Well it’s our 3rd show in the Get happy tour and it still has something different to offer every night. Tonight sees the show come to the Newport centre and another packed and happy crowd.

First up are the fantastic guys that make up Army of Freshmen and with their upbeat happy rock sound they get the crowd moving from the first note of the awesome ‘Get Em Up’. “Get those hands up in the air” demands front man Chris Jay. During the next track ’10,000 Years’ Chris retrieves a Wales flag that has been thrown up onto the stage by one Army of Freshmen fan who has decorated it with the bands name and a huge amount of signatures, he waves it around then drapes it over one of the stacks.

“I was talking to a guy in Manchester yesterday” says Chris “he told me that people in Wales don’t know how to rock hard” he continues “But I told him that one of the best gigs we ever played was in TJ’s in Newport so fuck you!” Which get a huge cheer from the welsh fans.

They continue to blast out their amazing tracks to an extremely up for it crowd. Jaret comes out to sing on the track ‘End Of The Day’ to another huge cheer from the crowd, its seems all to soon that this set is over as Dan throws his keyboard the full length of the stage to the awaiting arms of Bobby, their Manager, followed by Aarons Guitar. These guys certainly know how to have a good time on the stage and I think the crowd have an even better time watching. View Gallery >>>

“What the fuck is up Wales” is the announcement from Zebrahead front man Ali Tabatabaee “I wanna see everyone go off right now, put your fuckin horns in the air” the crowd obey with all horns raised punching the air as Zebrahead rock whole place. With their hardcore sounds everybody in the place is moving. “Thank you very much guys” says Ali “Are you all having a good time?” which gets screams from the crowd. They then play their great new track which they have only played live 4 times so far, but you would never know it.

“This is our first time in Newport” Ali says after the track, “We love Wales” “now I need you all to jump, are you ready?” they crowd scream to signal their readiness “that sucked” exclaims Ali “I said are you fuckin ready?” which gets an even bigger scream as they blast into yet another great track. The end of this track signals the phenomenon that is getting the crowd to take three steps backwards then to sit down, they sweeten the deal tonight by saying that Kai from Army Of Freshmen will meet them on the merch desk after the show and he is sure to make them very happy, this seems to get a few more people sitting and then the beginning of the track sees them all jump into the air which is quite a scene.

The crowd are then treated to a speech about how there is too much violence in the world and masturbation leads to a peaceful co existence and makes you feel good, so jack off for peace! They fly through the rest of the set with lots of ‘Minge’ and glow stick throwing which all makes for a highly entertaining and amusing set. View Gallery >>>

The start of the Bloodhoung Gang’s set has the usual video playing on the big screen before Jared emerges and uses his giant launcher to fire t-shirts and vouchers across to room to the screaming fans.

They blast out their first track before thanking all the bands on the tour, after the second track Jared proceeds to rip off his t-shirt and rub it all over his body before throwing it out to the awaiting crowd who all grab and pounce on it. Another fantastic track follows before Jimmy Pop exclaims “somebody threw a shoe at me!” During the great new track ‘Screwing You On The Beach At Night’ the screen on the stage shows to fat women doing the booty dance, while Jaret from Bowling For Soup comes out to film on the stage.

“I don’t like your rules that I cant have a cigarette inside the building” says Jared “So we are going to leave you in the capable hands of these security guys and go outside for a cigarette” which sees the band leave the stage and head outside while the screen show a 1940’s style cigarette commercial.

They return to the stage to play some more great tracks,including the brilliant ‘Bad Touch’ Its that time of the night where Jared downs his jug of Jageremeister on the stage and throws it up back into the jugs then drinks it back down, followed by two yellow glow sticks. Jimmy Pop then presents him with his baseball cap which Jared throws up into and Jimmy Pop replaces back onto his head.

