SOULJA BOY

Debut Single Crank That (Soulja Boy) out December 17th
Debut Album souljaboytellem.com out November 19th

How are your moves coming along…?

In-the-know Premiership players, Beyonce and, erm, SpongeBob SquarePants all have one thing in common – they know how to do the ‘Crank That’ Dance. The infectious dance has spawned numerous remixes and encouraged a staggering 16 million people to view the ‘How to Crank That – Instructional video’ on YouTube. The man behind this furore is Soulja Boy Tell’em and his hot debut single ‘Crank That (Soulja Boy)’.

Soulja Boy Tell’em is the hottest rapper in the States. His debut single ‘Crank That (Soulja Boy)’ has been #1 for seven weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Airplay, Digital and Ringtone charts. That’s quite an achievement for a 17 year old who has only been signed to Interscope Records for a year.

The track ‘Crank That (Soulja Boy)’ is ready to make its mark on this side of the Atlantic, when it is released on December 17th through Collipark Music/Interscope Records. The track will also be digitally available from November 5th exclusively on iTunes. The single includes a remix from Travis Barker (Blink 182/+44).

Part of Soulja Boy Tell’em’s magic is what he brings to the scene as an entertainer. With his personalized Soulja Boy Sunglasses and unique dance routines, he’s putting the fun back into hip hop. Along with putting his own shows and songs together plus producing all his own music, Soulja Boy Tell’em is a rare breed.

Not surprisingly, www.souljaboytellem.com has become the most viewed artist site on the web. It’s quite fitting then that his debut album should be called ‘souljaboytellem.com’, which is released on November 19th.

CANADIANS THE VINCENT BLACK SHADOW SET TO TOUR WITH SILVERSTEIN

Debut Album ‘Fears In The Water’ out November 5 through Bodog Music

New Single ‘Fears In The Water’ out October 29

Bodog band THE VINCENT BLACK SHADOW are gearing up for a busy November with an upcoming support slot on Silverstein’s UK tour as well as the release of their debut album, Fears In The Water, out November 5.

The Vancouver based quintet is comprised of Cassandra Ford (vocals) and brothers Robbie (guitar / vocals), Chris (bass / vocals) and Anthony Kirkham (drums). In 2000, Rob and Cassandra met while ordering the same obscure martini at a local hot spot. This spawned a friendship which then turned into music collaboration. With the addition of the other band members, THE VINCENT BLACK SHADOW was born having taken their name from a mysterious motorcycle in a Hunter S. Thompson book…

What makes THE VINCENT BLACK SHADOW stand out – besides Cassandra’s love of gaming and S&M – is quite possibly their individual musical tastes. The band cite Ennio Morricone, Angelo Badalamenti, Danny Elfman, Faith No More, No Doubt, Chris Isaak, Blondie, Danzig, Megadeth and Burt Bacharach as some of their musical influences.

THE VINCENT BLACK SHADOW signed to Bodog Music in 2006. The UK release of their first album is especially important to Cassandra who was born on this lovely side of the pond! The band’s debut is both unapologetic and unyielding. They’ll take you through a journey of highs (Metro) and lows (Don’t Go Soft) that will surely make you press play over and over again…

OCTOBER/NOVEMBER TOUR 2007

Following the limited edition vinyl release of ‘Hold On’ earlier in the year and a string of dates supporting the likes of Air Traffic, Good Shoes and Tiny Dancers, Liverpool quintet The Sonic Hearts take to the road again in October and November. The first run of dates sees the band joining Amy MacDonald as main support in venues across the UK before setting off on a headline tour and finishing up the year on the road with Scouting for Girls.

The Sonic Hearts are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album (produced by Jim Lowe, who’s worked with The Stereophonics and more), which was recorded at The Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire. The album promises to capture the magic and charisma of their live performances whilst showcasing a truly epic sound.

Crammed with outrageously lush harmonies, stand out melodies and fine musicianship, the album perfectly showcases the undeniable song writing talent of front man Sean Francis Butler and promises songs that will undoubtedly be floating across airwaves, festival sites and indie club dance floors alike.

KERRANG! TOUR 2008 CONFIRMED -

COHEED AND CAMBRIA HEADLINE

www.noworldfortomorrow.com

Kerrang! is proud to announce that the Kerrang! Tour 2008 will be taking place across January and February next year, hitting 13 cities across the UK and Ireland with the best of this year’s – and next – rock talent!

