GuilFest 2006. A whole weekend of music and fun for all. 14th-16th July

“Its coming home, its coming home, GuilFest’s coming home”.

GuilFest kicks off and scores with the Lightning Seeds, Embrace, A-Ha, Billy Idol, Sandi Thom, Nizlopi, Kosheen, plus special guest Donovan; just to mention a few of the amazing bands we have on our BBC Radio 2 Mainstage! With six music stages, GuilFest plays host to a mass of skill and talent including the cream of the local up-and-coming bands and artists on the Surrey Advertiser and Andertons Live Club Stages.

The bands are not all that GuilFest has to offer. There is the FunkyEnd Dance Tent where you can check out the seriously cool DJ Snowboy, the hip and ‘havin it’ DJ Phil Hartnoll, and the amazing one and only Norman Jay DJ extraordinaire and other well known DJ’s. The FunkyEnd also provides a home to a diverse selection of cutting edge dance music from up and coming DJ’s.

GuilFest 2006 is to feature a Silent Disco’ for the first time. A Silent Disco'! Just trust us, you’ll love it! Our Silent Disco will make enough noise to wake the dead but not the neighbours! Other late night activities include the Jelly Tree video Lounge where you can chill-out and watch an eclectic selection of video art, short films and animation, and a late night sing along to all your favourite songs in the all new ACM Acoustic Lounge.

GuilFest is delighted that the Academy of Contemporary Music is to continue its commitment to young musicians and is to host the all new Acoustic Lounge where up and coming singer songwriters can get up and dazzle audiences with their compositions.

Wondering what GuilFest has laid on for the kids' The fantastic KidZone returns to bring mayhem and excitement to your child’s weekend. The Kids area will be packed full of games, stilt walking, balloon modelling, face painting and drawing to stimulate their creative energies. Furthermore, Derek the Dalek will also be at the festival again, make sure to bring your cameras! On the Sunday it’s over to the children for the annual Kids Parade, where the children get to show the rest of the festival what they have made over their weekend.

Families can also take their kids to the Man in the Moon Theatre Tent where the youngsters can join drama workshops and put on a production for their parents; sit back, enjoy being entertained and watch them perform. After dark the theatre tent will transform itself into its alter ego and perform shows for the older audience such as Frottage 11 and Saucy Jack’s.

Ever fancied a light sabre battle with Darth Vader? Then visit our all new Digital Fun Fair or play the very latest games in the Nintendo Marquee!

When you get tired of all the activities and need to recharge your batteries then grab a space and be entertained, laughing until your sides split in the Hush Puppies Comedy Lounge. This year sees James Dowdeswell, Tom Stade and BBC Radio 4’s Milton Jones grace us with their humour and wit.
GuilFest's family friendly attitude is reflected in the cleanliness of all the toilet and baby changing facilities (a rarity at festivals!), the easy access parking and the reassuring presence of both the local police and St Johns Ambulance. Furthermore, visitors with disabilities can expect to be provided with easy access into the festival; including raised viewing platforms, wheelchair access toilets and a dedicated camping area. More information can be found at www.guilfest.co.uk or by calling 01483 454 159.

There will be a plentiful supply of traders selling a mass of things from clothing, Knickknacks, bongos to henna tattoos. GuilFest has great stalls and some of our visitors even use the weekend to buy their Xmas shopping!

Of course GuilFest would not be complete without food and drink. The area will be filled with deliciously scrumptious food from light bites to any continental delicacy you can imagine. Even when it comes to beverages GuilFest not only has a wide variety on offer ranging from smoothies to the Pimm’s Bus bar, but there will also be a Calypso Cocktail Bar AND a 150ft bar sponsored by UNISON selling all types of drinks and Real Ale, all of which are licensed until 1am!

So raise your glasses and drink at toast to music, fun, and friendship at GuilFest 2006.

Hope to see you there.
