illuminatus confirm UK tour and EP release for September 2009

Multi-national post-metal quartet illuminatus have confirmed 9 dates for September as part of a co-headlined UK tour with Yorkshire metal legends Rise To Addiction.

The tour will be the fourth major tour following the release of the band’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘The Wrath Of The Lambs’ and builds on their successful support of Texan metal legends Ministry (C-U-LATour) and L.A.’s My Ruin (Religiosi Tour) in 2008, and the Insects & Attitude Tour in support of Gibraltar’s Breed 77 and Norway’s Susperia in May 2009.

The tour will coincide with the much anticipated release of the band’s new studio EP, The Rising Tide, on 11 September, which will include new song material recorded at Blast Studios, Newcastle, with Adam Sinclair (Therapy?).

illuminatus’ previous collaborators include producers Harvey Birrell (Therapy?, Ministry) and Pete Coleman (AC/DC, Paradise Lost). The band’s music has been compared to Anathema, Paradise Lost, Deftones and Cult of Luna and described as “melodic, atmospheric, powerful” (Rocksound), “soul-shaking dynamics” (Metal Hammer) and “serious music for serious people” (Kerrang!).

illuminatus continue to roll out their War Machine. Join the revolution at: www.illuminatus.uk.com.

Har Mar Superstar

Dark Touches

(October 12th; Dilettante Records)

After a five year hibernation since 2004’s The Handler, Har Mar Superstar, sexy as ever, is ready to unleash Dark Touches on the masses.  On Dark Touches, Sean Tillmann – the singer, songwriter, and producer behind the Har Mar moniker – delivers his most club-friendly collection of jams yet.  Tillmann’s silky smooth croon and tongue-in-cheek lyrics lead a nonstop dance party that blends everything from synth-pop to R&B, with ample hooks around every corner.

Dark Touches builds a bridge between the worlds of indie and top 40 dance music, thanks in part to an eclectic group of collaborators.  The albums many guests include John Fields (Andrew WK, Jonas Brothers, Rooney), The Faint’s beatmakers Clark Baechle and Jacob Thiele, singer-songwriter Adam Green, P.O.S. of the Rhymesayers collective, Neon Neon’s Boom Bip, Flowers of Doom, and Samaire Armstrong.

The Bird and The Bee’s Greg Kurstin, who has also produced tracks for Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, and Lily Allen, co-wrote and lent his studio wizardry to “Tall Boy.”  The track was originally intended for Spears and, with the unchanged lyrics, takes on a vibrant new life in the hands of Har Mar.

Of course no Har Mar song is complete without Tillmann’s signature lyrics, which are both outrageously absurd and witty.  “I Got Next,” which features The Bird and The Bee’s Inara George, details Tillmann’s practice of asking women to sign contracts that put him next in line to date if they ever leave their current boyfriend.  He’s also penned an anthem for the ladies with “Girls Night,” a track that was once intended for The Cheetah Girls, and like “Tall Boy,” maintains the original lyrics, written from a female perspective.

Tillmann is also getting ready to dip his toes into the world of Hollywood with the release of Whip It, a film directed by Drew Barrymore that he appears in alongside Juno’s Ellen Page and Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat.  As if he isn’t wearing enough hats already, Tillmann is also developing his own movie scripts and sitcom pilots.  Along with his golden pipes, the ability to juggle multiple creative outlets is sure to win him entry into both the hearts and undergarments of women and men everywhere.

29/07/2009 Blackhole release their debut album 'Dead Hearts' on Sept 7 on Search And Destroy Records. It is preceded by the 'Scared To Change' single on Aug 31.

Produced by Colin Richardson's (Slipknot/Machine Head/Fear Factory), it is a totally intense blast of punk rock fury!

And the band are due to hit the road in support of the record throughout September.

'We've got 19 shows in 19 days,' says Blackhole frontman Richard Carter on the band's forthcoming tour alongside the release of their debut album 'Dead Hearts'. 'I can't fucking wait'.

“We’re incredibly pleased to announce that we’ve just signed up with In At The Deep End Records.  The label’s track-record says it all really and we couldn’t be happier than to be associated with a label that’s released records by the likes of Gallows, Sylosis, Shaped By Fate, Romeo Must Die, Send More Paramedics, Architects and the list goes on.  To release our debut CD through a label that is run off of a passion for good music is a huge privilege and we can’t thank them enough for helping us out with the release.”

“Our debut EP 1888 is now officially due for release on October 5th and we can’t wait to get it out into everyone’s grubby little hands!”

The 5 track EP was recorded at Metropolis Studios (in a room sandwiched between Iron Maiden and Alicia Keys) and mixed at the studio where AC/DC recorded Back in Black, on the desk used to mix Radioheads OK Computer and has original artwork by the very awesome D.W. 28/07/2009 Breed 77 explode back into action with new single 'WAKE UP' on Aug 24 2009. It is taken from imminent new album, 'Insects', due for release on Oct 19.

Unleashing the heaviest and most direct record of an already lengthy and distinguished career, the Gibraltarian born, and UK based quintet are fired up and ready for action.

"This album is direct and straight to the point - no one's going to be left on the fence on this one....it's seriously intense - it will blow you away!!" says front man Paul Isola.

With a ten year career, 4 albums and endless world tours under their belts, (not to mention a Top 40 single with 'The River', and a 25,000+ selling album in 'Cultura'), Breed77 are clearly a force to be reckoned with, and a band that the UK can be truly proud of.

Resolutely intense in both their outlook and musical output, they have garnered a well deserved reputation for their dynamic and individual take on post millennial heaviness. Mixing their native Mediterranean influences with contemporary metal and rock, (using a combination of English and Spanish), they have forged a sound that is simply - Breed 77!

The forthcoming album, titled 'Insects', (co-produced with Guillermo 'Will' Maya and mastered by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound NY), is due out on Oct 19 2009.

"We are really stoked with what feels like our most exciting work yet," says guitarist Danny Felice. "We've pushed ourselves at all levels to produce what we feel is our heaviest album but still retaining that 'Breed' sound."

"We can't wait to play these songs live," continues bassist Stuart Cavilla. "That's where they're meant to be heard. The whole album plays like a live set - it's killer!"

And the first step of this campaign will be a the 'Wake Up' single - a snappy blast of a tune which underlines the intense new Breed 77 sound. Check it out and see what we mean!

Broadway Calls set to release new album ‘Good Views, Bad News’ on 17th August 2009

Single ‘Be All That You Can’t Be’ released 10th August 2009

UK Live dates in August and September

(Side One Dummy Records)

www.myspace.com/broadwaycalls (check out the single here)

“…Instant sunshine melodies… Broadway Calls actually have the balls to keep a healthy dose of grit in the mix. Watch this space.” Kerrang!

“Boundless energy and conviction packed into each sing-along chorus” Rock Sound

“Bursting with energy and call-to-arms lyrics…we love these Broadway punks!” Total Guitar

“…power pop sounds” Rhythm

Originally signed by Green Day’s Billy Joe Armstrong, Oregon’s Broadway Calls are due to release their second album on 17th August 2009 on Side One Dummy Records (The Gaslight Anthem, Gogol Bordello, Bedouin Soundclash).  It will be available on CD/Vinyl and digital formats with an extra bonus track ‘Call Out’ on the vinyl. Single ‘Be All That You Can’t Be’ precedes the album on 10th August. ‘Good Views, Bad News’ was recorded in the famed studio Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, with Descendents and Black Flag drummer and production guru Bill Stevenson.  “Recording there was the perfect match for us, not only musically but because personality wise everyone there was really honest and had so much positive input that helped make these songs better” singer Ty Vaughn explains. “Bill is seriously like no one we’ve ever worked with before, he gets way into songs, every detail is accounted for and we’re a better band for having worked with him.”

Broadway Calls are influenced as much by classic punk acts like the Ramones and the Buzzcocks as they are by more modern acts such as Jawbreaker and Green Day. “We’ve always written songs that we wanted to hear, and that’s definitely true with Good Views, Bad News.”

Since forming in the unlikely locale of Rainier, Oregon, four years ago this trio of childhood friends – which also includes bassist Matt Koenig and drummer Josh Baird – have been touring constantly, and fine-tuning their unique blend of melodic pop-punk. Vaughn and Baird actually met back in sixth grade.

‘Good Views, Bad News’ is an album that transcends punk’s regimented subgenres in an effortlessly organic way.  From upbeat pop-punk anthems like ‘Midnight Hour’ to melodic masterpieces like ‘The Sundowners’ and remarkably mature-sounding ballads such as ‘At The End’, ‘Good Views, Bad News’ showcases many musical sides of this immensely collaborative trio. “The first couple of tours we did were with hardcore bands, but we’ve also toured with pop acts,” Vaughn explains, adding that the band share a musical affinity with Chicago punk acts like the Lawrence Arms and Smoking Popes. “I think Broadway Calls definitely straddle a lot of lines and that’s something that’s really important to us.”

Flag In The Ground

PROLOGUE
"In the days when lands were few, and man sometimes had no chance but sell his soul to his landlord to make a living...
In far and away country, they gave acres of land away for free, to all able to claim it... Ships sailed across the great seas, fortunes were made and dreams shattered...
Sometimes couples were torn apart,
for all they could afford...was one ticket."

Leaving my life behind
My young love and the unborn
Only have a lock of her hair...
and burning love inside

After forty work-filled days and sleepless nights,
the sails are lit by the lights of Boston
...and here we go...
Off the ship! Towards the adventure,
the one to define our lives.
Daily grind and a tiny room.

"I got here safe, Love.
I have an address, until spring, then I shall race for the land,
hope to hear from you soon..."

Her letter reads...

"Please let me know everything's alright
Thinking about you, 'though you're out of sight
every night, when I'm turning in, my tears find me.
Please hurry, dear, come back and rescue me..."

"Now that I have made the dollars we need for the dream.
The best horse I've ever seen,
a carriage and everything I need...
I will make my way to the great unknown
Every moment I wish you were here with me now...

"Please let me know everything's alright...."

"No, I'm not a stranger, among the people in here...
Yet I have never felt so alone...
At high noon the sound will boom,
and I will start racing for the
land we can call home."

"I stuck my...
flag in the ground, screaming 'n shouting,
I've never felt so proud, Love!
We are free from eternal serfdom!
I'm gonna bring you home, my light!"

"nine, eight, seven, six, counting the days. SOLO!"
"five, four, three, two, together forever! SOLO!"

I made my way into the great unknown
Land by the river, and a new built home.
I am the land and the land is me
Freedom is everything and we are free

I made my way into the great unknown
Land by the river, and a new built home.
Every night, when I'm looking at the full moon rising
I hold you and know that we are free...

TWENTY TWENTY
“STORY OF OUR LIVES”

Single: Story of Our Lives
released: 14th September 2009

The O2 Academy UK Headline Tour
Commencing: 8th September 2009

Twenty Twenty are a three piece band hailing from Essex who have been causing a stir with their catchy power pop since their debut show in March 2009. Made up of Halliday brothers Sam (guitar/vocals), Jack (bass/vocals) and Sonny Watson-Lang (drums/vocals), they are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.

In just 4 months Twenty Twenty have come from nowhere to a point where they can already sell-out shows in their adopted home city of London. Their fan base grows daily and the boys keep in close contact making themselves readily accessible to their adoring fans.

Twenty Twenty are scheduled to play their own “Raise Your Hands” O2 Academy headline tour in September, promoting their second single ‘Story of Our Lives’ which is due for release on September 14th. The accompanying video has just been shot in the heart of London’s Docklands overlooking The O2 Arena where over 200 fans appeared as extras.

