Album Title: Flogging The Horses EP

Track 1. Flogging The Horses

Well lets take a look shall we? The first track and also title track of the Ep...BY GOD that track hit me like a Supernova of the face, this song is just so creative in every aspect of the word. The opening riffs and vocals confused the crap out of me to say the least but in a really impressive way I have to say I havn't heard anything quite like this, It has a really "quirky" feel to it and to me makes for a truly easy and interesting listen. The band are known for their akward time signatures and this song demonstrates this to perfection. This really is a band at the top of their game.. LISTEN TO IT! It's an amazing track.

Track 2. Eachother And Ourselves

The second this song kicked in it's simply screaming out to you "Hold on to your nuts I'm an epic" the vocals are so powerful, it makes you kind of want to cry in a wierd kind of way they are pulled off so emotional and are backed by some really awsome guitar and piano riffs. Oh my word there is a part in this track where everything just breaks down into some "brilliant" riffs played on the backbeat of the drums, this has a hell of an emotional effect on the listener (well me at least) If you don't enjoy this track you can't say you don't appreaceate the immense writing talent of this group.
At the end of the track you are left with just the vocals and and a soft (spooky is the right word) piano melody.. This track easily shows some form of emotional meaning by the lyricist, all In all a very very good track.

Track 3. Grind, Choke (Demo)

Gorgeous Guitar Intro, It made me want to go driving through a massive golden cornfield so a big thumbs up to that and when the vocals kick in Phwoar!! the mood is changed dramatically into a feel of being trampled by a giant rampaging robot haha duel vocals I love it, the guitars are so awsome in the verse almost a bit bouncy dare I say - "Hip Hop" but obviously very heavy hip hop ofcourse.
The chorus kicks in and almost appears as a random section but some how.. It works very nicely, I must stress again how bouncy this track is, such a different feel than the first two tracks. I can happily say this band are indeed original, massively. The outro is packed to the teeth with "beautifully" placed backing vocals and "Epically" arranged guitar harmonies and the bridge is to die for and also the drums in every track so far I shouldn't forget to mention are so interesting it's more drum riffs that follow the guitar's rather than just generic drum beats, this in my oppinion is a quality that all good drummers should have and Sikth's drummer certainly does have it. Another quality track by the mighty Sikth.

Track 4. The Plan Is Lamb (Demo)

This track forces the listener straight into the metal (You know you love it) a kin to the title track "Flogging The Horses" It hits you from the very start with "quirky" meaty riffs that will tear your face off, especially live. I'm drawn to the lead guitar in this track it gives you a sense of "oh my god I'm about to die" fast paced throughout the whole track bar a very epic but spooky breakdown that is accompanied by what sounds like a chorus of children being whipped (don't believe me take a listen it really does) a bit disapointed by this bridge and outro as it sounded very similar (almost identical) to the end section of "Flogging The Horses" so that wasn't at all interesting to hear from a track review point of view, as far as the sound of this track goes yes a bit similar to "Flogging The Horses" but a good listen and all very complex musicianship throughout.

Track 5. Where Do We Fall? (Remix)

A Much "Quieter" start to this track than what I thought it was going to be, but I should have expected a softer sound with a name like "Where Do We Fall?" Lots of echo and reverb going on and again more pauses and time changes from the band used to incredibal effect. The guitars in this track are in two words "Simply Divine" I enjoyed this track because I didn't expect a band like Sikth to come out with somthing so soft, I honestly expected "Heavy, Heavy and more Heavy" The vocals in this track if not all of their tracks are incredable I Havn't heard a vocalist that brings across such raw emotion to Their singing so congrats to them. I was a tad disapointed towards the end of this track because It didn't build up to anything and kind of finished without me even clicking "oh it's the end" i only clicked a couple of seconds after the track stopped dead silent, It was quite a shock to be honest. Other than that I really enjoyed listening to this track it really made me stop and think about stuff. Take a listen I would bet alot of money it will have the same effect on you.

All In all a monsterous Ep and I would recomend it to every metal fan and even if you don't like metal... You WILL love this band. If I were to rate this Ep out of 10 I'd give it 8 *Thumbs Up* Take a listen for yourselves and I'm sure you'll all love it, I was very impressed
