| Upload | You have just announced your first UK Headline tour. Are you looking forward to it and what made you decide to take this big step to head out on your own ? |
| Chris | Well we’ve been toying around with the idea
for a while and all of us really wanted to do it but it is risky. Although
we did 4 tours and 1 festival last year in the UK we were supporting
much larger bands on all of those. So although the exsposure was tremendous,
you can’t really gauge how it would be if it was just you playing.
We sent out a feeler blog on myspace and the reaction was so overwhelming
and supportive that we decided to roll with it. So although there is
too much work to do when it comes down to it, we’re so excited
for people to see our full set as opposed to the 25 minute power sets
people are used to. We’re keeping it in small intimate venues
to really make it special and we’ll be able to do a lot of things
that you can’t when your playing some massive hall. Now the hard
part of course is getting people to show up! |
| Upload | Is this a self funded tour or have you managed to obtain sponsorship ? |
| Chris | Self funded- don’t remind me. Hopefully they still don’t have debtors prison! |
| Upload | Are you going back to basics and using the splitter bus and sleeping on peoples floors or will you be doing things a bit more comfortably? |
| Chris | We’re going for a bus bringing a lot of people along- if you’re gonna do it might as well do it right. Though I do really like crashing at people’s houses fun to see how and where other people live- I’m hoping for one actual house party on the tour that would rule! |
| Upload | Have you decided on support bands for this tour yet ? |
| Chris | We’re gonna have all UK bands. We’ve made friends with a lot of bands there and we’re trying to give everybody a show or two then a set local in each city so every night it’ll be a little different which either keeps things fresh or is bit of a nightmare! So hopefully the first one. |
| Upload | We noticed that the tour ends on 12th June which incidentally is just in time for the start of the Download Festival on 13th June. You played there last year and got a great response, how was it for you and does this mean we may be seeing AOF again at the festival this year? |
| Chris | Oh Download was a dream. One of my favorite shows of all time and that’s saying something considering it started in the am! You never know about a return! They sort the big boys out first then come looking for guys like us! |
| Upload | You seem to be constantly on the go and are always touring and recording. You have just completed your new album so when will we be able to buy this and if you were writing your own review on the album what would you say about it? |
| Chris | I’d say it’s the best Army of Freshmen record yet. Very excited for the world to hear it. We re trying everything in our power to have it with us when we come to the UK- we’ll for sure have a song or and a video out by that time. |
| Upload | Do you have any guest appearances from people from other bands on the new album? |
| Chris | Yup! Top secret for now though! Lots of new friends and old . |
| Upload | What are the best and worst things you have had written about the band by the press ? |
| Chris | Hmm. Saying we only succeed in making The All American Rejects sound like Slayer kinda hurt- that of course was a big UK rock mag- they are the coldest. There’s been many nice things though- you tend to only remember the bad! |
| Upload | Most people in the UK will have only seen you live during your legendary performances over the past few years on the Get Happy Tour with Bowling For Soup. Will we be seeing the return of the Get Happy Tour this year in the UK? |
| Chris | Wow! Legendary! You guys and gals really throw that word around too much over there but thank you nonetheless! No Get Happy in the UK in 08 we did 2 in 07 so we wanted to not overkill it. |
| Upload | Many of your fans have been getting AOF tattoo’s, which are the best and worst you have seen ? |
| Chris | You know I can’t say the worst but I really like this newer one I saw with boxing gloves. Any of the lyric ones are cool cause your like something I wrote will be on that persons body forever… kinda of cool in a way. |
| Upload | If you could be in any other band in the world, past or present, which one would it be and why? |
| Chris | Come on that’s easy… The Beatles! Imagine everyone likes you… it’s easy if you try-hi! |
