You have been booked to play at the Leeds & Reading festivals this
year. Are you looking forward to it and how did the booking come about?
I am absolutely looking forward to playing Reading and Leeds. We did our first festival show up in Scotland a month ago and it was pretty wild. I watched videos of Nirvana playing Reading when I was like 14 so there's alot of anticipation built up there. As far as the booking goes, I'm not really sure how these things happen it just kind of shows up in your inbox and then you have a little party. When did you know you were playing? A couple months ago? I'm not exactly sure this summer has been pretty hazey. Will you be spending the whole weekend at the festivals? Yes I will. We have a bunch of friends who are doing the dates with us and we can't wait to see them play and get down with them in a foreign country. Is there anyone else you are looking forward to seeing at the festivals? I want to see Passion Pit, Radiohead, Titus Andronicus. All kinds of folks. Do you have any funny festival experiences, either as a performer or a paying attendee? Our first night at Rockness up in Scotland I got separated from my band and got trapped talking to a young doctor from Glasgow debating the NHS. We found each other right as I was nestling myself into a patch of grass to go to sleep. What other bands would you like to share the stage with past or present? I want to open for Kool Keith, Panda Bear, Lykke Li. There are so many people. I always say Daft Punk and Weezy F Baby. How would you describe your perfect festival? Rain, can't find the drugs you want, amplifier malfunction, locked out of the hotel room, beautiful girls etc. What has been the highlight of your career so far? Opening for Les Savy Fav in Brooklyn was a fun. Tim Harrington changed clothes like 7 times and people were down for it. If you hadn’t been in a band, what do you think you would have done with your life career wise? I think maybe I would go to law school, cut my hair off, and settle down on revolutionary road. If you could change places with anyone for a day – who would it be and why? I think the blonde dude from PeepShow, Jez, really has it going on. Plus, he's a serious and dedicated musician so it would really fill the gaps over here. |