Eagar to build upon their existing fan base, they have been introducing themselves to crowds at various shows around the UK including, Go: Audio, Elliot Minor and Metro Station. Alex Davies, front man of Elliot Minor is quoted as saying just how talented the Twenty Twenty boys are.

Twenty Twenty have already performed at high profile shows such as The Blastbeat Festival with Go:Audio, as well as touring with Saving Aimee and The Mission District. They have recently even performed alongside Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity. They still have summer bookings left to play with the likes of The Automatic, JLS, Blue and The Sugababes.

Twenty Twenty have passion and flair for what they do and their commitment, drive and enthusiasm is now paying off. These are three boys to watch out for - this is only the beginning!

Controversial Crunk-core pioneers BrokeNCYDE have announced an exclusive one off show in London. The band checked in with this message:

“UK! brokeNCYDE is coming back to the UK and we can’t wait. We had such an awesome time last time but didn't get to play London so we’re really excited about finally playing the capital of England. Come down to the Barfly on 24th August and get your crunk on with us. See you there!”

Bursting onto the scene earlier this year, brokeNCYDE have polarised opinion across the musical world, garnering both loyal and adoring fans as well as viscous haters. Currently on the Warped Tour in the USA, the band are continuing to make their mark on the world, having racked up over 42 million plays on their MySpace, with no sign of slowing down.

First stop was a packed-to-the-rafters London show, next was opening the main stage at Download festival, now it’s time for Hollywood Undead - six of the most notorious guys in rock/rap - to bring their hip hop swagger mixed with brooding, hard rock aggression to the UK live scene this winter.

The Californian group will be headlining a six-date UK tour (with support from Escape The Fate), playing tracks from their debut record 'Swan Songs' which includes their two Radio One-backed tracks ‘Undead’ and ‘Young’.

Hollywood Undead are group members Deuce who bursts out the melodies, Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog and Charlie Scene who lead the lyrical charge, while Funny Man drops the rhymes and Da Kurlzz hypes the fray.

2009 UK Tour dates:

November 30th - O2 Academy 2, Birmingham

December 1st - The Garage, Glasgow

December 2nd - Metropolitan University, Leeds

December 4th - O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, London

New Yorker’s Alberta Cross have today unveiled a brand new track from their long awaited debut LP.  Entitled ‘Leave us and Forgive Us’, the track is available to download for FREE from the band’s web site, www.albertacross.net.

Following ‘ATX’ being posted on their myspace earlier this month, this is the second glimpse of Alberta Cross’ fantastic new album ‘Broken Side of Time’, which is to be released on September 21st through Ark Recordings.

Visit www.albertacross.net to download the track, or you can embed the download widget on your own web site or blog using the following code:

Fresh from appearances at Coachella, Bonaroo, SXSW and Glastonbury, Alberta Cross are set to release one of 2009’s most anticipated records. More than clever verses and catchy choruses, truly timeless albums offer listeners the keys to another world; they catapult you into another frame of mind and jostle your soul a little bit along the way. ‘Broken Side of Time’ is one of those albums.

‘Broken Side of Time’ took root in an April 2008 jam session, guitarist/vocalist Petter Ericson Stakee and bassist Terry Wolfers’ first with three players they would quickly enlist—guitarist Sam Kearney, drummer Austin Beede and keyboardist Alec Higgins. With the aid of a little drink and a little smoke, the five jammed on a group of Stakee’s then-new songs, giving birth to Alberta Cross’ second incarnation almost immediately: “I remember thinking that night, ‘This is gonna be insane,’” reminisces Stakee.

Their well-received debut EP, 2007’s The Thief & the Heartbreaker, was a modest, folk-minded, acoustic-based disc that garnered glowing reviews. But, for Stakee and Wolfers, it was a baby step. This, meanwhile, is a giant stride ahead, one that marks the band’s official introduction to America. Recorded in Austin, produced by the band with Mike McCarthy (Spoon, Dead Confederate, Heartless Bastards) & mixed by John O’Mahony (Depeche Mode, Coldplay, Kasabian) at Electric Lady Studios, the album melds propulsive, throbbing bass lines and crashing waves of guitar to a haunting, impassioned voice that can sound ancient and Appalachian.

Alberta Cross have toured extensively through the UK, sharing the stage with Oasis, The Shins, Bat for Lashes and Simian Mobile Disco, among others. “If we weren’t playing for people every night, we would be going mad” Stakee says. Adds Wolfers, “we do it, because we need to.”

Y NOT FESTIVAL 2009

What’s on at Y Not this year

With just a few days to go things at the Y Not Festival Camp are all falling into place. This year will see around 4000 revelers pitch up at a festival that just a few years ago barely filled a small quarry.

The stages now have their own names and organisers say they’ve gone back to the festivals’ roots to find them. “The Big Gin Stage” (The main stage) will host the festival’s biggest acts. Y Not Festival started life as “The Big Gin Fest” taking its name from the local village Biggin. Through the day the onsite film crew will be interviewing festival goers and as the day continues, a lucky few will have their interviews played to the 4000 capacity audience on the onstage 20 square metre screen!
“The Quarry” (The second stage) will also be home to some incredible acts like Frank Turner and Beardyman. Here you’ll find a relaxed, intimate atmosphere sitting on hay bales watching bands close up under the shelter of a big top marquee.
The final stage is “The Beat Barn”. This will showcase not only local legend YNF resident DJs Oli Wynn, Jacktooth and Chris Millward but also The Whip!

The last month has seen some bands pull out but even higher profile acts step up to the mark. The full lineup has now been announced as:

The King Blues
Noah and the Whale
The Young Knives
Nine Black Alps
Johnny Foreigner
Baddies
The Boxer Rebellion
Bombay Bicycle Club
The Sunshine Underground
Detroit Social Club
Beardyman
Frank Turner
Johnny Flynn
Sam Beeton

Over the three day weekend there will be lots on offer aside from the music. There’s a brand new kid’s area and a whole host of quirky workshops to get involved with including circus skills, salsa and cocktail making!  For the early arrivals there’s even the chance to really get involved and paint the backdrop for the Quarry Stage!

Weather permitting there will be a free tethered hot air balloon on Friday so punters can ride up into the air to get a great view of all the action!

The Y Not Festival opens at 10am on Friday the 31st of July and closes at 12 noon on Monday the 3rd of August.
Tickets on the gate are subject to availability and organisers are confident that this year will be the first sell out event. For up to date ticket availability visit the www.theynf.co.uk.

"One of the main guidelines for making "Back In Blood" was our producer's idea to make an album that our fans wanted to hear from us. Matt Hyde wanted us to make a record that our fans have been loyally waiting for. "Back In Blood" is first and foremost made for The 69 Eyes FANS - for those who have been there with us for all these years, with or without our tattoos, vampire blood starting to run in their undead hearts when we come to the town..."

Fightstar reach new heights during launch of new single ‘Never Change’

“the band are loud and gritty whilst still retaining their catchy melodies…” Kerrang

“…convincing evidence they are due for a reappraisal…impressive melding of Biffy Clyro’s pop sense and Mastodon’s whales-on-parade sound NME

Marking the arrival of new single ‘Never Change’ this Monday (20th July 2009) Fightstar played an exclusive acoustic set on top of a central London high rise roof.  A selection of fans were invited to witness the intimate performance which saw the band play tracks from their new album ‘be human’ alongside some classic early Fightstar material.

During the evening one lucky fan was presented with a signed guitar from the band worth £600, in recognition of achieving the highest score on the bands own iPhone application – Spilt Milk.  Outstanding views of the London skyline and a perfect soundtrack made the launch of the new single a complete success.

Fightstar played:

Palanuiks Laughter

The English Way

99

Paint Your Target

Never Change

Amethyst

Mercury Summer

The band played T4 On The Beach last weekend as well as headlining the 2000 Trees Festival.  They also recently appeared at Radio 1’s Big Weekend and played an amazing set at Download to 30,000 passionate fans.  Before embarking on their headline tour in October Fightstar will be playing the main stages at the Reading and Leeds Festivals 2009.

21/07/2009 Scottish quartet To Catch A Thief are fast becoming a seriously exciting proposition. With a sound that encompasses riff-based heaviness, massive melody and emotionally charged intensity, they are like a distillation of what makes modern guitar based music thrilling. Check em out at -

To Catch A Thief's new EP 'Curious Tales and Fierce Beasts' is due for release on August 10 2009 on Colour Records. Building on the success of both 2008's 'Your Eyes Will Burn' and 2007's eponymously titled EP's, this five tracker is a jaw-droppingly accomplished record.

Produced with startlingly clarity and power by Romesh Dodangoda (Funeral For A Friend, Kids In Glass Houses), the five tracks all display an uncommon maturity and depth. 'Not Guilty' is a driving anthem layered with intricacy and performed with the deftest of touches. (And possessed of the kind of chorus that musical empires are founded on!).

'1000 Miles Away' is a gentle invocation that ebbs and flows until suddenly bursting into a goose bump inducing climax.

And 'The Hunted', capably demonstrates the band's addictive blend of passion and aggression.

"We couldn't be happier with the new record," says frontman Ali Lane, "We've really moved forward, developed our sound, and written the record we knew we were capable of writing. We couldn't have written the songs that we have without playing the amount of shows we have done in the last 2 and a half years, and without going through the natural progression that we have done."

Indeed the band have readily embraced the age old ethos of 'make it happen on the road'. Numerous tours with the likes of Senses Fail, Fei Comodo, InMe, Elliot Minor and Flood of Red (as well as an endless procession of headline shows) has honed and sharpened their sound immensely. And the band have no intention of stopping anytime soon.

"As far as the future goes, we'll keep touring as much as we can and hope people are into this record. We wanted to write a record that people will fall in love with and I think we've done that."

* BLITZKRIEG FILL LAST MAIN STAGE SLOT *
* EDENS CURSE, DARKNESS DYNAMITE and MALEFICE
added to SOPHIE LANCASTER STAGE *

THE MAIN STAGE IS FULL! The latest addition to the BOA 2009 line up comes in the form of NWOBHM heroes BLITZKRIEG. Formed in Leicester in 1980, the band released their debut single in 1981 via NEAT Records. The B-Side, a track simply called “Blitzkrieg”, was covered by a young Thrash band called METALLICA, who released their version of the song on their “Creeping Death” EP 3 years later. With their 30th birthday approaching next year, BLITZKRIEG are starting the celebrations early with an appearance at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2009.

Three more additions on the SOPHIE LANCASTER stage come in the form of melodic Metallers EDEN’S CURSE, DARKNESS DYNAMITE who will be bringing their metallic brand of rock-core on the ferry from France, and homegrown heroes MALEFICE, who are looking forward to tearing BLOODSTOCK a new one, as well as pay tribute to the girl who lends her name to the stage:

“We’re delighted to be asked to appear on Bloodstock 2009. We’re even more honoured to be a part of the Sophie Lancaster Stage, as the disgusting nature of her death is something I speak about on the track “Sickened” on our latest album “Dawn Of Reprisal”. Sophie was killed because of the way she looked, and at the end of the day this is no different to being killed because of the colour of your skin or your religious beliefs. We hope this will be an ongoing tribute to Sophie, and support Bloodstock in their efforts to stamp out mindless hatred and hypocrisy wherever it may be”.

* JOHN BUSH TO SING FOR ANTHRAX AT KNEBWORTH *

* PARADISE LOST JOIN SATURN STAGE ON SUNDAY *

* ABBA GO METAL? *

SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH is so close you can count down the days with your fingers (if you still have them all), but that hasn’t stopped the organisers from throwing a few more treats into the mix. The first question on most SONISPHERE ticket holders minds is - WILL ANTHRAX PULL OUT?!