Headlining the tour on each night will be New Jersey progressive rockers Coheed and Cambria, in support of their stunning new album No World For Tomorrow. Pop punk scamps Madina Lake, who have just come off their own UK tour, will be bringing their overflowing energy to the tour, and Charlie Simpson’s post hardcore/ rock outfit Fightstar will be taking this tour as an opportunity to show off their new tracks from second album One Day Son This Will All Be Yours. Opening each night will be Philadelphia’s Circa Survive, who are spending the remainder of this year touring the US.

Kicking off at the Belfast Mandela Hall on 23 January, the tour will then rock its way through Dublin and the UK, ending up at Brixton Academy on 8 February! Tickets for all shows are just £15 (that’s £3.75 PER BAND!) and go on pre-sale 26 October from 9am – and on general sale on 27 October from 9am.

Kerrang! Editor Paul Brannigan says, "This is the third year of the Kerrang! Tour and it's our strongest line up yet. The bill is a testament to the strength and diversity of Kerrang!'s world and we know that together, the four bands will get 2008 off to the loudest possible start. There'll be Kerrang! staff at every show, so we'll see you down the front..."

Since their official inception in 2001, Coheed and Cambria have won over a huge fanbase with their progressive and conceptual music, playing with some of the biggest names in rock music such as The Used, AFI and Thrice to get their unique sound to the masses. Their new album Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World For Tomorrow - the follow up to 2005’s Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness is released this month.

Comprising of twins Nathan & Matthew Leone, Dan Torelli and Mateo Camargo, Chicago’s Madina Lake have been at the forefront of the rock scene over the last 12 months. Their debut album From Them, Through Us, To You has produced two anthemic rock songs ‘House of Cards’ and ‘Here I Stand’ with third singe ‘One Last Kiss’ sure to have the same effect on this nation’s rock youth!

From the release of first single ‘Paint Your Target’, Fightstar have been on consistent form with a flurry of memorable songs and live performances over the last two years, and three top 40 singles in the UK charts. Charlie Simpson and co. have gained thousands of fans as well as leaving Island Records to sign up with Institute, an imprint of Gut Records. Their new album One Day Son This Will All Be Yours was released in September and as the only Brits on the tour, they’ll be looking to steal the show!

From touring with giants such as My Chemical Romance and Billy Talent, plus playing on the inaugural Vans Warped Tour, Philadelphia rock act Circa Survive have been honing their live skills over the last two years and are ready to take the UK by storm – their 2007 album On Letting Go released on Equal Vision having hit the US Billboard Top 30.

The Twang

‘PUSH THE GHOSTS’ ON NOVEMBER 19th

SALT ‘N’ PEPA GET TWANGOED

DIGITAL EP CHARTS THE HISTORY OF THE TRACK

1. Push The Ghosts (Acoustic Version)
2. Push The Ghosts (Single Version)
3. Push The Ghosts (Album Version)
4. Push The Ghosts (TCS Club Remix)
5. Push The Ghosts (Video)
6. Band Audio Commentary

‘Push The Ghosts’ is, essentially, the start of The Twang. The first song written by the band after guitarist Stu Hartland joined, the first song on which Phil gave up the bass guitar (to John) and concentrated purely on singing. The first song to be written by the five lads we now know as The Twang. It was the first song the band demoed with producer Gavin Monaghan, who went on to man the desk for the gold certified debut, ‘Love It When I Feel Like This’. For the band, ‘Push The Ghosts’ was the moment when The Twang really seemed like a possibility, the point at which being in the band could replace the workaday lives they were stuck with at the time.

The album version, which features as part of this bundle, is that moment on record. Written by John and Saunders whilst Phil was on holiday with impetus from (now) band photographer Lee, the tune started with Lee playing a bassline on a keyboard in the studio. As with some songs, the verses and choruses flowed and, on Phil’s return, not only did he find he no longer played bass in The Twang, he also found a basic new song that all agreed would be their first real moment. The five then worked this into the song you hear in very quick time, John recalling the whole thing came together in under an hour, Phil remarking that Stu’s guitar line was nailed within 20 minutes of that. As with all band’s signature moments, it all came together so easily it felt like it was writing itself. The Salt ‘n’ Pepa moment is courtesy of John. There’s no big story here, like the rest of the history of the song, he had a moment, tried it and all agreed it worked perfectly.

