With a host of metal talent already confirmed for next year’s BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR, organisers can now reveal the first set of headliners for the 10th anniversary event. The awesome pairing comes in the form of Finnish metal monsters CHILDREN OF BODOM and LA Cyber-Metallers FEAR FACTORY.
 
CHILDREN OF BODOM have defied all odds, breaking out of the so called “Euro-Metal” scene to become one of the biggest names in metal across the globe. 2008’s “Blooddrunk” album saw the band reach new heights, truly being embraced by the metal community, gracing magazine covers worldwide, including that of BLOODSTOCK media partner METAL HAMMER, and a sold-out tour of the UK with BOA 2010 partners CANNIBAL CORPSE. Famed for frontman ALEXI LAIHO’s impossibly fast shredding/soloing, as well as his guitar vs keyboard duels with keysman JANNE WARMEN, COB’s place as headliners of BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR - at their only UK show of 2010 - is testament to how far they’ve come, and is not to be missed. Originating from Los Angeles, California, Industrial metallers FEAR FACTORY’s appearance at BLOODSTOCK 2010 is one we announce with a huge swell of pride. Coming very close to performing at last year’s event after announcing the reunion of guitarist DINO CAZARES and frontman BURTON C BELL, the band changed plans to concentrate on brand new studio album “Mechanize” which is set for a February 2010 release via Candlelight records. We’re delighted that Dino and Burton will be there this year, not least because completing the new line up will be human drum machine and skin-battering legend Gene Hoglan and his ex-Strapping Young Lad bandmate Byron Stroud. Says the band:

Their set of heavy yet groove-laden digitalised metal will be a treat for those in attendance, and we can't wait to hear classics like “Replica”, “Self Bias Resistor”, “Martyr” and “Edgecrusher” alongside new songs blasted out in the fields of Derbyshire.
 
Joining the two headliners on the bill are cult Finns AMORPHIS. These increasingly progressive melo-death doomsters have received widespread critical acclaim for their latest album “Skyforger”. Topping many end-of year writer’s polls and receiving rave reviews across the board, AMORPHIS are finally enjoying the success the UK owes them, and we’re delighted to host the band’s first ever UK festival performance at this exclusive set at BLOODTSOCK. In the not too distant past…Peter-John got evicted from his Toronto apartment and landed on the couch of producer DJ Cirkut. Armed with his guitar, backpack and skateboard, it was here that the first chapter of Let’s Go To War was written.  After weeks of saying, "we should hook up and work on some tracks", they finally collaborated and wrote a handful of songs in a matter of days, which resulted in a creative experience sweeter than a mouthful of cotton candy.  “Life We Live” is the hedonistic club anthem that will bring any party to a climax.

The combination of the band’s influences and shared musical sensibilities gave birth to a unique sound not easy to classify by even the most outspoken of music bloggers. Citing Bob Dylan, Outkast, Daft Punk, Alan Parsons Project, Herbie Hancock and Jay-Z as inspiration, the band was galvanized into refusing to be pigeonholed. It is this unwillingness to compromise their music or pacify the pimps of the genre biz that finally evoked the freedom cry, “Let’s Go To War”. It is reactionary. It is your revolution invitation delivered to your door courtesy of groove freedom fighters, LGTW, who are only willing to describe their music as “digital confusion”.

LGTW are a virtual Jackson Pollock of multiculturalism. Their backgrounds are a colorful canvas of Jamaican, Irish and Welsh. To them, as in life, the boundaries that delineate genre and sound have become blurred and obscured. Hip-Hop, Electro, Reggae and Folk have all been blended into a potent hybrid that takes a little essence from each style of music and crosses and cultivates it into something new and exotic. It is on this fertile field that LGTW breathes easily and runs freely outside the confines of characterization and comparison.

With production for Britney Spears and remixes for The Music, The Whip and The Carps (to name a few) already under their belt, Let's Go To War are set to release their debut album in March 2010 and are poised to take over minds and bodies quicker than L. Ron Hubbard (without firing a shot!). Let’s Go To War. Call it Electro, call it Punk, call it Hip Hop, call it Crunk. It don’t matter, because it ain’t callin’ you in the morning! So push your indie bangs out from your face, tie up dem dreads and DANCE!

Legendary New York hardcore heroes BIOHAZARD - in its original line up - have announced they will return with a brand new studio album in summer of 2010. Evan Seinfeld, Billy Graziadei, Danny Schuler and Bobby Hambel are set to enter a Los Angeles’ Underground Sounds Studio on January 19th to commence working on the album. This will be the first time the four original members have recorded together since 1996’s breakthrough “State Of The World Address”.
 
