Who
are going to be the band of 2006? Well look no further, Not Your Hero
are that band! Not Your Hero are a poppunk/rock act from the south of
UK, fusing many different influences and styles to get their own unique
sound, which if you listen to the tracks, you can see why! 2005 brought
alot to the band, such as 2 EP recordings, many many shows, photo shoots,
gaining many listeners and fans, and most of all, having such a good
time. 2006 has alot in store for NYH, kicking the year off with a tour
of England, make sure you dont miss out!
'Take
4 good looking lads, stir in generous amounts of cheekiness, mix in
plenty of catchy pop punk riffs then sprinkle over influences from McFly
to Blink 182 and you have pop punkers Not Your Hero. Hailing from the
South West these guys may have only been together a year but it’s
evident that with the right label this band could well top the charts.
The
venue tonight is rather packed full of excited sweaty kids, and NYH
take to the stage having been billed higher than another popular local
band The Cedar Falls who the boys tell me are ‘a hard act to follow’.
By the end of the first song they’re looking as though they do
this every day of the week. The local fanbase is out in force and showing
their delight and appreciation at every guitar flourish and cheeky grin
thrown at them. Vocals are shared between guitarists Pete and Nick,
and bassist Tim. It works well and makes for an interesting and varied
set. Energy is in abundance and the guys work the stage well, and certainly
know how to keep their audience captivated with tomfoolery and spontaneous
kick jumps.
The
same vibe can clearly be heard upon listening to their promo cd. Full
of punchy punk catches coupled with happy pop beats. I really can’t
wait to hear what a professionally produced and mastered cd will sound
like. This band have a lot of promise. The perfect package for the TOTP
generation.'