The acoustic version, in a rare Twang moment, came after the album version. Most Twang tunes are written on acoustic and then fleshed out and re-interpreted by the band, ‘Push The Ghosts’ worked the other way, Stu doing his thing in double quick time, as ever basing the version on an acoustic guitar line that is inaudible in the original.

For the single, the band elected to change the song slightly to re-interpret it more as a dance floor tune. Taking the sample as a reference, the single version loses none of the swagger and majesty of the original but marries it with a more rhythmically strict beat and sparing use of the ‘Push It’ sample to create a new version of this most important of Twang tunes.

Also part of the package is the video for ‘Push The Ghosts’, which sees the urban fox of the album cover on the rampage with a friend, the remix of the track by TCS (including one of the world famous Miss Moneypenny’s DJs), and an audio commentary from the band on the importance and history of ‘Push The Ghosts’ for The Twang.

‘Push the Ghosts’ digital EP is released on November 19th

ENTER SHIKARI

‘THE ZONE’

‘A Mini Album full of B-Sides and Rarities’
12th November 2007 (Ambush Reality)

A press release full of numbers and words.

On Tuesday 6th November, Enter Shikari will headline a sold out show at London’s Brixton Academy. Those of you who’ve failed to keep previous Enter Shikari press releases for the past 12 months may need your memories refreshing, so let us point out that this is exactly one year to the day since playing their milestone Astoria show in 2006 as the second only unsigned band to sell out the venue.

And what a 12 months it’s been.

When released in March, Enter Shikari’s debut album ‘Take To The Skies’ went in at number 4 in the official UK chart, and has now reached certified ‘Gold’ status. (don’t y’know that’s 100,000 copies out the door…)

On top of making space for shiny gold discs, the band have also had to clear their shelves for two Kerrang! awards - ‘Best Live Band’ and ‘Spirit Of Independence’ and a NME award – the prestigious ‘John Peel Award For Musical Innovation’.

Then there was the return to Download… this year headlining to a packed 10,000 capacity tent, with a crowd spilling 10 rows deep out the sides. Tentbursting, BBC2 filmed performances at T In The Park, Reading and Leeds festivals followed along with three European tours and countless European festivals. Enter Shikari also crammed in four totally sold out UK tours, three trips to the USA and a couple of visits to Japan, which included blowing away 15,000 kids at Summersonic in Tokyo and a run-in with the Japanese police over a broken karaoke screen.

Add to that over 2.5million Youtube viewings of the ‘Sorry You’re Not A Winner’ video (which cost three grand to make. including beer and sandwiches) 160K myspace friends and a myspace play count that has smashed the 7 million barrier and you have one of the most important bands to come out of the UK this side of the millennium.

Amidst all that, the band found time to write and record a bunch of B-sides for various singles. Had these tracks been written and recorded in time, they almost certainly would have found their way onto the album. But life doesn’t work like that. Of course, these tracks are all pretty much already out there in the universe, but there’s still them folks who’s lives have yet to be enriched by ‘em… so for them, there’s this.

Track listing as follow:

The Feast (demo) - Winner / Plan B B-side
Kickin' Back On The Surface Of Your Cheek - 'Anything...' B-side
Keep It On Ice - 'Anything...' B-side
Adieu(Routron 500 Remix) - NEW
Sorry You're Not A Winner (Zane Low BBC Session)
Mothership (demo) - debut download only single
Acid Nation - Johnny Sniper B-side
Enter Shikari (demo)- debut download only single

Get ready for the Dynamite Trio…
N-DUBZ
New single
You Better Not Waste My Time
out October 22nd

WINNERS OF BEST NEWCOMER AT THE 2007 MOBO AWARDS

An underground phenomenon, home-grown, straight from the streets of Camden, N-Dubz have been spittin’ out flavour some tunes since last year.

This autumn they will be releasing their new single ‘You Better Not Waste My Time’ out on October 22nd through LRC/Polydor Records.

Past tracks like the head-nodding ‘Feva Las Vegas’ and the infectious ‘I Swear’ has already netted this trio a steady and loyal fan base. If any proof was needed, to date they have sold thousands of copies of ‘I Swear’ – without any press and promotion - and their myspace page has seen them clock up over 53,000 friends, with a 100 new requests a day.

N-Dubz have seen their profile rocket, partly thanks to great support from fellow Londoners Sway and Kano. The group have also been championed by major players like Tim Westwood (Radio One), Diggz (Galaxy), and Trevor Nelson (Radio One).