Bassist Evan Seinfeld states, “BIOHAZARD and our four diverse, yet equal and integral parts converge upon our LA Underground Sound studio and resurrect our patented ‘meat grinder’ writing process.  Each guy brings something - riffs, lyrics, concepts, songs, melodies, chants - and we get in a room and hammer it out. I have personally missed this process over the last years but having Bobby back in the band has brought back some extra fire that has helped remind all of us what the Brooklyn style is all about. The process is exhausting, humbling, magical and empowering all at the same time. One of the songs we wrote in our first ‘round’ of this battle, ‘Vengeance Is Mine’, we just played in all of Europe, London, and Moscow and went over so well live, that I am sure we are on the right track.”
 
BIOHAZARD has just finished a 22 month reunion world tour where the band played 100+ shows on five continents. Starting with their self-titled 1990 debut, BIOHAZARD released eight acclaimed studio albums which have sold over three million copies worldwide. During that time, the band was also featured prominently on two revered, Gold-certified compilations: Nativity in Black: A Tribute to Black Sabbath—they were represented with the album-opening cover of "After Forever”—and the groundbreaking soundtrack to the film Judgment Night, for which they provided the title track (a collaboration with the rap group Onyx). Known for their incendiary live show, the band has performed over 3200 shows in their career.
 
The currently untitled album is set for release in summer of 2010. The world tour will commence in April 2010 and will last through late 2011.

GuilFest’s already amazing line-up for July 16/17/18 just gets better and better with the announcement of the Friday night headline slot.

ORBITAL, the grand masters of British Electronica, who have notched up 14 top 40 singles, (2 of which went Top 3) and 7 Top 40 albums (3 of which went Top 5) will be bringing their legendary live set to Stoke Park for the first time at GuilFest 2010 on Friday July 16th.

Orbital, who formed in 1989, are creators of some of the best known UK dance anthems in musical history; most notably “Chime”, “Style”, “Belfast”, “The Box” and “Satan”.  Named after the London ring road that took their generation to illegal raves, the Hartnoll brothers from Sevenoaks are considered to be true innovators of techno music.

Orbital, who have worked with a hugely diverse group of collaborative artists including Alison Goldfrapp and Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammet, have also performed remix duties for such icons as Madonna, Queen Latifah and (their all time heroes) Kraftwerk.

Orbital have won a reliable reputation for hugely exciting live performances, whether headlining massive festival stages at Glastonbury, Woodstock, Lollapalooza etc. or multiple sold-out nights at venues such as Brixton Academy and The Royal Albert Hall. Orbital’s 1994 Glastonbury performance even earned the band a Q magazine award as one of the 50 greatest gigs of all time, and this year they are well deserved winners of DJ Magazines’ ‘Live Act Of The Year’ Award 2009 as voted by the public.

Orbital join already announced headliners The Human League and Status Quo, who will perform on Saturday 17th July, and Sunday 18th July respectively.

With the power to rock the very foundations of Knebworth Hall itself, the weekend headliners, both renowned for sensational live shows, are British Metal titans
IRON MAIDEN - for whom KNEBWORTH will be their only UK appearance of 2010 - and German industrial rock monsters RAMMSTEIN, who make their first - and only 2010 - UK Festival appearance.
 
The legendary IRON MAIDEN, whose last UK concert was a sold out show to 50,000 fans at Twickenham Stadium in July 2008, are the biggest selling British Metal band of all time, with album sales in excess of 80 million based on a huge following around the planet built on extensive and spectacular World Tours and the sheer excitement of their live performances. Brit Award winners for BEST BRITISH LIVE ACT earlier this year, Maiden have been at the forefront of Metal for over twenty-five years and continue to go forward with ever increasing success both critically and commercially.  From the west coast of America, the heaviest of the heavy, SLAYER will take to the Knebworth stage to deliver furious metal delivered at breakneck speed. The Grammy nominated LA Kings of Thrash have not appeared at a UK festival for 3 years, and their exclusive appearance at SONISPHERE this summer will be a welcome return to a festival stage in the UK.

Complementing this performance, from New York, speed metal kings ANTHRAX return to Knebworth with John Bush back in the fold. Alongside SLAYER and last year’s headliners METALLICA, ANTHRAX are one of the BIG FOUR who have made Thrash metal what it is. Comments guitarist Scott Ian

Flying in from LA for their only UK show of 2010, Glam-metallers MÖTLEY CRÜE will be bringing with them their sleaze-drenched Rock. The embodiment of the Rock’n’Roll spirit and with over 80 million albums sold, the Crue will be armed with a catalogue of hits as VINCE NEIL, TOMMY LEE, NIKKI SIXX and MICK MARS shock their way through anthems such as “Girls, Girls, Girls”, “Dr Feelgood”, “Kickstart My Heart” and “Shout At The Devil”.

