Danava – ‘Danava’ (Kemado Records) Release Date: May 14th 2007

Although Danava (pronounced DON-UH-VUH) play the type of ferociously intense, foundation-rattling, rock and roll that might righteously justify some good old fashioned head-banging, vocalist Dusty Sparkles wants you to know that he doesn’t consider his band a metal outfit.

Nor are they prog-rock, or part of whatever ridiculous, wonky sounding “movement” someone just came up with to try to lump a bunch of disparate bands together. Sparkles has as much use for genre tags as folks on the Titanic did for bottled water. He’s not interested in being part of a scene, and he’s entirely unconcerned about anyone’s reaction to or opinion of his band.

“We’re not trying to fit in anywhere specifically,” he drawls nonchalantly. “we aren’t going to do this unless we feel happy about it.”

Danava might create music for themselves, but they’ve connected with an audience hungry for something intelligent, interesting, complex – and heavy. A short three years after forming somewhat casually in Portland, the band is gearing up to release their self-titled debut on Kemado Records.

Whether the record’s release will catapult them to fame, fortune and headlining arena tours doesn’t seem to occupy much space in Danava’s collective psyche. The band is too busy focusing on the long-lost arts of musical composition and musicianship, as well as delivering the kind of visceral, epic live show that has already left a broad wake of over stimulated senses and blown minds.

“It’s best not to expect anything from us,” states Sparkles. “We don’t expect to make the same record twice, or do anything other than what we want to do. We’ll either get weirder – or not. We love so many styles of music it’s impossible to say where things will go from here. This record came out this way, but we might all sit down at the keyboards one day and do a record as a fucking synthesizer quartet.”

That’s the genius behind Danava – four musicians who strive to combine creativity and musical skills in unique and unpredictable ways. Maybe the only thing it’s safe to expect is that whatever comes next will be as much a surprise to the band as it will be to its fans.

FLOORS AND WALLS : Welcome To Chav-core !!
***********************************************************

'The Stand' Single released on May 21 & 'What Can We Do Today' Album on June 4 '07 !!

What happens when the world of hoodie-sporting chavdom crashes headfirst into big groove, visceral rock music like a joy ridden Honda Civic? Floors And Walls mate. That's what.

Looking as likely to mug you as play you a tune, this Brighton based quartet are forging a path into unique and idiosyncratic waters. Some have seen fit to dub it Chav-Core - but you need to hear this band to decide for yourself!

They release their second single, 'The Stand', on the 21st of May 2007 on South Coast Sounds. Available as CD and download, it will include a live version of 'Grimey' and a cover of the classic Beastie Boy's track 'Sabotage' (+ the Stand ringtone)! It will be followed on June 4 by the 'What Can We Do Today' album.

The band 's limited edition debut single 'Head Access', released in February, created a massive buzz locally and the band have built up a loyal following, selling out Brighton's Concorde 2 to over 700 fans!

Front man, MC and all-round lad Alex Adams comes from a drum n bass background, while the rest of the band were raised on the likes of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mars Volta, Muse and System Of A Down. The result has been described as "The Streets meets Rage Against The Machine". Or as one wag put it 'the resulting offspring of a sexual liaison between the Chili Peppers and Vikki Pollard!'.

There is a tangible excitement in the audience at Floors and Walls gigs, "I think the best music happens when you combine polar opposites", explains guitarist Dom McNulty, "We sound a bit like Arctic Monkey's on speed!"

Because of the band's unique fusion of sounds (a melting pot of rock, MCing and soulful hardhitting lyrics), Floors and Walls have the opportunity to cross over between the usually separate audiences for drum n bass and rock music. "I think everybody can take something from it because it's so diverse," says Ian. "We all bring our own influences to it and see what happens."

The band head out on the road in support of the up-coming releases. Catch them at one of the following shows:

March 22nd Old Ship, Brighton (Brighton Festival Launch)
March 24th Sugarlounge, Margate
April 17th Bristol Fleece & Firkin

May 3rd Dublin Castle, London

FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES ANNOUNCE UK TOUR IN SUPPORT OF NEW ALBUM !!
********************************************************************************************************

Long Island rockers FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES have just announced an eight-date tour of the UK in support of the release of their new album 'Holding A Wolf By The Ears' due out on April 9 through Vagrant Records,

"...this is the way our band was always supposed to sound, " comments Deneeve. "It's taken over 6 years and 4 records but this is the most significant thing we have ever done."