Ready to make their assault on the UK charts, the Camden trio - female vocalist Tulisa plus rappers Dappy and Fazer - are a rare breed in the industry as they write, record and produce their own material. This fits well with the group’s mantra “Be Your Own Boss”.

‘You Better Not Waste My Time’ is a catchy urban gem, and is the track that is set to gain them recognition as one of the hottest-rising groups of the UK urban music scene.

N-Dubz are currently working on their debut album, set to drop early next year.

Coheed And Cambria
release new album

New album No World For Tomorrow
Released October 22nd on Columbia Records.
www.noworldfortomorrow.com

Coheed and Cambria are all set to release “NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW” out October 22, 2007. The album is the band’s fourth record, and second for Columbia. The new record follows the critically acclaimed Million Selling "Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV, Vol 1: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness," which peaked at number 7 on the "Billboard Top 200."

Coheed and Cambria (Claudio Sanchez – vocals, guitar; Travis Stever – guitar; Mic Todd – bass and Chris Pennie - Drums) spent the first half of 2007 working on "NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW" in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Stone Sour) and mixer Randy Staub (Metallica). With original drummer Josh Eppard out of the band, Coheed recruited Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters to play drums on the record. The making of "NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW" marks the band’s first time they have worked with new Columbia co-Chairman Rick Rubin, who played an A&R role in the making of the record.

"NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW" is a notable progression for the band, who has now added ex-Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Chris Pennie as an official new member. Sanchez says: "Josh leaving the band was a big deal for us, but having Taylor on the record, and now having Chris in the band full time has really allowed us to progress in a way that is really exciting for all of us." While still very much a Coheed record in sound, "NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW" is a much more personal document for Sanchez as he allowed the emotional events of recent years to profoundly effect the lyrical content for the first time ever. Still, the new record does complete the story of the Amory Wars, and is in fact the final chapter in the saga of Coheed and Cambria Kilgannon, the main characters in a story that wraps all of the band's concept albums into one.

"I found it impossible to write this record without allowing my personal life to creep into the direction of the story," Sanchez shares. "I had a clear vision of where I wanted the record to go musically in terms of experimenting with new instrumentation, but when it came time for the lyrics, I opened myself up to let things go to where they naturally were going. It turns out that what happened to me over the last couple of years helped shaped the conclusion of the story better than I could have ever imagined. So it all worked out."

The band will tour the world heavy and hard for the next year at least. Stay tuned to Coheed and Cambria’s new blog site, www.noworldfortomorrow.com, to find video news announcements by Sanchez himself. The announcements are updated weekly.

08/10/2007 Paul Steel
Even Steel Breaks

The all-too common curse of England's top footballers - the dreaded fractured metatarsal - has now struck down your favourite psychedelic pop warrior.

At his recent Electric Ballroom gig in London, Mr Steel was enthusiastically closing the set with a storming version of live favourite 'Raygun' when he landed awkwardly on his foot. Although he braved it out until the end of the show, it was clear something was wrong and after a trip to the hospital two fractures of the 5th metatarsal on his left foot were confirmed.

Unfortunately, this now means that the rest of Paul's upcoming autumn gigs have now been cancelled.

Here's Paul, explaining the disappointing situation in his own words:

"I'm really really sorry to everyone who bought tickets and anyone who wanted to go. The band and I are gutted we can't come and the play the tunes to you. We'll make sure the shows are rescheduled soon.”

"I was quite up for roughing out, but it takes me about 5 minutes to get to my kitchen on crutches and it's exhausting. I don't think I could do the show any justice without being able to move about on-stage."

We shall endeavour to reschedule the dates as soon as Paul is better. Stay tuned for more details and check Paul's myspace blog for updates on his recovery from the man himself.
Refunds are available from point of purchase!

04/10/2007 Mark Ronson releases new single

featuring Amy Winehouse

“Valerie” released on October 15th on Columbia

www.myspace.com/markronson

Confirming his status as music’s most heavyweight visionary, critically acclaimed Mark Ronson returns on October 15th with the stellar new single ‘Valerie’. Featuring the powerhouse vocals of eminent songstress Amy Winehouse, it’s a blazing, bold revival of the dynamic Zutons track and follows the smash-hit singles ‘Oh My God’ & ‘Stop Me’.

The third song to be taken from his gold-selling LP ‘Version’, ‘Valerie’ kick-starts with irrepressible attitude before fast-tracking into a big band chorus of chiming bells, saxophone and Motown purr. Available on Maxi CD, 10” vinyl and to download with a host of bonus material, it also includes the video, which was directed by Robert Hales (Stereophonics, Justin Timberlake, Scissor Sisters).

