pop up throughout the album and are used in some unusual places with fantastic effect.

All fans of good music should go out and get
