Arriving at the Wulfrun hall at around 6:40, 20 Minutes before opening time, the queue was already round to the side of the building. We were on the 3rd row after a slight diversion from the main queue to the side entrance because the Ticketmaster machine had gone nuts, huge thanks to Kate for coming and grabbing us! So after a short wait the one support act of the night comes onto the stage, 'The Bangkok Five' was there name. Not hearing any music and just seeing there appearance I wasn?t to sure what to expect. However I was presently surprised by the music that came out. It wasn't all in all my favourite sound in the world but they got the crowd waving, clapping and screaming along. The singer was saying just the perfect things that a support act should and winning the crowd over by the end of the set. So after the stage was cleared and changed the lights went down at around 9pm but this time for 'Papa Roach'. The intro tape began and as soon as Jacoby and co walked onto the stage the entire crowd surged forward. A few seconds later the intro riff to the latest single 'To Be Loved' began which was a cue for the entire crowd to cause a jumping frenzy. Just as the last note of 'To Be Loved' rung out, in came the title track to the third album 'Getting Away with Murder'. 'I know you can sing louder than that' Jacoby screamed out and he wasn't wrong as the crowd grew increasingly louder. After asking the crowd if they liked the new album the band played several new tracks off 'The Paramour Sessions'. I wasn't really too much of a fan of some of the new tracks but after this gig I can honestly say that I am in love with the album and defiantly one of the best albums out this year so far. It seemed I wasn't alone in this as the crowd went insane for the new tracks. After the new material we got treated to my personal favourite Papa Roach track 'Dead Cell'. As soon as Jacoby screamed '1....2?.3?. Go' the crowd took this as a cue to explode several pits, a lot of jumping and of course screaming 'Dead Cell!!' at the top of their voices. Tonight on the drums Dave Buckner was looking very French with make up and a bowler hat. Despite looking like this Dave still thundered through all the tracks with extreme precision. Pleasuring our ears with all the Papa Roach tracks Jerry Horton fired through the set without one noticeable mistake. Tobin Esperance, who reminded me of a slightly thinner version of Bobby from Panic Cell, shook the room with an amazing bass sound. 'Scars' just encouraged a huge mass sing-a-long and for most the song I could barely hear Jacoby or more to the point the actual music because the crowd was that loud. Firing through tracks such as 'Broken Home', 'Not Listening' and 'She Loves Me Not' all played with amazing precision encouraged just as much of a sing-along as it did moshing and jumping. 'You better kick this shit off Wolverhampton; I want to see where my Blood Brothers are at' The crowd responded to Jacoby' wishes and went mental as the band stormed through the classic track ?Blood Brothers'. I've been to many gigs at the Wulfrun hall and the crowd is normally the best I've ever been in, but tonight was an exception. Tonight it was better than ever. The crowd was more involved through pretty much all the set. This continued as the band went into, probably there most known song, 'Last Resort'. The song was only completed by an amazing reaction of jumping, moshing and screaming. 'Thank you and Goodnight' Jacoby yells out to the sold out Wulfrun. The beginning of the 'Papa Roach', 'One more song' chants began and then evolving into a mass stamping and clapping spree. Eventually Jacoby returns on stage to start 'Roses on My Grave', a song which didn't really appeal to me ever so much on CD but again it has now become on of my favourite tracks. There was only one way to end and amazing night and that was with an amazing classic Papa Roach song, 'Between Angels and Insects'. Jacoby may as well just put the microphone down as once again you couldn't hear him over the crowd. Mid-way through the song Jacoby tells the crowd 'This is your last chance to dance' which gave the cue for everything to erupt for one last time. Going off stage with rapturous applause the band were visibly happy about the reaction they got at Wolverhampton, and I don't think there was once second in the gig where Jacoby didn't have a huge grin on his face. Jacoby then says the final words to the crowd: 'Thank you for coming, we will see you in February! Goodnight!' All in all I was really surprised at tight the band was and the stage show that the band put on. If you haven't seen Papa Roach live yet and have your doubts, then let me put you at ease and tell you that it's well worth going to see them live. One of the best live bands I have ever seen. The only thing that's left to say is thanks to Kate and Matt for getting Myself (Eamon) and my friend Jamie into the gig. See you all in February then?