One of the definitive albums of 2007, ‘Version’ is a thoroughly modern masterclass. Hailed as “little short of a miracle” by The Independent, it’s also one of the Top 20 best-selling LPs of the year. After debuting in the UK charts at Number 2, it spent its first 4 weeks in the Top 10 and was certified Gold with sales of 200,000 in less than one month.

Internationally renowned as one of the world’s finest DJ/producer’s, Mark’s production credits over the last year include: Amy Winehouses’ Number 1 LP ‘Back To Black’, plus Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams, Ghostface Killah, Lily Allen & his Allido protégé Rhymefest. More recently, he created a landmark remix of Bob Dylan's 'Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)' – the first time ever a producer has been allowed to mix a Dylan track.

The Color Fred

Bend To Break out 5th November 2007

(Equal Vision Records)

With Bend To Break, Fred Mascherino--known for his work as lead guitarist and co-vocalist/songwriter for Taking Back Sunday has turned out one of the most exhilarating and gutsy solo projects in years. Operating under the guise of THE COLOR FRED, the first recording under his nom de rock was artfully executed with the help of legendary producer Lou Giordano (Sugar, Paul Westerberg, Sunny Day Real Estate).

A triumph in every sense, the disc finds Mascherino where he belongs--out in front and wearing his heart proudly on his sleeve. From the urgent, three-minute firecracker “Get Out” that launches Bend To Break, to the six-minute, lighter-ready opus “Don’t Pretend,” the Coatesville, PA-bred, Northern Jersey-based musician has created an accomplished and conscience-invading album. And while TBS fans will be delighted to know THE COLOR FRED is in the same musical realm, its debut doesn’t mirror the world famous band Fred Mascherino has played with since 2003.

THE COLOR FRED had been in Mascherino’s plans since before he joined Taking Back Sunday, but his solo project was put on the backburner with that band’s meteoric rise. In the wake of two gold records while in the band--2004’s Where You Want To Be (Victory) and 2006’s Louder Now (Warner Bros.)--and their subsequent touring commitments, it wasn’t until the Spring of 2007 that Bend To Break truly took shape.

Once again teaming with respected label Equal Vision (Coheed and Cambria, Saves The Day, Chiodos), a worldly and wise Mascherino is celebrating his achievements as he looks forward. If the explosive and contagious admission “Complaintor” is sure to draw the interest of fans, its one of eleven inventive, exciting and honest tracks awaiting your attention.

Mascherino is also quick to point out that the CD packaging is 100% recycled material, with an inlay tray made of cornstarch. The green lifestyle is evident in the 1982 VW Rabbit he owns, and which runs on veggie oil, not to mention the carbon offsets he bought for recording. He also plans to offset as much of his imminent touring commitments with THE COLOR FRED as possible.

Bend To Break is out 5th November 2007 on Equal Vision records.

04/10/2007 ZICO CHAIN RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM

Released October 15th on Hassle Records

www.zicochain.com

www.myspace.com/zicochain

When you’ve woken up from having your head battered by the bloody ‘Aneamia’, your veins fired up by ‘Junk’ and your eyes popped by ‘Pretty Pictures’, you’ll probably want to meet the people who did it to you. Meet Zico Chain: Chris Glithero, songwriter and singing bassist with a fire in his belly and an evil Mancunian glint in his eye. There’s Paul Frost, the long-haired wiry guitarist whose zen-like calm might trick you at first, until you hear the frenetic, screeching punishment he gives Chris’ melodies. And finally, Ollie Middleton on drums, a pogoing force of nature with hair as big as his heart. Together they’re the tightest of rock threesomes and the closest of comrades – spreading their own brand of chaos across the UK, Europe and America. Like Motorhead crossed with QOTSA (and of course, a dollop of Grunge), they’re here to bring back both the fun and the fire.

If, like many people, you thought the Britrock scene was stagnating, you need to hear ‘Food’. Due for release through Hassle Records on 15th October and produced by Joe Baresi (Tool, Bad Religion). ‘Food’ takes the dreams and fantasies of the American west coast and transplants them into a flaming ball of ‘Britishness’.