Well, we can safely inform you that ANTHRAX will be at KNEBWORTH to bring the noise and get the mosh going. What’s more, they will be performing with long time ex-vocalist JOHN BUSH. The band released the following statement:

“As announced last week, thrash legends ANTHRAX regretfully cancelled the first three dates on the second leg of their European tour due to new vocalist Dan Nelson's unexpected illness.  An additional seven European dates are also cancelled, those scheduled from July 22 to July 30.   Anthrax is thrilled to announce that they will play the August 1 Sonisphere festival in Knebworth, England, with their good friend John Bush joining them for a very special one off performance.

“The members of Anthrax have confirmed the departure of vocalist Dan Nelson.  In light of this development, Anthrax's slot on the U.S. Slipknot dates set for August and September, has also been cancelled. Anthrax is already actively considering lead singer candidates, and looks forward to hitting the road before the end of the year.”

We’re honoured that ANTHRAX have made the decision to soldier on and make SONISPHERE KNEBWORTH their final European Festival show of 2009, and extremely excited at the prospect of once again seeing JOHN BUSH lead the charge! SONISPHERE attendees at Knebworth will have the chance to witness what is most likely John Bush’s FINAL APPEARANCE with ANTHRAX, in what promises to be an historic set - miss this at your peril!

Bringing some Northern Darkness down the A1, Yorkshire Goth Metal pioneers PARADISE LOST will be taking to the SATURN Stage on Sunday. One of the jewels in England’s metal crown, PL’s career has displayed an impressive amount of diversity, having gone from Doom/Death to Gothic Metal to Synth-heavy rock. Having returned to form with 2007’s  “In Requiem”, going back to their Metal roots, the band sit perfectly  on the SONISPHERE line up and we can’t wait to hear the likes of “Hallowed Land”, “Embers Fire” and “Forever After” blasted out across the Knebworth grounds.

Frontman Nick “Moans” Holmes sounds almost as excited as we are: "Really excited about playing the festival as we haven't played the UK for a while! It'll be an early show. I just hope the crowd consists of more than just Milkmen, Postmen and earthworms..."

And lastly - well we promised you a few surprises to make the weekend go with a bang and we can now reveal what may be the biggest surprise so far. ABBA aficionado BJÖRN AGAIN will be taking to the SATURN stage on Saturday 1st August to deliver a set of ABBA songs - in a hard rock/heavy metal style! Endorsed by ABBA singer Agnetha Fältskog, BJÖRN AGAIN is famed for their faithful yet humorous homage to the world’s biggest selling band of all time, having performed over 4000 times across the world. Now, Agnetha Falstart, Benny Anderwear, Frida Longstokin, and Björn Volvo-us are bringing their act to SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH. And what’s more, they won’t just be feeding the crowd ABBA classics. As part of the encore, BJÖRN AGAIN will show it’s respect to SONISPHERE headliners METALLICA, and perform one song selected by the sonispherefestival.s.com board users. Get voting now to decide which of METALLICA’s catalogue you’d like to see given the ABBA treatment!

VANS AND CLASH MAGAZINE TEAM UP TO FIND THE BEST IN NEW MUSIC
RELENTLESS GARAGE 23rd JULY

Its almost time! Over the last few months, bands of all styles have submitted themselves to various judges in the hope of becoming one of two bands to open the Vans Off the Wall Stage at the Relentless Boardmasters Surf, Skate and Music Festival which takes place in Newquay from 5th to 9th August.

Along with this, they are also aiming to win custom guitars and strings courtesy Ernie Ball!

The judges from Clash, Vans, SW1 Productions and Whats On have now picked the final 4 who will play at the Relentless Garage Venue in Islington on Thursday 23rd July.  Those attending the event will be given a voting slip to decide who they think should open the stage.

A spokesperson for Vans had this to say:
"It's the first time the Vans Off the Wall stage will take place in this country, showcasing a great mix of rock and metal bands across the two days.
We were keen to offer the opportunity to lesser known bands to play at a festival that has such as diverse line up. Vans has had a long running affiliation with music from the collaborations we release, to the bands we support, so we know how important it is to nurture talent. We decided to teamed up with Clash magazine to tap into their knowledge of the music industry and along with SW1 Productions who have managed to shortlist four great bands from the many entries we had that would work well as openers on each day”.

There will be special giveaways from Vans, Clash magazine and Relentless plus
a prize draw using the voting slips for tickets to The Relentless Boardmasters in Association with Vans.

The four finalists are below:

AWARD-WINNING London-based rockers Slaves To Gravity will have their debut album ‘Scatter The Crow’ made available through Spinefarm Records UK on August 10th 2009.

Originally self-released on the band’s own Gravitas label in March 2008, ‘Scatter The Crow’ consists of 13 tracks written over the past two years. Featuring the singles/videos ‘Big Red’, ‘Meantime’ and ‘Mr. Regulator’ (all of which charted Top 5 in the UK Rock Chart), ‘Scatter…’ is a harmonious blend of the contemporary and the classic, drawing inspiration from both sides of the Atlantic.

“Hooks the size of Peru and a genuine sense of songwriting style.” – Kerrang!

“Every one of the 13 tracks could be a massive hit.” – Classic Rock

Slaves To Gravity formed in 2006 after the break-up of hard-rock outfit The Ga*Ga*s. Comprising of vocalist/guitarist Tommy Gleeson, bassist Toshi Ogawa and drummer Jason T, the trio were soon joined by Mark Verney of Ariel-X fame on guitar, and have since been building a loyal and ever-growing fan-base on the UK rock circuit.

Following extensive UK tours guesting with acts such as Aiden, Bullet For My Valentine, Brigade and more, as well as an appearance at the prestigious Download Festival in 2008, STG were voted both ‘Best British Newcomer’ at the 2008 Kerrang! Awards and ‘Best New Band’ at the 2008 Rock Sound Awards.

***MOTÖRHEAD & UFO TO HEADLINE BULLDOG BASH 2009

AUGUST 6th, 7th 8th & 9th***

“The Bulldog Bash is in a league of its own, easily ranking among the best festivals in the world, if not actually taking that crown and sticking a nitrous kit on it to see how fast it will go.” Mörat, Kerrang! August 26th 2006.

Legendary British rockers Motörhead and UFO have been confirmed to headline the 23rd annual Bulldog Bash, which takes place August 6th, 7th 8th, & 9th at the festival's usual site at Shakespeare County Raceway, Long Marston, near Stratford On Avon, Warwickshire.

Motörhead’s awesome, searing live set on Saturday August 8th will be the closing highlight of a weekend of hard rock heaven, headlined on Friday August 7th by UFO, with a fantastic line-up of established support acts on the main stage, complemented by a host of exciting up-and-comers on the second, Area81 Rock Club stage.

Fronted by the iconic Lemmy Kilmister, Motörhead, one of rock history’s most pivotal bands, have spent the last few decades bringing the house down with their blistering, blitzkrieg punk-metal juggernaut of a live show since their inception in 1975. If there is one musician who has succeeded in transporting the zeitgeist of the founder days of rock ‘n’ roll to the year 2009, it’s got to be Lemmy. He lives his philosophy uncompromisingly, his bourbon-soaked skin featuring the unambiguous tattoo that sums up his life like no other motto: ”Born to lose – live to win”.

‘Motorizer’, the band’s latest album, blasted into the UK album charts at 32 in September 2008. The Sun’s album review stated “Putting even Keith Richards to shame for hard living, Lemmy is the very epitome of of the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. He’s the leader of Motörhead, the loudest hard rock band in history, a band who are more like infamous Wild West outlaws than musicians. ‘Motorizer’ is their 24th studio album. ‘Runaround Man’s pounding pace is hard to keep up with, with Lemmy’s graveled tones on belting form, while ‘Rock Out’ does exactly what it says on the tin – with the accelerator on the floor. This is a GREAT Motörhead album”. Previous enormously successful albums include “No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith” and “Ace of Spades” the title track of which is probably one of the best known heavy metal tracks of all time. Motörhead have even been awarded a much-coveted Grammy Award - for best metal performance – in 2005, while Lemmy was awarded the Mojo Icon Award in 2008. 4moreinfo - www.imotorhead.com

UFO, the massively successful multi-million selling classic British metal band who were formed in 1969, headline the main stage on Friday August 7th. UFO’s latest studio album, ‘The Visitor’, was released June 2009 to ecstatic reviews. Awarding it 8/10, Classic Rock’s Geoff Barton wrote “This year marks UFO’s 40th anniversary. But instead of the usual bells-and-whistles box sets and career spanning DVDs, we get something rather more prosaic by way of celebration: a brand new studio album. Frontman Phil Mogg doesn’t want to go down the nostalgia route and believes UFO still have plenty to offer in the new-music stakes.  Listening to ‘The Visitor’, it’s difficult to argue with this game-plan. Kicking off with the pulsing and passionate ‘Saving Me’, the 61-year old Mogg rolls back the years and puts in a vocal display on a par with his ‘Strangers In The Night’ heyday. There’s a Southern Rock and/or country flavour to several of the tracks (‘Stop Breaking Down’ begins like ZZ Top, ‘Rock Ready’ kicks off with some hoedown guitar), evidence of a slight tweaking of UFO’s sound. Throughout, American guitarist Vinnie Moore eschews his shreddy past to deliver a mature, commanding performance, contributing a wealth of sublime guitar solos. From the straight-shootin’ ‘Villains & Thieves’ to the pedal-to-the-metal appeal of ‘Hell Driver’, this is nigh on faultless.” 4moreinfo – www.ufo-music.info

Special guests on Saturday August 8th are Nico’s Alchemy, who released their debut album, ‘Fundamental Darkness’, in February 2009 to rave reviews. Guitar Techniques awarded it 5/5 and made it album of the month, stating; “Nico Tamburella is the man in question here – as lead guitarist, songwriter and driving force of this quartet, it’s from him that the band gets its name. The other band members help to generate the alchemy by performing their perspective roles with force and inspiration. This is a hard rocking sound that owes its roots to the 70’s…The material is as strong as the sound of the band: tight, concise and varied enough to please all.” 4moreinfo - www.nicosalchemy.com

Special guests on Friday August 7th are Oliver/Dawson Saxon, formed by two founder members of Saxon, guitarist Graham Oliver and bassist Steve Dawson, who always bring the house down with a select selection of songs from Saxon’s incredibly successful days in the early 80’s, which they co-wrote when the band were at the forefront of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Fronted by ex-Hurricane, Madam X, Shame and Shy vocalist John ‘Wardi’ Ward, the line-up also includes former Saracen guitarist Haydn Conway and ex-Saxon drummer Nigel Durham. 4moreinfo - www.myspace.com/httpwwwmyspacecomods

Opening proceedings on the evening of Thursday August 6th will be top tribute bands Stingchronicity (The Police), (6.30 – 7.30) Metallica UK (8.00 – 9.00) and Hells Bells (AC/DC) [9.30 – 11.00pm].

The full main stage line-up:-

Friday August 7th

9.30 – 11.00       UFO

8.00 – 9.00         OLIVER/DAWSON SAXON

6.40 – 7.40         NEVER THE BRIDE

4.00 – 4.30         ADAM BOMB

The second, Area81 Rock Club stage, predominantly features the following up and coming bands who have showcased at Bristol’s underground Area81 Rock club and impressed:- Hellbound, Big Num, Zombie Met Girl, The Buffalo Kings, Voodoo Johnson, Fury UK, Desert Storm, Imicus, Somnus, Riot Noise, The Leftovers, Smackla, Futs Lung, The Original Sinners, Psychowrath, Pickups N Pitchforks and Switchblade.

