Not Advised are a Hampshire based band that have played alongside such bands as YouMeAtSix and The Blackout.  Their EP ‘Fight For This’ is due for release on 14th September 2009.

Their style is best described as up-beat Pop punk and I strongly recommend fans of bands such as Fall Out Boy to get their hands on a copy of this.

The first track ‘Red Light Situation’ is an bouncy track that is apparently about being stuck on the hard shoulder when their van breaks down, the basic message here is about making the best of a bad situation and taking positives from negatives.  A good message.

‘Right Now’ has a catchy little intro that bounces from one speaker to the other. The drums belt out throughout and Jim’s vocals are polished and crisp.  A real dancy track that would make a good single.

‘The A.R.K’ is the third offering on the EP. It is more guitar based than the previous track and the vocals are a bit slower with good harmonies from Greg and Ash that compliment Jim perfectly.

‘Jane Says Left’  A good bit of machine gunning guitar work opens up this track.  It’s tempo goes up and down, one minute slow then it pumps it up a notch. Plenty of catchy sing along bits that would be excellent live. A nice crowd sing along track.

The final track from the EP is ‘The World’s Not Ready’ and this is the main track that reminds me of the better Fall Out Boy tracks.  It flows beautifully and the vocals really spit out at you with so much feeling. The subject matter seems to be about being given a chance to prove yourself and show your true feelings.  My favourite track of the lot.

This is a band that is destined for greatness   9.5/10
