Leeds based hardcore punk band The Plight have just released their fantastic debut EP ‘Black Summer’. When this CD landed on my desk I though ‘oh another band that thinks they have something different to offer’ and I put it onto the CD player with not much interest. I could not have been more wrong, From the opening track ‘Clarendon’ to the final track ‘Pull The Trigger’ this EP does not give you the chance to catch your breath, with the hard angry guitars and the deep thudding drums and pounding bass and vocals that make your whole body explode you cant help but throw your horns in the air and mosh around the office (if you are in one of course). This EP is just what the music scene needs right now, a punch in the face and we don’t give a shit attitude, these guys dont pretend, they don’t need to, their music shows just what they are a take no prisoners hardcore punk band and its about time we saw one of those emerge onto the UK music scene again. ‘Black Summer’ is one of those EP’s that you instantly know is going to spend a lot of time in your CD player, its different every time you listen to it and you never get bored of it. You could try to compare them to some of the punk bands from times gone by but its not really possible, The Plight have taken the style and put their own unique twist on it and made it their own. If there is one CD you buy this week make it ‘Black Summer’
by The Plight, I can assure you your ears are in for a fantastic time,
a well deserved 10/10. |