The Bulldog Bash is widely acknowledged as the safest live music festival in Britain – but it is much, much more than just a gig; The Bulldog Bash is the best biker event in Europe. A huge variety of non-musical attractions includes jet-force cars and rocket propelled bikes hurtling down the drag strip, huge custom bike and car exhibitions, an awesome dance tent, a topless bike (& anything else) wash, Ken Fox’s world famous ‘Wall Of Death’ show, wrestling bouts, a veritable village of stalls selling all kinds of biking and alternative lifestyle kit and loads of ludicrous white-knuckle rides. There really is more to do than you can shake a stick at!

SONISPHERE HITS THE AIRWAVES WITH NME RADIO SHOW

SOiL EXCLUSIVE UK FESTIVAL APPEARANCE

With less than two weeks to go, and a line up crammed with the hottest names in rock and metal, SONISPHERE organisers have still managed to pull another exclusive performance out the bag. Flying in from Chicago, Illinois, hard rock heroes SOiL will be making their only UK festival appearance at KNEBWORTH. The band are very much looking forward to their flying visit, and giving fans a chance to hear some brand new material. Bassist Tim King comments:

"We are extremely excited to be part of the Sonisphere festival this year. We have just finished recording the new SOiL album "Picture Perfect". This will be an exclusive one date UK show to play some new material for the fans, as well as, some old classics!"

Their addition to the bill was a no-brainer.; With monster hits such as “Unreal”, “Redefine” and “Halo”, SOiL’s set promises to be one of the festival highlights, and even casual listeners will not be able to resist loudly singing along when the chorus of “Halo” kicks in. SOiL – you can’t help but dig it!

And that’s not all - there’s even more reason to be excited in the run up to SONISPHERE FESTIVAL KNEBWORTH! On Sunday 26th July NME Radio launches it’s first edition of the weekly METAL HAMMER MELTDOWN show, hosted by Gill and Beez from the award winning METAL HAMMER magazine. The first SONISPHERE sponsored show goes out from 7-9pm, with lots of awesome Knebworth related content. Expect brand new music from new and established acts and classics from the old time faves, as well as plenty of hard rocking hits from the SONISPHERE line up. Also in the show will be the chance to win VIP tickets for SONISPHERE, as well as an interview with SONISPHERE director/organiser Stuart Galbraith.

This is exciting news for the rock and metal community, which has been crying out for a new specialist show. Now there’s brand new weekly two hour show, hosted by experts, dedicated to all the best things in the world of METAL. And what’s more, the Sonisphere action will continue long after the last tent has been forced back into it’s bag. Over the course of the SONISPHERE weekend, Gill and Beez will be on site gathering exciting content from the festival, to run on the show throughout August. Expect exclusive interviews, backstage gossip as well as hard hitting tunes from the bands that made it all happen.

Tune in on Sunday at 7pm at www.nme.com/radio, Sky 0184, Virgin Media 975, Freesat 727 or DAB in London to listen!

“This new record is the most progressive, sorrowful, beautiful and evil one we have done so far. This time around, you can never be sure where the songs are going to take you. The depths of hell and heaven are carved deep into these songs”.

The eight tracks on ‘New Moon’ are the first to feature new drummer Kai Hahto (Wintersun, ex-Rotten Sound), who replaces Pasi Pasanen in the ranks.

THE FULL TRACKLISTING FOR ‘NEW MOON’ IS AS FOLLOWS:

Their next confirmed date over here is at this year’s Metalfest in Dudley on September 26th.

Spinefarm Records UK recently re-issued the bands’ first two albums – ‘The Morning Never Came’ (originally released in 2003) and ‘Ghosts Of Loss’ (2005). The classic ‘Hope’ album, which charted in the Finnish Top 3 back in 2007, has also been re-issued by Spinefarm in the UK.

NOT ADVISED to 'Fight For This' on September 14th!

Hampshire based pop-rockers Not Advised have been bubbling under the surface within a flourishing UK scene for quite some time now, but ‘Fight For This’, with it’s huge hooks – is the sound of a band ready to break out and really start making a name for themselves.

Having played their P.M.A fuelled brand of rock alongside the likes of You Me At Six, Kids In Glass Houses and The Blackout, Not Advised are no strangers to hard graft and the belief that with the right application and determination you make your own luck and opportunities. Evidence of this is perfectly reflected in the title of this EP, with the five tracks all echoing their uplifting sentiment.

The subject matter of EP opener, ‘A Red Light Situation’, perfectly sums up the band’s happy go lucky outlook, as guitarist, Jack Fairbrother, explains, “it’s about a red engine management light which comes on in our van meaning we have to pull over on the hard shoulder to restart the van. Some of our funniest times in this band have been on the hard shoulder when our van’s broken. I guess there’s a message there, in that although things always seem to be going wrong, we’re having the time of our lives and “wouldn’t change this place for anything”.

EVERY TIME I DIE HAVE A NEW JUNK AESTHETIC ON SEPTEMBER 14 2009

Hardcore-rock band Every Time I Die announce new album

Warning: an excess of blood, sweat and beers were spilled during the making of 2009’s most anticipated hardcore-rock album, Every Time I Die’s New Junk Aesthetic, out September 14th via Epitaph. Thankfully the band has emerged relatively unscathed and more than ready to rouse the hellion legions with their most brutally delectable record yet.

While there’s no exact science to the resulting madness that is ETID’s signature blend of turned-to-eleven hardcore mixed with southern-fried metal, over the last decade the band has consistently produced fan-favorite releases from albums Big Dirty to Hot Damn!, with New Junk Aesthetic as icing on the proverbial metallic cake.

"New Junk Aesthetic is not the next logical step in the progression of Every Time I Die,” explains front-man Keith Buckley.  “It is an evolutionary leap.  It’s as if we have morphed from a single-celled bacteria straight to the guy with the dirt bike that will let you watch his older sister suntan if you steal him a smoke from your parents.  Certainly you may acknowledge similarities, but on a grand scale, they stand light years apart."

Maniacal, convulsive and completely unpredictable are but a few words that come to mind when listening to New Junk Aesthetic.  With ‘Big Dirty’ producer Steve Evetts at the helm again, ETID set out to corrupt souls and bring fans to their knees with an orchestrated chaos of their heaviest most skillful album.

Like the calm before a storm, New Junk Aesthetic opens with the metal-gazer, doom-ridden track “Roman Holiday,” and then quickly segues like a sucker-punch into the thrashing first single, “The Marvelous Slut” (featuring guest vocals from Greg Puciato of Dillinger Escape Plan), which sets the tone for the remainder of the album.  ETID continues to raise the bar on all fronts, from Andy Williams and Jordan Buckley’s one-two punch on guitars to Josh Newton’s brutish bass rumblings on “For The Record” and Keith Buckley’s stunning vocal range as showcased in the standout thunderous-rock anthem “Wanderlust.”  On the pit-swirler “The Sweet Life, Keith belts out “ain’t nothing gonna break my stride - ain’t nothing gonna slow me down,”,” which features guest vocals from Matt Caughthran (The Bronx), and pretty much sums up the relentless energy of the band and new album.

As visually stunning as they are musically, guitarist Jordan Buckley has been the artistic force behind the ETID’s graphics.  The astonishing cover imagery of New Junk Aesthetic features a mythological god covering his eyes with see-through hands and each song is represented by its own unique artwork.

"Aside from contributing to the creation of the 13 greatest Every Time I Die songs ever written, New Junk Aesthetic will also contain almost 40 pages of my hand rendered illustrations, that, for the first time ever, offer visual insight into the genius lyrics that ETID fans have come to expect from my brother and bandmate Keith,” explains guitarist Jordan Buckley.  “With the band in complete control over what you hear, see and hold, New Junk Aesthetic will move culture into a place where the possession of a CD is an authentic experience so powerful that you won't even be able to cover your eyes; a feeling long overdue, but guaranteed to be worth the wait."

New Junk Aesthetic Tracklisting:

2.     The Marvelous Slut

14/07/2009 The UK’s premier Progressive metallers THRESHOLD are teaming up with SERENITY and SPHERIC UNIVERSE EXPERIENCE up for the first ESSENCE OF PROGRESSION tour across Europe this autumn.

Karl Groom (Threshold, guitar): "The tour this Autumn looks like a great opportunity to play some songs I have long looked forward to. Damian Wilson took on an enormous task of learning so many lyrics since he rejoined the band, but now we have the possibility to work on a whole new live set before recording a new studio album. With some previously unperformed epics and a new stage show I hope fans will enjoy this tour".

Richard West (Threshold, keyboards): "Yeah, it's going to be a very different show from last year, all the songs we've wanted to play for so long are on the list. The tour brings us up to 50 shows promoting our Dead Reckoning album, that's some kind of record for us and we're putting on the best shows of our lives. With Essence of Progression we've got a few things on the table which I hope will make it more than just a tour, and hopefully it's something we'll do every year from now on".

Austrian progressive metallers Serenity will be Threshold's special guests for the tour. They are currently promoting their second album "Fallen Sanctuary", released in 2008 through Napalm Records. Serenity opened for Threshold during their Live Reckoning tour in 2007 and recently supported Kamelot on their Rule The World tour.

French progressive metallers Spheric Universe Experience will open the shows (except London). The band released their third album "Unreal" in 2009. They have opened for acts such as Scorpions and Uli Jon Roth in France, and recently performed at the ProgPower Scandinavia and ProgPower USA festivals.
On opening for Threshold, Spheric Universe Experience commented: "We are greatly honoured, proud and excited to play with such a great band we've been listening to for years".

DINOSUAR JR. ALBUM TOO LOUD?   - ALSO BAND ANNOUNCE LONDON SHOW FOR SEPTEMBER

Dinosaur Jr. have been made aware that the European CD version of their new album “Farm” has an audio problem.

Whilst duplicating the original master, the software program ‘doubled’ the sound layers. This resulted in a 3dB increase in the overall sound volume.

Anyone that has bought a copy of the album with the bar code number 5414939004926, should go to  http://media.pias.com/dinosaurjrfarmcd. and will be told how to exchange their copy.

The band are ’bummed’ that this happened and are not taking the situation lightly.  Both Dinosaur Jr. and their label PIAS would like to offer their fans something extra for this inconvenience, so in addition to a replacement CD, fans can download a free ringtone of the single "Over It".

A valid email address is required to receive the ringtone.  Postage will also be covered to make this exchange easier.

MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA

UK HEADLINE DATES plus Latitude and Reading and Leeds festivals

Album ‘Mean Everything To Nothing’ in stores now

www.myspace.com/manchesterorchestra | www.themanchesterorchestra.com

Andy Hull — vocals, guitar  |  Jonathan Corley — bass  |  Jeremiah Edmond — drums  |  Christopher Freeman — keyboard  |  Robert McDowell — guitar

Atlanta’s Manchester Orchestra, the band are set to return to the UK and Ireland for a string of headline dates and a performance at this year’s Latitude festival.

Inspired by the pounding, primal assault of Weezer’s ‘Pinkerton’, Nirvana’s ‘In Utero’, and Foo Fighters’ ‘The Colour and the Shape’, this young band has created its own version of what a classic rock album should sound like, complete with fiercely beautiful melodies, shifting guitar and keyboard textures, loud/soft dynamics, and an urgency in each band member’s performance, especially Hull’s cathartic vocals.

A fully realized album, ‘Mean Everything To Nothing’ is the sound of a band coming into its own after spending 300 days on the road in support of their debut album, 2007’s ‘I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child’. After more than a year of touring with such artists as Kings of Leon, Brand New, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Say Anything, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, as well as performing their own headlining shows, Manchester Orchestra has become a powerful and well-oiled machine. Set to take this new masterpiece on the road again Manchester Orchestra are an urgent and unmissable live act.