THE CULT, also making an exclusive UK festival appearance, have marked England’s place on the global rock map, being one of the few UK hard-rock bands to truly break in the US. IAN ASTBURY and co will be making their first UK festival appearance in nearly a decade at Knebworth next summer.

SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH is set to be an even bigger monster in 2010, with the extra day of music added. Friday 30th July will see the festivities getting started with a Rocky Horror show theme, and ALICE COOPER – the legendary godfather of theatrical rock – suitably closing the evening on the SATURN stage at his only UK festival performance of 2010. With hits such as “Schools Out”, “Poison” and “Hey Stoopid” plus a full theatrical set, the iconic singer is the perfect focus for the evening’s theme. Fancy dress is expected and encouraged. The Human League
Confirmed to headline on Saturday 17th July (& Status Quo on Sunday 18th July)

Seminal British synthpop legends The Human League, who have sold over 20 million records worldwide, have been confirmed to headline GuilFest 2010 on Saturday July 17th.
The Human League have released nine studio albums since 1978, four of which were top ten chart successes, including “Dare”, which hit number 1 in the UK and achieved triple-platinum status. The band have released twenty six singles , including eight UK top ten hits and two US/UK number ones.

Famous for such smashes as “Human”, “Mirror Man”, “Open Your Heart”; as well as anthemic classics “Don’t You Want Me” and “Tell Me When” ‘The League’ have notched up an impressive list of awards and nominations, including a 1982 Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act, a 2004 Q Award for Innovation in Sound, a 2008 ASCAP award for an incredible 20 million US radio plays of “Don’t You Want Me” and a Grammy nomination for best international act.

The Human League have influenced the likes of Madonna, Moby, plus Little Boots, and been sampled and covered by such artists as YMO, Ministry of Sound, Craig David, George Michael and Robbie Williams.

Status Quo, who have sold over 118 million records worldwide, recorded 64 British Hit Singles and had more hit albums (32) in the UK album charts than any other band apart from the Rolling Stones, headline GuilFest on Sunday July 18th.

Status Quo have notched up 22 top ten UK singles since their first, ‘Pictures Of Matchstick Men’, reached number 7 in the UK chart in January 1968, spending over seven and a half years in the British singles chart in all.

Status Quo, who hold the record for the most appearances on Top Of The Pops (106!) promise to play a plethora of unforgettable rock’n’roll anthems such as ‘Paper Plane’, ‘Caroline’, ‘Down Down’, ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’, ‘Whatever You Want’, ‘The Wanderer’ and ‘In The Army Now’.

SHIKARI ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN / UK TOUR SUPPORT AND

FINALLY GET AROUND TO CONFIRMING CHRISTMAS SHOW BILL

Enter Shikari have invited St. Louis, Missouri post-hardcore quintet Story Of The Year along as main support on the band's January 2010 European headline tour, and as openers on the UK dates in February 2010 (which feature The King Blues as main support). What's more, Story Of The Year have accepted this invitation. Everyone is very pleased.

The tour starts in Denmark on the 8th Jan, and ends on the 12th Feb with a show at London's 5,000 capacity Hammersmith Apollo. Unfortunately, due to commitments back in the USA, Story Of The Year will be unable to appear at the Hammersmith show. When we know what will happen instead, we will make an announcement of the London line-up.

There will be an Enter Shikari release to coincide with the UK dates. Details are still sketchy, but the release will definitely feature two brand new tracks recorded in November 2009 with 'Common Dreads' producer Andy Gray on the Isle Of Wight prior to the band starting their current European tour as support on The Prodigy's arena tour of Europe.

While on the subject of supports, the bill for the Enter Shikari Christmas party show at Hertforshire University in Hatfield has finally been locked in. The show happens on Saturday 19th December across the Forum & Attic rooms at the newly opened venue. The diverse bill of bands and DJs is drawn from the friends and family of the band and includes performances ranging from the conscious electro-acoustic emo-pop of Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, to the poetic activist hip-hop of Lowkey, to the hyper-melodic rock-pop of Canterbury, to the gut-churning dubstep of the True Tiger label DJs.

The night also features a rare performance by Enter Shikari singer Rou Reynold's 8-piece hardcore / hip-hop band (in which he plays guitar) JBM... as well as DJ sets from Rou & ES drummer Rob Rolfe in their ROUT and Sgt. Rolfy guises.

Doors open at 4:30pm and the show is open to anyone aged 14+. However, when Enter Shikari's set in the Forum finishes at 10:30pm, all action moves into the Attic room, and due to licensing laws has to become 18+ from then until 3am.
