PRESS RELEASES - August 2007
24/08/2007 **********************************************************************************
Germany and Poland Refuse to Stock New This Is Menace Record !!!
**********************************************************************************

The supergroup made up of members from no less than 19 bands -

- including: Killing Joke, Funeral For a Friend, Hundred Reasons, Sikth,
Pitchshifter, Earthtone 9, Carcass, Napalm Death, Send More Paramedics,
Therapy, Hiding Place, Amen, Murder One, Charger, The Ghost Of A Thousand,
Fightstar and New Model Army -

- have landed in hot water over the controversial cover for their new
album 'The Scene Is Dead' set for release through Fourth Wall Records on
24 Sept 2007.

The cover featured a defaced recreation of the Last Supper of Christ with
the disciples heads changed for iconic faces of good and evil, including
Adolf Hitler, Elvis Presley, The Pope, Princess Diana, Stalin and Bill
Gates, with Christ's head being replaced by the two-headed calf from the
band's first album sleeve (No End In Sight).

German and Polish distributors have refused to stock the record describing
the cover as "Offensive and blasphemous". The band has been forced to
redesign the artwork using the vocalists' heads instead of the icons.

This is Menace architects M D Clayden and Jason Bowld were not available
to comment on the incident.

The album's impressive track listing includes...
01, "PRETTY GIRLS" featuring Jeff Walker of CARCASS.

U2
POPMART LIVE FROM MEXICO CITY DVD RELEASE

U2’s PopMart Live from Mexico City will be released on DVD on 10th September 2007.

Filmed at the Foro Sol Autodromo in Mexico City on 3rd December 1997, PopMart Live from Mexico City was directed by David Mallet and first released on video the following year; this is the first time it has been released on DVD.

Described as a sci-fi disco supermarket, the PopMart Tour opened in its “spiritual home”, Las Vegas on 25th April 1997. All trash and kitsch, PopMart introduced a giant mirrorball lemon, a 100ft cocktail stick - complete with olive, and the works of Lichtenstein, Warhol and Haring, to a live rock audience: a production experience never quite seen before.

Originally filmed on analogue video, the film has been transferred to a digital format with re-graded and cleaned pictures. Great care has been taken to maintain the original look by simply enhancing it, with an added degree of sharpness and contrast unavailable when originally filmed. The audio has also been re-mastered and mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound.

PopMart Live from Mexico City will be available in two formats: a Standard 1-disc format containing the concert, and a Special Limited Edition 2-disc format, the 2nd bonus disc containing previously unreleased live audio and video material, including documentaries, a PopMart tour visuals montage, and DVD-ROM extras.

ALI LOVE

RETURNS FOR A LATE NIGHT SESSION on 8th OCT

Ali Love is set go from east London’s best kept secret to bonafide pop star with the release of his new single.

The Londoner is about to go supernova with the release of ‘Late Night Session’ on 8th October on Columbia Records. The single will be available to download from 1st October.

‘Late Night Session’ is an irresistible slice of disco, funk and pop with Ali Love inviting the world back to his flat for an after hours session of dancing and romancing amongst the neon lights and street fights. It’s four minutes of feel good fun that could even get those with two left feet running to the dancefloor. “The song was written when I used to run a night in the basement of a club called On the Rocks,” says Ali. “I lived above the club so my bedroom ended up being the VIP room, they were crazy, crazy times.”

‘Late Night Session’ has been remixed by Supafly and producer du jour, Paul Epworth. The single also has bonus tracks including ‘F-Beat’ a dirty electro jam which has a chorus borrowing from Pussycat Doll’s ‘Don’t Cha’.

Ali Love will be gigging across the UK this autumn, performing tracks from his forthcoming album ‘Love Music’. The album is due for release in January and will include his previous single ‘Secret Sunday Lover’ as well as the new track. Ali has been confirmed as the support act for both the Just Jack and Mark Ronson tours this October. He will also be playing various club dates from September - this includes a residency at Yo Yo, Notting Hill Arts Club. Expect some exhilarating shows from the man who has the swagger of a rock god from the 60s, dance moves that would have caused admiring glances at Studio 54 and the voice of a uniquely noughties pop icon in the making.

