Band Bio:

Greetings from General Paulus

Creatively lurking in South East London lies the 3-piece band General Paulus. Gregg McKelly, heads it up on vocals/guitar and in a typical music fashion met his side kick Martyn Jackson at a bus stop in 2004, both carrying instruments a conversation was started about music and the value of the banjo and they hit it off.

Martyn, on bass and vocals, pretty much joined the band there and then. He brought with him a few of his own tunes and a willingness to sing backing vocals and play harmonica. His sound is more country folk than Gregg’s raw rock sound, culminating in a fine blend of their styles. A drummer was sourced through a friend of a friend (Nathan Reed) and after getting it all together in 2004 they are on a serious route for 2005/2006. As the runners up in The 2004 Big Blast competition with early musical offerings, they have now been in the studio to record the true beginnings of the band.

Their primary concern is to be gigging at the moment and have secured slots in and around London. They are self- managed but Gregg is determined to promote their writing skills as a band and hopes to interest promoters, labels and managers alike. General Paulus are currently practising like mad, and are writing and recording new material as you read this. They are currently juggling around with a few Pianists/Keyboards to add to the sound

They describe their music as Raw, Fresh & Honest and as Gregg really can’t handle a 9-5 ‘Normal Life’ as he puts it, he is going to keep his creative head moving to get them where they want to be.
