GuilFest 2009 Friday reviews

Motorhead

Motorhead

Good evening Guilfest, We are Motorhead and we play rock and roll, this is the announcement from the legend that is Lemmy, as Motorhead take to the stage for their headline slot.  They thunder through their back catalouge of hits that keeps the crowd out on a wet cold friday night, but i dont think anyone has noticed the weather as all eyes and ears are glued to the stage. When they play probably the most well known track Ace Of Spades there is not a still voice in the arean as everybody sings along.

Come on Guilfest show me what you got, its been two years and I wanna see you go mad Guilfest, shouts front man Josh, I want you to create the biggest pit in the middle here. With there cluster of catchy songs they soon get the crowd worked up into a frenzy, its a packed tent and everybody is bouncing and singing along. Karn8

Karn8

Hampshire based trio Karn8 play a blistering set on the Rock Sound stage. Front woman Kirst has a sultry and seductive vocal which draws you in only to be blown away by the heavy growl which hits the back of the tent, this  really gives the band a depth and quality that many bands would like to have. They take in many styles of music and mix them up to create their own unique sound, which has certainly earned them an army of fans, many of which seem to be here to see them today as the tent is packed.

Tragedy

As the sparkly spandex cat suits appear on the main stage it can mean only one thing, the metal tribute to the beegees Tragedy are here. With the over the top screaming it’s certainly an entertaining set. Playing all of the beegees classics they get the crowd singing along, you have not lived until you have heard  Jive Talking given the metal treatment.

JB Conspiracy

Hearing the sounds of organs, brass and punk guitars this is a true Ska show we are being treated to by JB Conspiracy bouncing across the stage yet still managing to hit every note, not the usual ska wannabe type act that cant play, the brass playing is totally faultless with the guitar work and drumming making this into a fantastic show.

Ginger

If you all want to start making love that would be great comes the announcement from Ginger, we would like to play the soundtrack to your love, now what a site that would be. This sets the tone for Ginger's set, not in a bad way, it’s a great rapport that he has with the crowd as the banter flows.  This set is not just about the chat though, Ginger is an extremely talented artist and that shows today, he is not just the Wildhearts front man but also an act in his own right with just as may fans to boot.
