The conceptual idea of hAND (harmonic Assessment of Negative Dialogue) was born in the latter stages of 2003 by its original 2 founding members Kat Ward and Kieren Johnstone. Looking to create a different kind of sound the pair started off as a dance / rock duo before later pursuing and developing a heavier Prog Rock style. Early in 2006 they added a drummer to the ranks in the form of Cris Nelson who had previously been gaining experience as a session drummer for local bands.

Now a 3 piece hailing from Horsham, West Sussex, hAND consists of Kat on vocals, piano and bass, Kieren on lead guitar and Cris on drums. Together they create what is now being called Progressive Goth Rock with influences ranging from Siouxsie and the Banshee’s, Dream Theatre, Opeth, Machine Head, Killing Joke and more.

As a duo hAND released their debut E.P Chapters in July 2005 to much critical acclaim and have received rave reviews from the likes of Mick Mercer (reviewer for the melody maker among other well known music mags.) Taranis Productions, Rockstudio.co.uk, local press and fans alike. Chapters is also available to download onto your iPod via www.ipod.org.uk and is on regular rotation on SpiderPower Web Radio as well as Green Dragon Radio.

The band are currently establishing themselves in the Brighton music scene, having supported The Last Cry back in December 2005.
