| 17/06/2009 | ***You Me At Six, Trans - Global Underground, Hundred Reasons, Jersey Budd & Florence Rawlings added to GuilFest 2009 line up*** You Me At Six have been confirmed as headline act on the Rocksound Cave on Friday 10th July. It’s been a whirlwind for this Surrey based young pop punk quintet since they formed in Weybridge in 2005. They have already won two Kerrang! Nominations and supported a host of hot rock acts, from Fightstar to New Found Glory, The Audition, Angels & Airwaves and Fall Out Boy before headlining numerous tours of their own. In November 2007 they signed an album deal with UK Indie label Slam Dunk Records, and their debut album, Take Off Your Colours, went straight in at number 25 in the UK Charts in October 2008. You Me At Six, who recently signed to Epitaph Records in the US, really are the British band of the moment and organisers are delighted to have such talent performing at GuilFest this year! World music genre defining Trans-Global Underground have been confirmed for the Main Stage at GuilFest on Saturday 11th July. Formed in 1991, when a group of disenchanted misfits from various corners of the dance, indie, bhangra, and Arabic scenes in London begin congregating in and around the offices of Nation Records in Ladbroke Grove, Trans - Global Underground have since toured festivals and venues all over the world, including locations as diverse as Egypt, Tunisia, Singapore and Australia – The band even opened the 2000 Sydney Olympics! Expect world music influence from just about anywhere you can think of; their set is guaranteed to take you on a musical journey that spans the entire globe. Hundred Reasons are confirmed to headline the Rocksound Cave on Saturday 11th July. Hailing from Surrey, Hundred Reasons have sold in excess of a quarter of a million albums and scored six top 40 UK Hit singles from their four studio albums released since the band’s inception in 2000. Hundred Reasons, who have toured extensively round the world and won three Kerrang! awards to date, are set to bring the house down with their powerful live set on Saturday night in the Rock Sound Cave. Jersey Budd is welcomed to the Ents24 stage on Saturday 11th July. Aside from his expressive, powerful voice and knack for a good melody, it’s Jersey’s unique take on rock history that makes his music so compelling. On ‘Shotgun Times’ he updates southern rock with contemporary string and horn arrangements, while ‘She Came Back’ shimmers with the 60’s finest harmonies, featuring the same handclaps and ‘Sha-La-Las’ that punctuated The Hollies’ finest moments. Gifted yet grounded, Jersey Budd is a working class hero in the making, matching Lennon’s looks with The Boss’ penchant for the epic. We’re sure that his voice, songs and most importantly his lust for life, will make welcome additions to 2009’s musical landscape. Soul singer Florence Rawlings will be entertaining crowds on the Main Stage on Saturday 11th July. The latest signing to Mike Batt’s Dramatico Records (Katie Melua, Marianne Faithfull, Carla Bruni), this 20 year-old Londoner is set to become a household name with her impressive mix of authentic soul, raw grooves and rhythm & blues. Florence first impressed Mike Batt at the age of just thirteen when she performed at his house after hearing he was looking for female singers to sign to his label Dramatico. Two of the young singing applicants stood out to Batt immediately, one being a certain Katie Melua and the other Florence Rawlings. With Florence still so young, it was agreed that she should concentrate on school and finish her studies. Even then, whilst the majority of young teenagers were just being introduced to the real world, Florence sang with a heart and core that suggested she knew it inside out. These 5 new acts join an enormous line up, that has been announced over the last few weeks. There are still plenty more acts to be announced however - More emerging talent will grace the two Live Club Stages for unsigned bands, with over 40 of the best raw and up and coming groups vying for the audience’s attention over the weekend. Tons of other attractions are on offer, including a massive 150 foot long bar, a huge variety of food stalls, Farmer Giles Barn Dance, The brand new 70s disco, The Rock Disco, The Acoustic tent, the eFestivals Comedy Stage, The Funky End Stage and loads more. The Rock Choir Team behind the concept suggest it is their teaching formula and professional feel-good and caring approach that attracts so many individuals to the choir - a choir like no other. The media frenzy that surrounded Rock Choir earlier this year pushed the brand Rock Choir into the National arena and with over sixty new Rock Choirs for all ages starting in September around the South, South-East and London, new members from the public are already waiting for their new Rock Choirs to begin. GuilFest are delighted to have Nouvelle Vague headlining the 2nd Stage on Friday 10th July. The prestigious Irish World Newspaper Awards crowned Imelda May 2008’s Best Female Newcomer. It’s