punkers THE OFFSPRING have astonishingly never played the Download Festival
despite being at the fore of the US music scene ever since ‘Self
Esteem’ broke them over here in 1994.
Rising up alongside fellow punks Green Day, The Offspring’s second album ‘Ignition’ led to tours with Pennywise and No Doubt. But it was 1994’s ‘Smash’ that did exactly what it said on the tin, and gave the band huge recognition and success world-wide, setting the all time record for most units sold by an independent label band at 14 million records. Later singles ‘Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)’, ‘Why Don’t You Get A Job’ and ‘All I Want’ were all hits both here and in the US and the band will be previewing brand new tracks at Download ahead of their scheduled next album. "We are fully pumped to be making
our return to the UK headlining this Summer's Download Festival. UK
fans are the best and have made our festival shows some of the most
memorable ever. Can't wait!" - Dexter Holland, The Offspring