MILBURN

Brand new single and album

SINGLE
‘What Will You Do (When The Money Goes)?’
17th September 2007

ALBUM
‘THESE ARE THE FACTS’
1st October 2007

PLUS HEADLINE TOUR CONFIRMED

Milburn are back and set to embark on a string of headline tour dates in advance of their new single and album, due out on Mercury Records on September 17th and October 1st respectively. The extensive UK tour sees them headline the Astoria in London on September 27th.

As terrifyingly young as they are talented, the Sheffield four piece are ready for round two. In the time it takes Coldplay to choose a producer they have a follow-up to 2006’s ‘Well Well Well’ ready to go.

The new album, ‘These Are The Facts’, takes things up a gear. It features new songs that add breadth to Milburn’s depth, taking in a host of fresh sounds and widescreen production techniques. It is full of spiky guitars, heaps of melody, and a respectful nod to all things 60’s. The keen of ear will be able to pick out a nod to The Animals here and a Johnny Cash vibe there.

The first single from the album entitled, ‘What Will You Do (When The Money Goes)?’, is an explosive statement of intent, a real anthem in the waiting.

Milburn will be playing the following shows in the UK
13th September - Central Station Wrexham, Wales
14th Sep - Charlotte Leicester
15th Sep - Soundhaus Northampton
16th Sep - Carling Academy Bristol

13/08/2007 Malakai: ‘Malakai EP 1’
September 3rd on Island Records

Bristol duo Malakai follow up their limited edition Invada single ‘Fading World’ with the ‘Malakai EP 1’ on September 3rd through Island Records.

Malakai are Scott & G, a studio based act using samples & live instrumentation. Their own ideas fused with an enormous range of influences to create music that’s diverse and compelling. Over the EP you’ll hear hints of Public Image Ltd/ Tricky/Death In Vegas/Rammellzee/Morricone/Ninja Tunes/UNKLE/Demon Boys/Portishead/the Beatles/Bushkiller/Grandwizard Theodore & The Fantastic Five/Radiohead/On U Sound/ Funkadelic/Boards Of Canada/Studio 1/David Axelrod/Lee Perry/Aphrodite’s Child/13th Floor Elevators & Kool Keith. A cosmic soup of sounds and flavours that’s already whetting the appetites of Zane Lowe & Gilles Peterson.

The EP’s opening track sets the tone nicely. ‘The Battle’ is an orgy of hellfire. Snarling vocals set against a galloping Spaghetti Western style guitar riff with some tough old school drum breaks crashing against a wall of psych guitars and handclaps. ‘Moonsurfing’ is a flamenco guitar driven treat, ‘Fading World’ is the full album version newly recorded with extra strings & tings, and ‘Words Like Humble’ an authentic piece of studio one inspired reggae and not a whiff of cod in sight.

Malakai also embody a very English eccentric style that’s a nod towards the Small Face’s classic Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake, Peep Show, the Mighty Boosh & Monty Python. The skits in between the tracks are part of their make-up, they like things a little off-kilter. Keeping it all together is producer Segs (from punk legends the Ruts) and Steve Dub, both of whom recently added their studio skills as producers to the Sunshine Underground.

ASH

New single 'End Of The World' released September 10th

You may have been led to believe that it is indeed the end of Ash...it's not!

The band follow their headline appearance at this Reading / Leeds festival - Radio 1 / NME stage - with the release of 'End Of The World' on September 10th. The track, the third from their recent ‘Twilight Of The Innocents’ album is another aural salvo from the mighty armoury penned by Tim Wheeler and already proven a favourite on the band's recent sold out four night residency at London's Koko.

The beguiling vocals underpinned with the snap, crackle and pop of a rhythm cascading outta of the speakers including some guest beat box improv suggests that Ash still have the knack of hitting all the right notes. Stay tuned...

Meanwhile the band play:

SCOUTING FOR GIRLS

Debut album – Scouting for Girls
out 17th September 2007 on Epic Records

Scouting For Girls release their debut album, ‘Scouting For Girls’, through Epic Records on 17th September 2007. It is preceded by a single, She’s So Lovely, on 3rd September.