not much of a stretch to see more acclaim ahead in 2009. She shared stages with everyone from Van Morrison to the Scissor Sisters, and provided vocals for a character in the forthcoming American gangster movie “Dark Streets”. Her shows have a reputation for being impassioned, all-or-nothing events. “Love Tattoo,” which is almost entirely self-written, has the same unbridled feel, whether she’s getting her teeth into a massive rockabilly party track or a sleazy after-midnight torch number. In 2008 Imelda found herself on “Later With Jools Holland,” wowing an audience who included Jeff Beck, Elbow and Roots Manuva. Beck, in fact, made a point of telling Holland that he was only there to see her! Imelda will be wowing the GuilFest crowds on the 2nd Stage on Saturday 11th July. Eat Static was formed in 1989 by Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton as a creative outlet for the diverse range of electronic music that the pair were writing. Always intended as a live band, Eat Static can legitimately claim to be one of the UK's first live techno outfits, cutting their teeth at many of the 'orbital' raves of the early 90's. Since that time, Eat Static have played hundreds of gigs in the UK, Europe, the USA (touring with Moby and BT) and the Far East. These shows included a number of appearances at all the big UK and European festivals including Glastonbury and Dance Valley in Amsterdam. You can catch Eat Static headlining GuilFest’s Funky End dance Tent on Friday 10th July. Tickets are on sale now, available on-line at www.guilfest.co.uk or by calling Ticketline on 0871 424 0050.

| 18/03/2009 | GUILFEST 2009 Organisers are delighted to announce that headlining the Main Stage on Saturday 11th July at GuilFest 2009 will be none other than the truly legendary BRIAN WILSON and headlining the Main Stage on Friday 10th July will be classic heavy metallers Brian Wilson, songwriter and original member of The Beach Boys, is quite simply one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. Brian can be credited as having written or co-written some of the best known anthems in the history of pop including “Surfin USA,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “California Girls,” “I get around,” and “Good Vibrations” to name but a few! As if that wasn’t enough, the Beach Boys album “Pet Sounds” is widely credited as one of the most influential records ever released in western pop music, ranked number #1 in many critics’ lists of greatest albums of all time. Having been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000 by Paul McCartney, the UK music hall of fame in 2006 by David Gilmour (of Pink Floyd) and the Rock Hall of Fame in 1988 with his band, The Beach Boys, Brian is known as one of the great geniuses of songwriting by his peers and leagues of adoring fans all over the planet. A Grammy award winner in 2005, his career has spanned almost half a century - with 11 of The Beach Boys albums achieving gold status, 4 achieving Platinum and 6 achieving the rare Multi-Platinum status! Very few artists have ever achieved global success on this level. Do not miss this rare occasion to see a true musical legend in all senses of the words headline the main stage at GuilFest on Saturday night. Motörhead - the name alone stands on it's own, a band that lives according to their own rules. A band that has never sacrificed anything and has always remained true to what they are. Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee - what you see is what you get! Lemmy's enthronement as an Icon of Rock happened a while ago and proves that Rock and Roll is alive and exhilarating. (On June 16th Lemmy received the Mojo Icon Award). Most famous for enormously successful albums “No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith” and “Ace of Spades” - the latter containing the album title track “Ace of Spades” (probably one of the best known heavy metal tracks in the world today). 'Motörizer', Motörhead’s latest album is a meaty, dangerous rock record, described as an excellent return to form and has been achieving great success the world over, hitting the UK top 40 this year and taking positions as high as 5th in European charts such as Germany. Motörhead have even managed to pick up a much-coveted Grammy Award during their extensive career – back in 2005 for the best metal performance. (strangely enough the same year Brian Wilson picked up his!) Lemmy and co will headline the GuilFest Main Stage on Friday Night – this is guaranteed to be a properly rocking experience – expect to hear a mix of new and old - classics combined with amazing material from the new album. GuilFest has been consistently voted as one of the UK’s best family festivals over the past 5 years - Held in the idyllic location of Stoke Park, Guildford, visitors can expect a great weekend featuring 7 stages of live music, comedy, theatre, children’s entertainment, Farmer Giles’ barn dance, street theatre, art and crafts, delicious food and drink from around the world and a truly festive atmosphere.