13/07/2009 It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we can confirm SODOM’s exclusive return to the UK - after a 20 YEAR ABSENCE! The German Thrashers, alongside former BLOODSTOCK attendees DESTRUCTION and 2009 partners KREATOR, redefined Thrash in the late 80s, putting Germany firmly on the metal map. Now, after more than two decades absence, Tom Angelripper and co have chosen the most metal place in the UK – BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR – for their return performance. Classics such as “Deathlike Silence”, “Iron Fist”, “Persuction Mania”, “Magic Dragon” and “Better Off Dead” will be blasted out to a sea of raised horns, many of which will belong to people seeing SODOM in the UK for the very first time.

It is an honour to be able to reunite SODOM with their UK fans and vice versa - see you in the pit!

13/07/2009 L.A. BRUISERS FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will release the first single from their second studio album, ‘War Is The Answer’ on July 27th 2009. Titled “Hard To See”, and with another new track “Bulletproof” included as a bonus, the single will be available as a digital download initially, with physical formats to follow.

(“Bulletproof” is currently streaming on the Spinefarm Records UK Myspace page).

5FDP have just filmed a video for “Hard To See”, and will shortly be leaving for their first ever dates in Australia and Japan

Commenting on the new album, band guitarist and main songwriter Zoltan Bathory says:-

“This record has been co-produced by Kevin Churko, who was heavily involved with Ozzy’s ‘Black Rain’ album, and it’s currently being mixed by Randy Staub, whose track record includes Metallica amongst many others …

“In terms of the overall style, I would say that we’ve continued the journey we started on the first album, so there’s a healthy balance of melody and aggression, and as always we concentrated on writing strong metal songs in the traditional sense.

“There’s some epic moments on the record, and there’s some straight-up home-wreckers, too. All I can say is, those who liked our first album are going to LOVE this one!”

FFDP’s debut outing ‘The Way Of The Fist’ has now sold close to 400,000 copies worldwide; it was released in January 2009 via Spinefarm Records UK.

13/07/2009 Kilimanjaro, promoter of the upcoming NIN/JA 2009 shows – featuring NINE INCH NAILS and JANE’S ADDICTION – have released extra standing and great sightline seats for the two arena shows scheduled for next week. Enigmatic NIN mainman Trent Reznor has stated on numerous occasions that this current tour will be the band’s last, with these two shows being the last chance for UK fans to see the band in an Arena setting. The band are also performing at the debut UK Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth in August.

History of Guns are Max Rael on machines and guitars and Del Alien, the voice behind the collaboration. The title for ‘Slice Up Your Wife’ comes from an overheard conversation between two members of staff at Forbidden Planet in London back in 1997 – providing alternate lyrics for the original Spice Girls song ‘Spice Up Your Life’, originally written by Stannard, Rowe and the Spice Girls. History of Guns’ next album release will be Whatever You Do, Don’t Turn Up At Twelve, which is set for release later this year.

“History of guns are a fascinating and intricate proposition…a band that show no ego and no restraint, simply letting the message speak within the music” -The Dreaded Press

“…oddly brilliant, like a goth metal Underworld”  - Metal Hammer

“Uneasy listening of the finest order. 9/10” – Rocksound

History of Guns released their ground-breaking album Acedia last year, which was met with a wealth of positive reviews. The album is filled to the brim with a reasoned and intelligent nihilistic hatred, both moving and darkly fascinating. A cruel, relentless work of experience, of feeling and of humanity.

“…a Molotov cocktail that is extremely explosive and flammable. A new classic entirely new, shocking, uncompromised, absolutely entertaining and addictive… You will never dismiss this band after listening to this album” – Heathen Harvest

“Not for the faint-hearted…Acedia draws inspiration from a combination of Teutonic Industrial sounds intermingled with the likes of latter day Depeche Mode and second phase ‘new wave’ bands” – Loud Horizon Music

“…a heavy piece of rock-goth dynamite! The guitar parts are simply astonishing, injecting a rare level of aggression into the songs” – Side-Line

History Of Guns double A-side single Empty Eyes / …But I'll Be Waiting was the first single to be taken from Acedia, followed by It’s Easy (To Go Blind) / Exhuast Fumes, bringing together a mix of punk, industrial, electronica, chaos, ambient, dance music, rock, progressive, other worlds, altered states and self-destruction to create a truly unique few minutes of high quality music machinations.

“Listen to this two-track release with an open mind and have your eyes opened” – Artrocker

“An astonishing piece of music” -  CoolNoise

“braced by a shared manic-depression and eerie, misty freakiness” – Bent Magazine

History Of Guns’ debut album Flashes of Light was released on the band's own Liquid Len label in 2004, its 2005 follow-up Apophenia saw the band genre-hopping with each track from dance to punk taking in a lot of other styles in between. Word spread on the underground and live music scene, culminating in the band signing to Line Out Records in 2006. A year later their song Your Obedient Servants came in at no.19 in journalist Mick Mercer's list of Top 30 Singles Of All Time in Record Collector, describing them as “...by far, the most inventive UK band to have got their hands caught in the Industrial threshing machine.”

The band's history has already seen them commissioned by Sony to supply two pieces of music to accompany downloadable clips for the Sony PSP. A tendency to swing wildly from one style to another whilst always being in control keeps History Of Guns fans on their feet. Confrontational, angry and bleak lyrically, the band also manages to be contrastingly touching and melodic without a hint of the pantomime that often comes with bands who consider themselves to be ‘dark’.

“Working with History of Guns is terrifying and exhilarating. They leave no space for ego and refuse to compromise musically. Never scared to try something new, never afraid to risk scaring off the audience, which as yet they have failed to do. Truly captivating aural abuse.” - Bob Barker - Line Out Records.

After taking on Daft Punk’s ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ a few months ago, the audacious Son of Dave has put his harmonica and vocal skills to the test again, transforming Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden’s hit ‘Bonkers’

By way of explanation, here’s a note from the man himself:

My Dearest Audience,

The publicists and admen will be circulating a little film of me, Son of Dave, performing a zippy new song by Dizzee Rascal. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It's quite an amusing tune, though it has too many words for my taste.

Some of you from the Grime scene may stumble in to watch by accident. I hope you aren't affronted. Please don't send hate mail or stab me in the bum. I'm just a musician, and a family man. I'm not the enemy!

If there are any cats from Radio One, watching, it's my distinct pleasure to distract you from your daily Grime. Now play the Son of Dave singles that have been sitting on your desks, and I'll send you some free clean undershirts.

Please read the Stool Pigeon for my latest column on the G20 Demo, visit the Myspace site which I'm told is quite good, and the Blog where all sorts of nerds hang out. And kids, pay for your downloads, or we musicians aren't going to bother entertaining you anymore. You're getting on our nerves, frankly.”

INNERPARTYSYSTEM have issued a statement following recent developments that have occurred with the band, as well as releasing a free mixtape download to coincide with their summer-long run on the Vans Warped Tour and the launch of a new forum-based website. Check the mixtape out at www.innerpartysystem.net!

The band has the following to say regarding their current situation –

“Hello everyone,

We know we’ve been a little elusive as of late with news, but we have a few really big updates.

First off: Innerpartysystem is no longer on Island Records. There’s really nothing else to be said there. There are some really amazing, overworked, underpaid, stressed out people who love music, working very hard there… and there are a handful of people who just didn’t really understand this band, and didn’t know how to react when ‘Don’t Stop’ wasn’t ‘Just Dance.’ Our bad there. There’s a particularly badass crew at Island UK, who really fought and worked the hell out of this brand new, no name band from America, and we’re sincerely thankful that we've had the team by our side to help build such a strong foundation. At the end of the day, our label teams made this past year possible, gave us the freedom to make the album we wanted to make, and provided the opportunity for us to build our (albeit extremely modest) studio and stage show. So thank you! This is a very exciting time for us. We also realize that now, more than ever, we need to directly connect with our fans. There’s no amount of marketing money that is more valuable than IPS being able to directly communicate with you, and let you know exactly what’s going on in our world. With that in mind, our tech guru/ soundman extraordinaire, Andy, has put together innerpartysystem.net. Innerpartysystem.net is a forum site specifically for IPS fans where we can communicate with you directly, and most importantly, use it as a place to give you free exclusive music, videos, and whatever else the gods of the interweb may dream up. To celebrate the launch, we’re posting a free download of our ‘Official Warped Tour/Summer Mixtape,’ featuring most of our remixes from the past year, artists we love, and a few new surprises. For the audiophiles, we’ve also posted stems for you to remix and DJ including: ‘Obsession,’ ‘Heart Of Fire,’ ‘Last Night In Brooklyn,’ ‘New Poetry,’ and ‘Don’t Stop.’

Fans of IPS, we appreciate you. We need you. We wouldn’t exist without you. We can’t wait to share new music with you later this year, and we hope to see tons of you all this summer on Warped Tour. Until next time.

-IIIII”

We The Faceless return with their new single Isle of Dogs. A face shredding mix of grunge, rock and metal guitar mixed with hardcore vocals. Isle of Dogs sees the London based four piece once again bring their unique brand of vocal aggression and blistering rifts together to create 3 minutes of 90’s hardcore grunge fused with modern day vocals.

The single follows the release of the “We The Faceless EP” which lead to regular airplay on Kerrang! Radio’s Unsigned Show with Alex Baker and an invitation to record a live session on July 5th in support of their new single. Their debut success has also lead to shows at the North by Northwest Festival in Blackpool and a recent packed out and sweaty show in Spain amongst others.

‘Absolutely awesome… I love it…these guys will go all the way!’

Alex Baker – Kerrang Radio, Unsigned Show

Fuelled by the punk, hardcore and grunge scenes of the 90's, ‘We The Faceless’ first burst onto the London music scene in March 2007 to form their own subversive brand of noise attack. The group consists of Jack (vocals) born in Cape Town, South Africa, Diego (bass) born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Pete (drums) born in Dumfries, Scotland and Travis (guitar) born in Malta. Blistering live shows have seen the four piece trail blaze a new path across a crippled scene – forever imbedding their name into the hearts and minds of those who have been fortunate enough to see them tear venues apart.

Exhibits an overwhelmingly emotive, tightly produced, highly current and realist tone of artistic maturity.

Power Play Magazine

Do make sure to catch these boys live. Just make sure you don’t take them home to meet your mother…

‘…The fact that these guys flog rock to an inch of its life is undeniable.’

08/07/2009 FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND hit the road in the UK this autumn to support the release of 'Your History Is Mine: 2002-2009', a collection of their classic tracks that brings us right up to date with the inclusion of 4 new songs.

'It'll be quite a nice change to go out on tour and not have to concentrate on representing our latest album, instead putting together a set that represents all our best material from day one until now', says drummer/vocalist Ryan Richards. 'It'll be great to do some B-sides and rare stuff too that we've maybe not had time to fit in the set in the past. It makes a lot more sense to include those songs now that we have a whole CD of rarities and B-sides coming out, and some of those songs will probably never be played after this tour either. The most exciting thing for us though, is getting out and playing brand new stuff for the first time. Especially since it's the first material we've written with Gav in the band. It'll be a nice trip down memory lane, as well as a peek into the future of the FFAF.'

The tour calls at the following venues:

Mon 05 Oct PLYMOUTH Hippo
Tue 06 Oct PORTSMOUTH Pyramid
Thu 08 Oct EXETER Lemon Grove
Fri 09 Oct BRIGHTON Concorde 2

SO three years in, a million shows played, friendships won and lost… If you didn’t already realise, a 13 minute 12" (‘THINK’) doesn’t constitute an LP, so it’s now time for LOVVERS (before you ask it's two "V"s because it looks good) to release their first LP, ‘OCD GO GO GO GIRLS’. What are you going to write about them this time?

