READING & LEEDS WEEKEND TICKETS SELL OUT

A total of 200,000 tickets sold in 24 hours marks this year's tenth anniversary for Leeds and twentieth for Reading as an extra special event.

The UK’s only three day, dual site festival is headlined this year by Rage Against The Machine, The Killers and Metallica with a host of exclusive performances, huge names and the coolest up and coming bands over six stages.

Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic said, “'I am over the moon! Absolutely thrilled. 20th year since we took over Reading after it had been bankrupt. 10th year since we created Leeds. The UK's biggest selling festival with the best bill on the planet this year sells out in less than 2 hours. Whoever is talking about a slump in festival popularity is talking rubbish. Long live Reading and Leeds!'”

Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements to the bill and get ready for the greatest rock n' roll show on earth over the August Bank holiday.

24/03/2008 GREEN MESSENGER VOLUNTEER POSITIONS ARE NOW FULL

Reading Festival will have Green Messengers in the campsites again in 2008, talking to campers to encourage them to be environmentally aware in the disposal of their rubbish, particularly in packing up their camping site. We are keen to alert festival goers to the environmental impact of burning tents and possessions instead of taking them home or donating them.

All Green Messenger volunteer positions are now full!
Please keep an eye out on this website as we may be announcing recycling volunteer recruitment soon.

LIFTSHARE SCHEME

If you have to bring your car, then please consider using the lift share scheme. Lift sharing is a great way to reduce traffic to the Festival and to save money, hassle and the planet at the same time. You can ask for a contribution to costs and save some money on your own travel, or maybe don't bring a car at all. It's also another great way to meet new people at the Festival and takes a lot of pressure off the local roads. If you have spare spaces in your car, or you don't really have to use your car then please consider lift-sharing. It definitely must be part of the future of private transport.

Please visit the Reading Festival Car Share Scheme operated by Liftshare.

Freewheelers Alternative site
However all arrangements which you make are private arrangements between you and other sharers. The Festival does not arrange lift sharing or have any liability to or for lift sharers.

Safety first: Make sure you know the identity of the person or persons you are sharing with. Having a home telephone number is sensible precaution and make sure you leave details of the lift share, the driver and passenger's number(s) and home address if possible with friends and/or family. Take your mobile phone with you. If you are at all uncomfortable with any arrangements, or the condition of the vehicle being used, then make other plans. If a vehicle is not taxed it is possible the driver has no driving licence, no insurance and no MOT. Safety first: trust your instincts and use common sense.

Here you can keep up to date with all the latest news and information on the run up to Reading 2008.