Produced by Brian Mcternan (Thrice, Senses Fail, Hot Water Music, Moneen) the music FROM AUTUMN TO ASHES created on Holding A Wolf By The Ears heralds a new beginning for the New York-based band. "I want to do everything I can to get people to realise that this is really like a new band," says Mark.

The most recognizable sign of this reinvention is Mark's recent shift from drummer to drummer and full-time vocalist, a result of the departure of former lead singer Benjamin Perri. But over the course of the album's 12 tracks, it becomes clear that for the band more has changed than just a voice.

Catch the guys at one of the following shows:

20-May Cardiff, Barfly
21-May Yeovil, Ski Lodge
22-May Brighton, Pressure Point
23-May Birmingham, Academy 2
25-May Manchester, Academy 3

Mark Ronson - ‘Stop Me’

New Single Released April 9th on Columbia Records

Album ‘Version’ Released April 16th

Producer supreme Mark Ronson marks his comeback with the stunning new album ‘Version’ on April 16th, with 12 classic tracks that he has re-created into visionary floor-fillers. The album’s first single, an immaculate spin on The Smith’s ‘Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One Before’ which blends in The Supreme’s ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’, hits the shops on April 9th and has been personally approved by Morrissey himself.

Featuring the vocals of Australia’s star-in-waiting Daniel Merriweather, who is signed to Mark’s Allido label, it’s a soulful tour de force that sets the tone for what’s to come on the new album.

It is also a chance for you to be re-introduced to the man who has been producing for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Ghostface and his Allido protégé Rhymefest in the last year.

Using his own unique re-interpretive style, Mark has set out to demonstrate pop voyeurism and experimentalism are not alien forms. Here his eclectic taste has allowed him to pick and rework songs he has loved in a new, original and refreshing format.

Internationally renowned as one of the worlds finest DJs, he’s joined on ‘Version’ by an array of singers; including the irrepressible musical talents of Dirt McGirt aka ODB (R.I.P) spitting verse on Britney’s ‘Toxic’, Robbie Williams nailing The Charlatans’ seminal ‘Only One I Know’ as if it was his own, in fact making it his own, and then there’s Lily Allen on a phenomenal interpolation of The Kaiser Chiefs ‘Oh My God’.

‘Stop Me’ is currently on rotation on many National radio stations including the b-list at BBC Radio 1. We are expecting this to be one of this year’s anthems here at Division, get on this now or miss out!

Please note that Mark Ronson’s brand new website has just gone live at – www.markronson.co.uk

The album ‘Version’ is released on April 16th via Columbia Records

05/03/2007 SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE

Acclaimed Swedish Burning Heart artists Sounds Like Violence are due to make a rare visit to the UK this month with a one-off show at The Borderline in London this coming Sunday March 11th.

"Soul-crushingly magnificent...these tracks are positively compelling. KKKKK." - Kerrang "From the first note to the last...explosive, original and simply mind-blowing." - Absolute Punk "Giving vehemence a new voice, Sounds Like Violence is vital." - Rock Sound

SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE

WITH BLOOD ON MY HANDS

With Blood On My Hands is a fitting title for SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE's long-awaited full-length debut. There's blood alright…and it's coursing like venom through every song on the album. It's smeared on the walls, dripping on the floor, oozing from frayed arteries and drowning lead vocalist Andreas Söderlund's damaged, scarred psyche. It's the blood that's filling the hole where his heart used to be...and inciting the band's frantic, downright explosive sound.

If catharsis was the main theme of SLV's critically-acclaimed debut CDEP The Pistol, then With Blood On My Hands takes it a step further by manifesting the unflinching, searingly-honest imagery of a man struggling with the demons of "black love" as Söderlund describes it. Whether it's an affair that's exciting-yet-destructive or simply the bitter condemnation of an ex-lover, With Blood On My Hands is a raw, exposed nerve revealing unhinged pain and jagged tension through its dynamic songwriting.

As a whole, With Blood On My Hands follows a trajectory similar to that of a destructive relationships, beginning with a steady, nervous beat and gradually erupting into a buzzsaw of guitars and percussive stomp. Blasting out unpolished, gritty pop hooks that drive the stake deeper and deeper with each crushing riff, With Blood On My Hands gushes more and more until it finally reaches a critical level with the incredible the album closer "The Greatest." It never felt this good to be on life support.

SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE is Andreas Söderlund (vocals, guitar), Philip Hall (guitar), Daniel Teodorsson (bass, vocals) and Daniel Peterson (drums). With Blood On My Hands was recorded and produced by the band at Mission Hall Studio in Sebbarp, Sweden.