"The vocals are too low?"
"Lo-fi English punk band?"
"Nick Zinner's a fan?"

Well, en route from rocking The Smell in LA, touring with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and playing god knows how many shows at SXSW, they’ve set about making a record that in their own words is “an unconventional weird pop record”. Comparisons to Mark Sultan and Clorox Girls are clear but it kicks off with something that almost resembles The Clash. This isn’t "Overpowered By Funk" but more "Career Opportunities" then next we get the Ramones meets Minutemen then 13th Floor Elevators.

Whilst this is budget rock, this time around the budget was actually pretty good so they relocated to Jackpot! Studios (owned by Larry Crane, editor of Tape Op Magazine)  in the musical Mecca of Portland, Oregon. With Pat Kearns (Red Dons, Clorox Girls, Exploding Hearts) manning the desk they set about making a record that you're definitely going to want to keep spinning for some time from now.

‘OCD GO GO GIRLS’ is the title of the first single, released on August 3rd, which takes the Real Kids or Television and perhaps adds a touch of influence from some of Lovvers’ other favourite bands, such as No Age or Times New Viking.

The album is new-meets-old but by the end it’s fuzzed out Woodstock. This is vintage stuff; a completely analogue recording. New instruments have been embraced but when was the last time an independent English band made an interesting, raw, guitar record?

As LOVVERS frontman, Shaun Hencher puts it “there's a wealth of American bands, it's a good time, but when was the last time we championed our own? With bands like Shitty Limits, Hipshakes and, hopefully, us raising the stakes, surely it's time for people to stop listening to what they're told and make up their own minds. And when was the last time that happened? (If I remember correctly there was a baby on that cover as well.)”

WHAT’S IN A GO?!

NB: Lovvers like to keep us on our toes, so the album title – ‘OCD GO GO GO GIRLS’ has an extra ‘GO’ to the single, which is called just ‘OCD GO GO GIRLS’. Get it? Got it. Good.

ENTER SHIKARI

New single “No Sleep Tonight” released August 17th

www.entershikari.com   www.myspace.com/entershikari

Following the 'Radio One A-listed', 'Top 30', '<insert press release cliché>' single “Juggernauts”, the genre-shattering, 'just missed out on Top 10 because we only went and forgot about Father’s Day’ and the "must get last-minute dad-rock Best Of" skewing effect is has on the charts (my father lives in Norway and doesn't 'do' Father's Day... that's MY excuse, anyway. Can't speak for everyone else) album “Common Dreads”, and the band's first ever Glastonbury performance, we launch upon the airwaves the second Enter Shikari single of 2009... the very mighty “No Sleep Tonight”. (That was a long sentence, wasn't it?).

The single hits record store / iTunes etc on Monday 17th August, just prior to the band's debut main stage Reading / Leeds performances, and comes backed with an array of (even if we do say so ourselves) particularly awesome remixes... namely three slabs of drum'n'bass from The Qemists, Hospital Records' Mistabishi, and Enter Shikari's own Rout, plus a pop electro mix from teenage Kent duo Lightsgoblue. A fancy bundle of the formats (which also includes a nice little “No Sleep Tonight” condom) is currently available for pre-order from the store at www.entershikari.com.

A video for “No Sleep Tonight” has been filmed and is ready to be seen by public eyes. It was directed by Shane Davey (who was also responsible for the “Juggernauts” video). It will be placed in all the places music videos go, but if you would rather have it delivered to your computer just have a word with whoever sent you this rambling missive.

A UK tour was announced last week, with a number of venues (including the 2900 capacity Roundhouse in London) selling half their tickets in the first 5 days of sale thus far.

Enter Shikari have also been announced as nominees in the categories of Best British Band and Best Live Band in the 2009 Kerrang! Awards. Nice.

METRO STATION

‘Seventeen Forever’

New single to be released July 20th 2009

www.metrostationmusic.com | www.myspace.com/metrostation

The phenomenon that is METRO STATION return this month with new single ‘Seventeen Forever’. Previous single ‘Shake It’ propelled the band to significant popularity in the UK and sold over 240,000 copies/downloads in this country alone. If ever a band defined the term ‘internet phenomenon’ it’s Metro Station. The newest names to hit the MySpace generation, the LA band who formed as 17 year olds, just two years ago, have witnessed an incredible 28 million plays across four tracks on MySpace alone. Then there’s the 35 million plays across three videos on YouTube (including 23.5 million views of ‘Shake It’ alone) plus 29k page views on Bebo and 16.7k fans. You get the picture.

The story began two years ago on the set of Disney teens’ favourite Hannah Montana, where Trace and Mason were set up on a ‘rock’n’roll ‘blind date’ by their respective mums who knew they had so much in common. With Trace being the older half-brother of Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus (and son of Billy Ray Cyrus) and Mason the brother of the show’s Oliver Oken, actor Mitchel Musso, you’d expect pop music to be part of the Metro Station make-up. And it is. But not how you’d imagine. “We’re pop but electronic pop. Our music is all about dancing and having a good time. The band we all love which influenced all of us is The Postal Service. We love that style of music,” says Trace. It was when Trace and Mason met synths whiz Blake Healy, poached from another band, Synthetic Joy via a MySpace message, that Metro Station started to find their sound. Drummer Anthony Improgo completes the quartet.

Trace comments of his family Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus - “When people meet me and they find out who my sister and my dad are, they are shocked. The type of music that Metro Station make is different to theirs, it’s different to anything out there. And that’s why so many people respect us.” The band’s latest video for forthcoming single ‘Seventeen Forever’ actually includes a couple of cameo appearances from the very sister and dad in question so keep your eyes peeled…

‘Seventeen Forever,’ a song written when the guys were 17 year olds, is all about being a kid not ever wanting to grow up. Mason says: “That song means a lot to us, it was the first song we wrote that we knew was special.” The UK single release also features a remix from Lenny B.

Despite meeting on a Hollywood set, Metro Station have always been more interested in fun than fame. “I’ve never had any desire to be famous,” says Trace. “My desire has always been to play music. If it wasn’t for the fans telling us how much they loved the music, we would probably have just made a few songs for ourselves.”

STEVE VAI – “WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE”
CAT NO. FN2610-9

Steve Vai, a true guitar virtuoso renowned worldwide by critics and musicians alike, is releasing “Where The Wild Things Are”, a 2-disc live DVD on 5th October, 2009 on his own label, Favored Nations.

Where The Wild Things Are features 2 hrs 40 mins of Vai in concert, filmed in high definition at the State Theatre, Minneapolis during his recent Sound Theories tour and is the highly anticipated follow-up to Steve’s Visual Sound Theories and multi-platinum Live At The Astoria DVDs.  The DVD also features bonus footage that includes exclusive interviews with band members and Steve’s viral hit promotional video for the Jemini distortion pedal.  The DVD contains both 5.1 and stereo mixes, plus a commentary track featuring Steve and some of his band members.

Other world-class musicians chosen for this band are: Bryan Beller (bass), Jeremy Colson (drums), Dave Weiner (guitar and sitar) and Zack Wiesinger (lap steel).

“When I put a band and a show together I try to create an entertainment experience that I would like to have if I was sitting in the audience,” explains Vai. “I like to witness great musicianship but nothing too cerebral or overindulgent, I like to be stimulated by a large dynamic range of emotional intensities and melodic richness, I enjoy when people love their instrument and it shows by their oneness with it, I like to feel as though I'm part of a family with the audience and the band, and I like to walk away feeling uplifted and not beat up by somebody's ego or the things they hate about themselves and the world. And of course I want a cool t-shirt.”

Krautrock legend speaks out about new Engineers album

Krautrock legend and inspiration behind the record Michael Rother has spoken out today about Engineers’ long awaited second album, Three Fact Fader’, which is released today through Kscope.

Rother, a founding member of Neu!, Harmonia and one-time member of Kraftwerk has commented on the band’s use of a sample from Harmonia song ‘Watussi’ on their album opener and single ‘Clean Coloured Wire’. Discussing the use of the sample he said “I really think that’s a wonderful piece of music. I get goose bumps when I hear the vocals – it’s amazing, it’s very beautiful.” He continues “It’s beautiful to hear results of that kind – it gives me a good feeling for my own music.”

Here’s the video for ‘Clean Coloured Wire’: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjwDkuXLIys

‘Three Fact Fader’, which was streamed for preview on NME.com last week and selected as Sunday Times Culture’s Album of the Week, is the band’s first release since their eponymous debut album – released in 2005 to high critical acclaim.

The band will also be playing their first live show for over 2 years THIS FRIDAY (July 10th) at the decadent Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush – a very special gig that will see German electronica genius Ulrich Schnauss joining in on keyboard duties. A limited number of guest list places are still available, so if you’re interested then get in touch now!

Praise for ‘Three Fact Fader’:

"Engineers transcend shoegazing and approach the heights of Spiritualized at their space-rocking best. We need these guys around" - **** Sunday Times Culture Album Of The Week

LIMP BIZKIT KICKS OFF FIRST U.S. SHOW IN 8 YEARS BY PLAYING FREE IN VEGAS!

GRATIS CONCERT IN GRATITUDE TO FANS AT THE PEARL CONCERT THEATER AT THE PALMS CASINO RESORT JULY 18.

(Santa Monica, CA) June 29, 2009 — They’re ba-ack! Hard-hitting hell-raising heroes Limp Bizkit return to wreak havoc in the U.S. with their first stateside show in eight years! The band will perform a FREE concert at the Pearl Concert Theater at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on July 18th. First come, First serve – you know the drill - Limp Bizkit fans will have to get in gear!

Limp Bizkit are in the middle off their 2009 “Unicorns N Rainbows” tour, which has so far rolled across Europe and Eastern Europe, wowing Bizkit-starved fans in 20 countries. Of their explosive June 12th show at the UK’s Download Festival, one reviewer noted: “Within seconds, the staccato riff of ‘Break Stuff’ had regressed everyone to a screaming teen” and that “every song provoked roars of approval, every line of ‘Nookie’ belted out as if the crowd had written it.” Heavy-music bible Kerrang! anointed Limp Bizkit with their April cover.

Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and DJ Lethal are gearing up to record their first new studio album with the original line-up since 2000's worldwide 12x-platinum Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. As Durst recently told the NME: "I'm having a great feeling about going in and doing our record, more than I have about any of our albums before. It's not going to be a watered-down version of Limp Bizkit, it's going to be a more explosive, more addictive, more driven version of Limp Bizkit."

Flip/Interscope Records will announce more details and a release date in the coming months. The band's first three albums have sold more than 20 million copies in the U.S. alone, and another 13 million in the rest of the world.

THUNDER CONFIRM LAST EVER SHOW

OCEANSIZE added to BOHEMIA line up

* *

As well as securing UK debuts for some of the rock scene’s most exciting new acts, as well as a host of exclusive performances, SONISPHERE can confirm a special performance at the other end of the spectrum. Homegrown British hard rockers THUNDER will be taking the SONISPHERE stage at BOHEMIA for what they have confirmed will be their LAST EVER PERFORMANCE. It seems only fitting that they have selected a venue with one of the richest histories in rock for their last strike. Marking the end of a 20 year career, Luke Morley and co will be ending on a high, delighting the rockers of Knebworth with classics such as “Backstreet Symphony”, “Love Walked In” and “Gimme Some Lovin”.

Vocalist Danny Bowes states:

“Our final 6 months have been incredible, with sell out shows and brilliant festival appearances all over. It’s somehow quite fitting that we’ll play our last show in the UK, and having gone there as kids to see the Stones and Led Zeppelin, to do it at Knebworth will be a real thrill. Bring it on….”

