Southampton band ‘The Kiks’ were partially formed in autumn
2004 when members of a former band Paul McGeachie, and Reggie Bryant,
reunited to build the foundations of the band they are today. Shortly
after Paul and Reggie joined forces; Paul (with a little persuasion)
got his brother David to join the band as bass player. David took to
learning the bass like a duck takes to water and after learning a few
tunes from his brother there was no stopping him. It wasn’t until
about May that the band was finally formed with the arrival of Perry
Kelly, on drums. Perry fitted in immediately probably not only because
of his efficiency on drums but also because he turned up at the first
rehearsal with a big bag of beers. A few weeks later they played their
first gig at The King Alfred followed a few days later with a gig at
The Joiners selling all their tickets and bringing more in on the door.
"THE
KIKS mimic no-one. They happen to have similar qualities but mimic,
no. They have the potential to be great for the same reason as BENEVA
do [see last review]? SONGS. Bloody good songs!" [CARL SEAGER/UKBAND.NET]
"This
band has an honesty that is refreshing in today's music meat marketplace".

"This
kind of music is needed today to stem the tide of message less machined
music that is permeating the earth. Keep turning out lyrics like these
- the better part of the world will catch up and catch on. Very enjoyable
and engaging work" [MIXSPOSURE.COM]