The trio have already made their mark this side of the pond; they are Slash and Duff’s favourite new band, they’ve been in MTV2s chart for the last two months, one week at Number 1. Kids around the country are tattooed with the band’s logo and the most recent single was a Radio 1 rock show Record Of The Week. Not bad for a band who haven’t even released their debut album yet!

With the release of ‘Food’, there’ll be no stopping them. Oh yeah, what’s with the ‘Food’ thing anyway? Explains Chris: “It’s a common theme within the album, about being manipulated by other people, and other standards and other circles. You are the food for other people, the parasites who will feed of your failings and insecurities and inhibitions, so don’t allow yourself to be eaten. But we couldn’t have called the album ‘Don’t Allow Yourself To Be Eaten’”

Zico Chain are about to set fire to everything you thought British heavy rock could be.

Zico Chain will be heading out on tour with Cat The Dog in November and December, the dates are:

  • 18-Nov Southampton Joiners
  • 19-Nov London Underworld
  • 20-Nov Bristol Academy
  • 22-Nov Cambridge The Graduate

ANY TROUBLE – LIVE AT THE JAZZ CAFÉ, 18 OCTOBER 2007
FIRST UK GIG IN 23 YEARS!

Any Trouble – one of the original bands from the flashpoint of the early 80s new wave boom – are back, reunited and reformed, and resigned to their original label: the recently-revitalised and always-notorious Stiff Records. Hot on the heels of their new album – Life In Reverse – and the acclaimed reissue of their 1980 debut Where Are All The Nice Girls? comes their first public gig in 23 years.

This Jazz Café date follows the band’s reunion at a secret Stiff gig back in August, which was filmed by renown director - and massive Any Trouble fan - Nigel Dick, whose credits include Wonderwall by Oasis and …Baby One More Time by Britney Spears and can be seen on YouTube at www.youtube.com/stiffrecords.

Life In Reverse reunites Any Trouble with their original producer, John Wood (Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, Nico). At the helm as always is lead singer Clive Gregson, an in-demand songwriter both in his own right (recording several albums with Christine Collister) and with the likes of Nanci Griffith (the recent Radio 2 A-listed I Love This Town).

It follows March 07’s expanded reissue of Any Trouble’s debut album – Where Are All The Nice Girls?. “A real treat” according to Phill Jupitus on 6 Music and “fantastic” according to BBC Radio Merseyside’s Juke Box Jury. As the Nottingham Evening Post pointed out, “you wouldn’t be surprised to see (some tracks) on Maximo Park’s next album.”

ANY TROUBLE

Any Trouble formed in Crewe in 1980 and released four albums and a brace of singles across the first part of the decade. In 2007, they’re back together for a new record deal - with their original label - a new tour and a new album. They are:

• Clive Gregson (vocals, guitar)
• Chris Parks (guitar, vocals)
• Martin Hughes (drums, percussion)
• Mark Griffiths (bass)

At the flashpoint of post-punk pub rock boom, Any Trouble signed to Stiff Records with their debut album – Where Are All The Nice Girls? – receiving a Melody Maker front cover. It was produced by John Wood whose other credits include the Nick Drake, Squeeze, Pink Floyd and Nico.

In 1981 the band embraced more of a new wave sound with a second Stiff album – Wheels In Motion – produced by Mike Howlett (OMD, Gang of Four, Teardrop Explodes). They then decamped to EMI America for two albums including the critically acclaimed double, Wrong End of the Race. Touring the world, Any Trouble even inspired the name of a bar in downtown Madrid, where the music policy is strictly post-punk and anti-pop. Any Trouble Rock Madrid can be found at 6 Avenida de Baviera, Parque de las Avenidas.

The band split in the mid-80s with Clive Gregson’s solo career being the most high profile. He has toured extensively and recorded five albums with Christine Collister. He then formed a trio with Eddi Reader and Boo Hewerdine and is a long-term member of Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra, playing on her album Hearts In Mind. Nanci’s recording of Clive’s I Love This Town was A-listed by BBC Radio 2 in 2006.

The 00s has seen a great resurgence of interest in both Clive and Any Trouble’s work. First with the 2002 compilation of Any Trouble classics, Girls Are Always Right. The re-release of the Gregson & Collister catalogue (via Gott Discs) followed in 2006. Then in March 07 Where Are All The Nice Girls? received an expanded reissue and was hailed as “a real treat” by Phill Jupitus and “fantastic” by BBC Radio Merseyside. The brand-new album Life In Reverse - which reunites the band with Stiff Records - is released on September 10, with live shows to be announced.