Also on BOHEMIA, Mancunian art-rockers OCEANSIZE will be ploughing their wares. Diverse and rich in sound and atmosphere, this five piece have been labelled prog-rock, indie-rock, heavy metal and space rock - all are fitting but none are sufficient, and their set in BOHEMIA’S more intimate surroundings promises to be a memorable one. The band checked in to tell us: “Cant wait to play Knebworth, we are planning on digging out all the riffy numbers to ensure we don't get showered in piss. We are gonna make a full weekend of it, bringing down a caravan and 100 million cans of lager plus we effectively get paid to see Rolo Tomassi, NIN, Mastodon and Fucked Up.”

“See you down the front, lets hope it's sunny!!”

The leading international digital distribution company, Believe Digital, will be launching the service, entitled Zimbalam, on Monday July 6th. The new service is designed for artists and small labels looking to self-release their music to a wide audience, without the need for a record label or having to sign a prohibitive contract.

The digital music marketplace is set up in such a way that it is very difficult for individual artists to sell their music through any of the major online retailers, let alone a global network, and considering that the vast majority of artists are unsigned, this poses a problem for many talented artists trying to break into the music industry.

Denis Ladegaillerie, President and founder of Believe Digital explains:

“Artists are at the very heart of Believe Digital and everything we do. In 2008, we received more than 50,000 distribution requests from unsigned artists and were forced to turn down many promising artists. Unsatisfied with this, we built Zimbalam as a direct answer to the needs expressed by these artists to sell and promote their music whilst retaining complete control of their own release.”

Zimbalam gives the power back to the artists, giving them the freedom to control their own releases and to sell their music across 15 of the biggest digital retailers and mobile stores worldwide, including iTunes, Napster, Amazon, 3, Vodafone and Orange.

For a one off fee of just £19.99 for a single, or £29.99 for an EP or album, artists can sell their music through all the major digital retailers and earn 90% of the revenues generated through the sale of their music. The service is completely non-exclusive and artists retain all the rights to their music. Unlike competing services, Zimbalam even allows the artist to select which territories and stores they want their music to be available in, meaning the service can still be used in the instance that an artist doesn’t own some of the rights to their music. Ladegaillerie explains:

“Zimbalam has the widest network of any similar service currently operating, we give our artists more choice in what countries they sell their music, the fee for our service is the lowest in the marketplace and we don’t take any more money for hosting, subscriptions, ISRC or UPC creations or data storage, regardless of how many of our services you choose to take advantage of.”

Uniquely, Zimbalam offers the artist a range of free promotion and marketing tools to help sell their music, including a fully customisable player which can contain links to buy the music from all major retailers, preview songs, collect email addresses and send news to their fans. All the tools can be accessed using the simple and secure login area, where artists can also generate royalty reports and control the details of their release.

Ladegaillerie continues:

“It is important for artists to know when and where they are selling the most music and we give them access to daily sales reporting for free and our player tools have been hugely successful for Believe Digital artists, with several million player views and streams daily and exceptional purchases rate on click-throughs. This is a fantastic resource for an unsigned act to get for free promotion widgets that would cost them around €500 to build elsewhere.”

Launched on the 21st of June in France, in line with the 27th anniversary of the world-famous Fete de la Musique festival where artists are encouraged to take to the streets and perform for the public, Zimbalam already has close to 2000 artists signed up to release their music in the first fortnight alone.

With independent music currently more popular than ever, Zimbalam will lead the way towards all artists being represented equally and fairly online.

Artists can sign up for a free account at www.zimbalam.com

06/07/2009 FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND release 'YOUR HISTORY IS MINE: 2002-2009' on 28 September 2009. UK HEADLINE TOUR to co-incide.

Another chapter opens in the career of one of Britain's best-loved and most enduring rock bands of recent memory when FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND release 'Your History Is Mine: 2002-2009' in September 2009. The album is a career retrospective from the early days of the bands formation in South Wales right through to gold albums and multiple worldwide headline tours and appearances at every festival that matters.

The release will include an EP's worth of new material, notable for being the first involving Gavin Burrough fully in the writing and recording process. 'It's made a huge difference having [Gav] come into the band as a fan, and almost like a spokesman for all the fans out there who've been wanting to hear elements of the band they fell in love with that maybe have been missing for a while,' says drummer/vocalist Ryan Richards. 'We've always said we never wanted to go backwards, but now we've been able to re-explore a lot of the old elements of what we did and make it sound brand new by having Gav's musical and vocal input in there. It's very exciting - for us and for the fans, especially the ones that have been there from the start.'

'It's been hard,' adds vocalist Matthew Davies, 'whittling down the best of four albums and a bunch of EP's to come up with what we consider to be the best of our 'formative years'. We're still trying to rewrite the rock and roll music text book with everything we've done since then. It's been interesting to see just how many songs we've written that have affected both us and our audience over the last 7 and a half years and having them all in one place will be a good reflection of our music up to this point for newcomers and for old friends.'

A quick scan through the tracklisting for the record confirms that picking songs for inclusion has been no easy task. But more so it also reaffirms the weighty contribution the band has made to the post millennial British rock scene. Classic fan favourite tracks like '10.45 Amsterdam Conversations' and 'Red Is The New Black' sit comfortably both alongside the anthemic 'Juneau' and the awe-inspiring 'Roses For The Dead' as well as firm live favourites 'Streetcar' and 'Into Oblivion'. It really is a 'Greatest Hits' in the true sense of the word.

'I like to think of the record as the end of one road and the start of another,' continues Richards. 'We wanted to document the history of the band up until now but at the same time usher in a New Age of Aural Awesomeness - or NAAA to the abbreviators out there who've come to know and love us as the FFAF.'

The album will be available in the following formats:
Single CD: 16 tracks including 4 new brand new & exclusive recordings
Double CD set: adds a 2nd CD comprising a complete document of the bands b side recordings
Digital Download: adds a further selection of unreleased live and demos spanning the band's career

Over on the Sophie Lancaster stage, London grinders THE ROTTED will be shredding, blasting and growling their hearts out at their first ever Bloodstock appearance. ‘RETRIBUTION’ IS the fifth studio album from the Massachusetts outfit whose seamless blend of hard rock and heavy metal has led to the five building a genuinely international fanbase, picking up two Grammy Award nominations along the way.

Featuring 10 brand new songs, including lead track/video “Still I Rise”, the album was produced by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Municipal Waste), with Elvis Baskette (Incubus, Alter Bridge) coming on board to oversee the vocal side of things.

The follow-up to ‘Threads Of Life’ (2007), ‘Retribution’ sees the New England melodic thrashers pushing themselves harder than ever before in terms of both song-writing and performance. Says vocalist Brian Fair…

“With each album, we’ve got more and more confident in terms of letting all of our influences show, and this time around, we’ve taken the songs and pushed them just as far as we can – the brutal parts are a complete, non-stop assault, and the rock-influenced numbers don’t hold back either. Once the floodgates are open, we go for it!

Keen to take as much control over their career as possible, ‘Retribution’ – which will be available on both standard and special formats – is the first SF album to appear on the band’s own Everblack Industries label, with Spinefarm handling the release for the world ex-North America, where Ferret Music and the Independent Label Group are involved.

The full track-listing is as follows:-

1.      The Path to Imminent Ruin
2.      My Demise
3.      Still I Rise
4.      War
5.      King Of Nothing
6.      The Taste Of Fear
7.      Embrace Annihilation
8.      Picture Perfect
9.      A Public Execution
10.    Dead And Gone

Shadows Fall will be touring the UK in the Autumn.

A LIMITED EDITION VINYL AVAILABLE

THE BLACK CROWES will release their new studio CD, Before the Frost... on 31st August 2009.

Before the Frost..., and its corresponding free album …Until The Freeze, were recorded over a series of five nights at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY.  Although both are studio albums, all the new material was performed and recorded in front of an intimate audience of the band’s fans, making them a part of The Black Crowes musical history.

The innovative technique of inviting fans into the studio to become part of the process during recording is a rare experience.

Before the Frost... features eleven new and previously unreleased Black Crowes songs including Good Morning Captain, I Ain’t Hiding, Been a Long Time (Waiting on Love), and other original songs that will serve to spotlight the bands ability to make emotional connections through their music.  The free album …Until The Freeze is a nine-song collection featuring eight new original Black Crowes songs plus a cover version of the Stephen Stills classic So Many Times

Probably the most misunderstood label you can slap on a rock band today is to call them progressive rock. So many people have such different opinions of what the description means that almost nobody thinks of the same thing when they hear it! But Days Before Tomorrow certainly fit their own description of this label. When Days Before Tomorrow think of progressive rock, they picture bands like Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, and Marillion. But when you ask someone over 30 what prog rock means to them, you'll routinely hear them mention bands like Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Jefferson Starship, Kansas, and Styx. Somewhere in the midst of all that debate is where you'll find Days Before Tomorrow - a nod to the past with a sound for tomorrow.

At a minimum, great prog rock features outstanding musicianship that inspires other musicians, has a strong vocal identity, big hooks, and has songs that take the listener on a journey from the beginning of the first track all the way through to the end of the album. Themes are often present throughout an album, and many songs stretch well beyond typical three-minute fare. After all, even the finest works of classic literature weren't short stories - they were novels. At its best, great progressive rock incorporates
the elements above and presents them in a way that is accessible to the mainstream rock fan.

Days Before Tomorrow delivers on all fronts: music that appeals to serious music lovers tired of the same old boring radio fare, and music with catchy melodies and strong hooks that casual listeners and rock lovers alike can latch onto.

HISTORY
Many bands are founded by longtime friends, and it was back in the elementary school years when guitarist Scott Kahn and vocalist Eric Klein became friends at day camp (we have the photos to prove it). Truth be told, they didn't even remember this fact until many years later, meeting for the second time thanks to a Craigslist posting from which Eric emailed a one-line reply that simply asked, "Does that guy Scott have a sister named Audra?" Had Scott's sister actually mentioned that her life-long friend was a great singer, Days Before Tomorrow might have gotten off to a start at least a decade earlier, but then they might have turned out more like a new wave band rather than prog rock titans. Good thing they re-met in the '00s. Together, working tirelessly from a basement studio in Wayne, New Jersey, they moved forward producing and commercially releasing their debut, self-titled EP in 2006. Amidst favorable reviews, the first track, "Can't Do Anything," a political statement disguised as a jaded love song, received an honorable mention in Billboard Magazine's 14th Annual Songwriting Contest. Then, in August 2008, a demo recording of the song "Sleepwalking" received an honorable mention in Billboard Magazine's 15th Annual Songwriting Competition. But the band
lineup, and sound, was still evolving.

The band took its next leap forward with the addition of guitarist Derek Davodowich, a Berklee grad and veteran of the Nashville scene, in 2007, and Robert "Zeek" Maziekien Jr. (of the prog rock band Eternity X) stepped in on bass. The band continued to refine its sound, getting heavier and more musically adventurous.

After a year's worth of auditioning, Days Before Tomorrow finally solidified its lineup with renowned pro drummer Jason Gianni joining the band. Besides teaching prog rock drumming for NYC's famous Drummer's Collective school, Jason's impeccable chops can be heard on everything from Spongebob Squarepants to Hannah Montana to recordings with another well known prog
band, Magellan. And in the summer of 2009, the band found keyboard player Damon Fibraio performing with a Dream Theater & Queensryche tribute band. He connected with the band instantly, and work has already begun writing the band's next record.