London indie pop trio Scouting For Girls are a band that offer a unique take on life. Their warmth, wit and healthy dose of bittersweet nostalgia, make an individual stand for the young at heart. Using unforgettable melodies and weaving lyricism, they chronicle lost youth and broken hearts. Not since Supergrass has a band managed to make such joyous, moving and vivid music with the onus on the fun and pitfalls of everyday life.

"What’s the use of the money, when we ain't got no time?" - ‘Keep On Walking’

The band have already been experiencing a whirlwind 2007. Signing to Epic Records on Valentines’ Day following a band rehearsal in their decaying Acton studio, the band were packed off to Helioscentric Studios in Rye within a week, and have since found their music filling the country’s airwaves with the debut release of their limited edition EP, 'Its Not About You' from 1st June.

Their formation, akin to their music, is both charming and endearingly simple. School friends Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Pete Ellard grew up in and around Harrow together. Pete was Roy’s ‘sixer’ at Cub Scouts, and Roy met bassist Greg in the playground at junior school. Ever since those school years, when Roy hung back after the school gates were locked to mess around on the music teacher’s drum kit, and then persuaded Greg to get an acoustic guitar aged 14, the trio have been indebted to writing songs together.

The band began their now infamous fan club the ‘Wolf Cub Club’ (currently bulging at the seams with Wolf Cubs across the world) at the beginning of their formation in 1996. New members receive a membership card (allowing reduced entry tickets to gigs), a Scouting For Girls Handbook (with song lyrics, membership rules and a flow of useful ‘life’ information), and a secret code to be used in sending coded messages to other members.

Their first national tour in May/June has found ‘Wolf Cubs’ touring the length and breadth of the country in adoration and loyalty to their new heroes, and those numbers are growing with every touring week, screaming back the lyrics to each spellbinding tune.

‘Scouting For Girls’ is an album that boasts an unparalleled clutch of 12 uplifting and affecting indie pop songs, all sprinkled with the same magic dust that has arrested their rapidly growing fanbase the country over.

Scouting For Girls look destined to become one of the nation’s most cherished bands.

FICTION PLANE RELEASE NEW ALBUM & SUPPORT THE POLICE ON THEIR WORLD TOUR !
*******************************************************************************************************************

British rockers FICTION PLANE release their new album 'Left Side Of The
Brain' on Bieler Bros Records on August 20. It's a potent mix of jagged
melody and infectious grooves.

The band are also supporting The Police on their world tour, including the
much anticipated UK dates throughout Sept and October 2007.

The guys have made numerous TV appearances throughout the tour in the
States. Check them out on MTV Canada last week www.mtv.ca/?vid=164491 and
on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno
http://bielerbros.com/media/fiction_plane/videos/fp_leno.mov

The album was produced by Paul Corkett (Radiohead, Björk, The Cure) and is
the formal debut of the band as a three piece - Joe Sumner on bass and
vocals, Seton Daunt on guitar and Pete Wilhoit on drums - with the
departure of keyboardist/bassist Dan Brown to raise a family.

"In a way, this album is about us letting it all hang out," says Daunt.
"It's a bit more bold and obnoxious, guitar wise. It's louder and
prouder." "It's sort of a coming out party for us," says Wilhoit. "We sort
of unleashed the animal within."

Sumner talks about the meaning behind track "Death Machine" - war: "I
really understand the desire to protect your country, and the desire to
fight for what you believe in, but the people who are telling you what you
should do in order to do it, I just don't trust."

Nepotism, meanwhile, is at the heart of "Running the Country": "It
discusses how unqualified and possibly unsuitable people can be, who find
themselves in positions of power because of who they are." says Sumner.
It's a track that surely has relevance to the precarious position he finds
himself in being the son of one of rock's biggest superstars: Sting. That
lineage is one that Sumner has grappled with all his life, trying to
establish himself as both his own man and his own musician.

"I spent many years lying about it, and avoiding it," he says. "Even if I
took a job in a pub in the middle of nowhere, someone would figure it
out." His desire to step out from that shadow loomed large in the band's
decision whether or not to take the offered opener's slot on this summer's
massive Police reunion tour. To be blunt, in the end, Sumner just said
f**k it: "I just figured if it's gonna happen anyway, I might as well take
full advantage. I think we're ready, we've got a great band and great
songs."
