With only 1 minute to go til doors the organisers were starting to break out in a cold sweat – the reason for this ? were they worried about how the event would go ? No of course not – ticket sales were very high and the few remaining tickets would be purchased by the huge queue of people waiting outside to get in. The reason for the near panic was the fact that Sikth weren’t there yet !

Gav was running about like a headless chicken trying to work out how they would get the bands equipment in once the doors had opened and the place was full of people …….. then there was a phone call and everyone was breathing a huge sigh of relief ….. Sikth had just pulled up outside the front doors of Jilly’s ! What followed was a long succession of people carrying in the bands equipment through the venue to the backstage area whilst trying to stop the crowds getting in through the front door.

Two minutes later all was ready. Quick check …..
All the bands here ? Yes,
Sound checks done ? Yes,
Everyone know where they are supposed to be and what they are doing ? Well yes (sort of).
Who do these shoes belong to on the ticket table ? Not a clue .

Then Security shout out “Clear the stairways please” everyone backs away from the entrance and it’s showtime ………….

Hundreds of eager people have waited months for this and there’s a huge buzz as they pile in through the doors, this is going to be a night to remember for so many people.

There are a huge array of bands on tonight from the unsigned ‘ Forever Never ‘ up to the giants of metal ‘Raging Speedhorn and Sikth’ and believe me there was not a disappointed person left the festival that night. The music rocked on continually throughout the night with trails of people passing back and forth between the two stages and stopping off at the bar on the way through.

The organisers were running about trying to fit in as many bands as they could in between trying to do their jobs and sort out where the mixers were for the bands backstage “ We were supposed to have some bloody mixers back stage, Speedhorn want some mixers to go with their spirits, go and bloody find some “ was said by someone ( no names !) and a few minutes later you saw someone running back to the main stage dressing area with a mountain of coke cans in their arms.

This Festival was great – well organized, great line up and some of the nicest people you could wish to meet in the audience.

The general summing up of the evening seemed to be “ Fuckin’ Awesome , Roll on Damnation 2 “

Great show Guys .