It does not matter how many times you see it, its still a fantastic show by the Bloodhound Gang. View Gallery >>>

“Ladies and gentlemen im drunk” announces Jaret and Bowling for soup enter the stage, and “Evil Jared just threw up on Chris’s meat pie” the fantastic ‘My Hometown’ “This next song” says Jaret “is about an ex who unfortunately could not be here tonight” “so I want everyone to boo the fuck out of her right now” which see the crowd give a massive boo, then they play ‘Emily’

“Ladies and gentlemen” Jaret says after the track, “Than you for coming to see the Get Happy Tour”, “How many happy people do we have here?” he asks, judging by the scream I think everyone in the building is happy. Chris then decides to throw some tic taks into the crowd to see if anyone can catch on in their mouth. “Its great here in Newport” says Jaret, “But its so cold”, “Did you guys know that its snowing out right now” then follows the fantastic ‘Almost’ which Jaret stops half way through to pick up a hat that has been thrown onto the stage “Are you going to be sick in it” asks Chris.

He then thanks all the other bands for playing “You know I was really hung over today” he states, “Now im just shitfaced” which makes the crowd erupt into a cheer. After singing another track a small inflatable sheep has appeared on the stage from the crowd “There is something sticking out of this sheep’s ass” exclaims Jaret. He pulls out a piece of paper with a note scribbled onto it. “Hi im Lulu” he reads “If you are reading this it means that you have assaulted me by sticking a finger up my ass” he then reads the note out to the laughing crowd.

After they have played the wonderful ‘Im Gay’ and small inflatable guitar has now been thrown onto the stage “Smash it on the stage” Chris tells Jaret “It wont do it” replies Jaret as this then results in Jaret, Chris and Eric jumping up and down on the guitar to try and pop it, but with no success, “Lets just have the sheep hump the guitar” he says before positioning the sheep and the guitar into a compromising position in front of Gary’s drums.

“I think this would be a good time for me to order two shots of Jack” says Chris “Yeah lets get Chris some Jack Daniels” says Jaret they then sing a little song about Jack Daniels. “That’s our new single” says Jaret “We just make shit up, that’s how we roll”. “How many of you have seen us before” Jaret asks “Oh 6 of you” he says after counting the hands “Don’t you think now that you can see us how much more attractive we are?”, “I look in my bathroom mirror and see that everyday” he says. ‘The Bitch Song’ follows during which Jaret plays his guitar behind his head.

After a pause mid song and The Bloodhoung Gang coming out on stage to provide the band with some Jager the band finish the song. “We are having more fun than a human being should be allowed” states Chris “Im going to kick a sheep in the ass” he says. He places the sheep on the monitor and boots it out into the crowd.

After the fantastic ‘Ohio’ and ‘High School Never Ends the band have a woman in her underwear walk across the stage holding the hand of Jimmy Pop who I hear rumours about later had offered her £70 to do it. “That’s the best thing about being in a band” says Chris “You get half naked women walking across the stage.

“Well I have heard all the jokes about you welsh people fucking sheep” says Chris “but where we are from in Texas we fuck cows”. “This next song is about New Zealand where they also fuck cows and sheep” says Jaret. “Give yourselves a round of applause” says Chris after the song, “I want to come and kiss each and every one of you”.

“Would you like to see Chris’s new dance which he only created 4 days ago” asks Jaret. The crowd scream a yes and Chris does the funniest dance I have ever seen, as Jaret and Eric sing “Go Chris its your birthday” “Go Chris its your birthday” Back to the show and the brilliant ‘Girl All The Bad Guys Want’ after the track the crowd chant BFS BFS BFS “You guys are very good at chanting” says Jaret “Your chanters” They then play the wonderful new single ‘When We Die’ which the crowd love.

During ‘Punk Rock 101’ Jaret announces “Ladies and gentlemen for the first time ever this late in a show this is your Bowling for Soup photo opportunity and beverage break, as the whole band pose for pictures on stage. They then finish the track and thank the crowd once again and leave the stage.

The crowd begin to chant again BFS BFS BFS and the guys return to the stage to a huge cheer. They entertain the crowd by doing impressions of each other. They then play ‘1985’ and half way though they stop so that Eric and put on a bra that has been thrown onto the stage. Evil Jared from The Bloodhound gang is asked on stage and plays the bass lines for Eric while he sings and wears the bra. Then no sooner has it started than the show is over, another great evening with great entertainment and great fun with some of the nicest bands we have ever met. View Gallery >>>