THE SKY IS FALLING
The Sky Is Falling was produced by legendary rock producer Ron Nevison (Led Zeppelin, The Who, Heart, Jefferson Starship, Europe, Kiss, Damn Yankees, and more), and was released independently in March 2009 while the band talks with record labels about a pending distribution deal. The Sky Is Falling was mixed by Grammy award winning engineer Earl Cohen (Christina Aguilera, Usher, Will Smith, Tina Turner), who first began working with Days Before Tomorrow in 2008 while they were recording a single for the compilation CD, Hair Apparent: The Main Man Records Tribute to Hair Bands. Sonically, The Sky Is Falling is one of the finest sounding records you'll hear in 2009.

There is no shortage of industry excitement about Days Before Tomorrow. Regarding the single recorded for Hair Apparent, project co-producer Kim Mulligan (of NJ's WDHA FM and Sirius XM Hair Nation) wrote, "Just wanted to thank you for this track. It's spectacular and exactly what the compilation needed. Thanks for hitting one out of the park!"

This fall, Days Before Tomorrow will be performing at the Los Angeles Music Awards, where the band has been nominated for Record of the Year. According to the show's executive producer and founder, Al Bowman, "Days Before Tomorrow represents the most cutting edge and unique style I have ever heard from an independent band. In nearly two decades of producing award shows, I have never received an album like what they put together. Magnificent work!"

A few words on our behalf…

“Days Before Tomorrow represents the most cutting edge and unique style I have ever heard from an independent band. In nearly two decades of producing award shows, I have never received an album like what they put together. Magnificent work!” -
Al Bowman Founder / Executive Producer, Los Angeles Music Awards

“Days Before Tomorrow shoot the gambit of directional turns… I listen to tons of music but DBT take music to another level… The opening track “Lighters” is an amazing song… I can’t say enough about DBT being innovators of experimental changes… The Sky Is Falling is not your typical CD; it’s a journey through time as with a Pink Floyd release. You really have to sit back and enjoy the ride of your life… This is a great release to escape in your own little world and dream, but watch out for the quick turns as these class musicians take it one-step further.” - 4 Stars (out of 5), Review from RockEyez.com

“Days Before Tomorrow are musical clinicians; they play a melodic and intricate form of progressive music that is radio-friendly, especially because of lead singer Eric Klein’s warm, clear and soaring style… [The chorus of “Lighters”] is one of the best choruses you’ll ever hear… “Wrong” probably owns the next best chorus you’ll hear this year… this should be a hit for Days Before Tomorrow… a band who is artful both musically and conceptually…” - 8.1 (out of 10) Review from HardRockHaven.com

“What immediately stood out for me were the incredible hooks found throughout the disc... There are no weak tracks... One of the most refreshing releases I have heard... Will more than likely make my best of list when the end of the year comes around…”
- 4.5 Stars (out of 5) Review from SeaOfTranquility.org

"The emotional highs are undeniable." - Music Connection Magazine

“… an extremely well crafted musical statement that defies any attempt to apply a genre-specific label, and this is the best compliment that can be given – they don’t sound like anybody else… Eric’s pipes defy any attempt to compare him to other singers stylistically… One thing that really separates these guys from other prog bands are the big hooks and choruses, guaranteed to stick in your head. Case in point: the opening track ‘Lighters’ has one of the most addicting choruses I have ever heard!” - 4 Stars (out of 4), Review from MusicPlayers.com

“The musicianship was stellar.” - The Aquarian

“… an excellent record that combines classic Progressive Rock with beautiful AOR melodies… superb vocal work of Eric Klein… This guy easily beats anyone else in the music business today, what an amazing range, perfectly clean melodic singing you don’t hear that much these days… The production from Ron Revison is superb, as huge as the major label classics he did in the past… very radio friendly… quite innovative in the arrangements… this CD almost blows away any major label release… a really special release that truly deserves attention from every well-respected music fan out there.” - 9.2 Points (out of 10) Review from strutter.8m.com (Strutter Magazine, Holland)

“With an ear for detail and a cosmic sense of composition, Days Before Tomorrow have unleashed a bombardment of sonic pleasure. An acoustic launch with electric soaring solos masterfully transports you into their world… Eric Klein's vocals are clean as a whistle, reminding me of a "too good to be true" concoction of Steve Walsh & Dennis DeYoung. Scott Kahn and Derek Davodowich's guitar work is impeccable. Bassist Robert Maziekien and drummer Jason Gianni are locked in like a peak performing machine… The production is top notch. With Ron Nevison at the helm, it was destined to become a work of art.” - 4 Stars (out of 5) Review from TheProgFiles.com

DAME FORTUNE take their brand of "Classic hard rock with a modern Gothic edge" to a new level with "The Secret
Art."  If Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Frank Miller were the lyricists for Kiss, Motley Crue and Guns N' Roses, you'd
have Dame Fortune. Both sinister and romantic, DAME FORTUNE uses classic hard rock with occasional Gothic
overtones to deliver their clever and biting lyrics. January 31st 2009 LA cult rockers DAME FORTUNE will release their
third CD, THE SECRET ART and film their first live DVD at Club Vodka at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood as they
continue to build their fan base that already includes more than 5000 fans on myspace through a series of blistering
live shows.  THE SECRET ART finds the Hollywood based hard rock band further expanding their sound and lyrical
themes. Standout tracks include the impossibly catchy "Perpetual Emotion Machine," (Co-written with Richard Davis,
Eagles co-producer & member of the Eagles' touring band), the sleazy metal swagger of "In Like Flynn," and the arena
rock anthem, "Hikikomori (Live As Though The Day Were Here),"encouraging disenfranchised Japanese youth to stand
up against their society's strict code of conformity.

If you thought that the poets of the grunge era merely muddied their waters that they appear to be deep, if you find
the pho-rage of numetal and rap rock leaving you cold, if you loved the best of the darker side of the 80's hard rock
like Motley Crue, Guns 'n Roses, and legends like Kiss, Aerosmith, Queen, and Zep, still send a shiver up your spine, if
you like big hooks, slamming power chords, catchy melodies, sing along anthems, with lyrics full of sneering rock and
roll attitude and great storytelling, then DAME FORTUNE is your band. As songwriters they have the musical muscle and
lyrical depth to create a new legion of Generation X and Y true believers who can proudly call themselves Rock and
Rollers. 2002's debut EP THE GREAT COSMIC SCEHME earned them the Rock City News Award for Best Alternative
Band. 2004's BOTHS SIDES OF MIDNIGHT, featuring KISS ghost drummer Kevin Valentine on 5 tracks secured them a
distribution deal with Nightmare Distribution and Perris records and was given 3 and 1/2 stars by Japan's Burrn!
Magazine. In 2005 DAME FORTUNE debuted a half dozen new songs at shows both in Hollywood and areas surrounding
Los Angeles, each followed by one of their infamous all night after parties, and filmed their first video for "The Loony
Bin." In 2006 DAME FORTUNE 's full-length documentary "The Making of Both Sides of Midnight" screened on the
historic 20th Century Fox Lot, and they started recording for their most ambitious effort yet, THE SECRET ART. On
January 31st, 2009, after 4 years of blood, sweat and tears, the secret will be revealed...

CHART-TOPPING SWEDISH ROCKERS RELEASE DEBUT SELF-TITLED ALBUM ON AUGUST 3rd 2009 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS UK …

DEAD BY APRIL, the modern metallers from Gothenburg in Sweden, will issue their debut self-titled album through Spinefarm Records UK on August 3rd.

Produced by Henrik Edenhead and featuring 13 tracks, including Myspace fave “Angels Of Clarity” and lead single “Losing You” (a No. 1 record in Sweden), the album is an innovative, finely-crafted blend of memorable pop melody and raging hard rock power – the whole package proving sufficiently seductive to achieve a No. 2 position in the Swedish charts.

Says guitarist/vocalist/prime songwriter Pontus Hjelm about the music:-

“It’s the most brutal parts from the metal scene mixed with the poppiest parts from the pop scene, touching on all points inbetween, with a lot of attention given to the lyrics…”

In support of the album, DBA – who have already played a UK headline date at the Barfly club in London – will be returning here on July 31st to feature on a Kerrang! Awards show at the London HMV Forum that also includes Lacuna Coil and Dirty Little Rabbits; then, a couple of days later, DBA will be appearing at the inaugural Sonisphere Festival, set to take place on August 1st & 2nd at Knebworth in Hertfordshire; the Swedes have been confirmed for the newly-announced Bohemia stage, with performance times to be revealed shortly.

DBA will be back in the UK for further dates in the Autumn, backed up by the release of ‘Angels Of Clarity’ as a second single.

Fife based metallers Here Lies A Warning release the 'Keep Your Head Under The Water' EP on Titan Records on Sept 7 2009.

Embracing a musical intensity that is as heavy as it is potent, the quintet employ brutality and beauty in equal measure.

>From the machine gun, gut punch rhythm of 'Destroy Something Beautiful' to the ethereal melancholy of 'Ashore', they draw from a varied musical pool. Indeed, although supremely comfortable with a dark, layered gentleness (witness the early verses of 'How Lonely The Prince Without His Kingdom'), they are not afraid to cut loose with a serious metal attack ('Submerge' anyone?).

With a shared love of all kinds of music ('We all listen to a vast span of genre's', says guitarist Kalin Smith. 'Anything from death metal to country!), you can see parallels with other equally experimental acts like Parkway Drive, Emmure and Bury Your Dead.

'Keep Your Head Under The Water, their debut EP, was recorded with Nick Scholey at NS Productions (Johnny Truant, Flood Of Red, Azriel), and dishes up five slabs of stunning noise.

Having toured relentlessly since their inception in 2006, the band have seen live action with acts such as Enter Shikari, We Are The Ocean, Flood Of Red, Failsafe, Mendeed, The Hurt Process, Shaped By Fate, Brutality will Prevail, Deaf Havana, Azriel.

This constant live work has honed their sound into a brutal and precise assault. With a determined attitude, an impressive work ethic and a powerful sound, Here Lies A Warning are ready to be your new favourite band!

JULIETTE LEWIS  - to play a  show in a library as well as  more UK Dates……After five years, two full length albums and countless high profile tours and festival gigs, including The Leeds Festival, Reading and Lollapalooza with her band The Licks, Juliette Lewis is set to play a full headline tour in the UK in October.   With an exciting new sound and a significantly diverse collection of songs, she decided to form a different band to capture her whole new groove and launch this next musical project.    "My next album will be so sonically different than anything I've done before and captures many flavors of my emotional life and voice.  Do I have fear? Of course but it is exactly what gets me going. Because I L O V E what I'm doing” says Lewis.

After launching the new band at SXSW this year, Juliette has already played a round of European festivals and a couple of shows in the UK.    She arrives back in the UK for two shows in July , one of which will be in a library in Morecambe, Lancashire as part of the Get It Loud in Libraries campaign.  More info here: www.myspace.com/getitloudinlibraries

Lewis then heads back out to Europe for a few more festivals before going back  to  the U.S  to go on the Pretenders tour along with Cat Power.

Her next tour of the UK will be in October, at the following venues:

OCTOBER:

Thur 22nd               Manchester Academy 2

Friday 23rd            London Shepherds Bush Empire

Tickets are £12 .50 except for London/£14 and Bristol/£15

Juliette will be releasing her next album “Terra Incognita” in the autumn.  Instrumental in creating the sound for this new record is the album’s producer Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, leader of Mars Volta and together they have translated her ideas into an emotionally guttural and ultimately melodic and unpredictable, new sound. There is a deep undercurrent on the entire record of contrasting themes; romance and tragedy, dreams and disillusionment. "Everything she's feeling, it's just right there for you," said Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of the recording. "It's just honest. It's her. All the music encapsulates her and it's driven by her, and it's made for her." The record was mixed by the legendary Rich Cosey (NIN, Muse, Foo Fighters).

Juliette Lewis s will be announcing additional album details and tour news in the coming weeks. For more information please go to:  www.myspace.com/juliettelewis
