If you take all the ingredients needed make for a great British summer festival such as sunny weather, a clean environment, happy friendly people, no violence, a nice family atmosphere and not forgetting a multitude of great bands playing fantastic music and throw them into a big mixing pot, you end up with GUILFEST 2007 We have just returned from our favourite festival of the year, Guilfest, it is held at Stoke Park, Guildford and we loved every minute of our time there. There were over 20,000 people a day on the site and we were treated to such bands as Madness, Squeeze, Supergrass, The Ordinary Boys, Jimmy Cliff and many other bands covering every genre of music you can think of from the classical renditions of the Guildford Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday morning through to the metal onslaught of Reuben and several of the other bands in the Rocksound Cave. This really is a festival for the whole family, you can take children of any age with you and there is always something to please them. There is the wonderful KidZone arena with loads of things to see and do including Magicians and Storytellers and the fairground rides and craft making. All this is in a safe environment and for no extra charge either. Older children, teenagers and adults alike are safe to wander off to see some of their favourite bands on any of the seven music stages or catch the comedians in the eFestivals comedy tent. For a bit of retail therapy you could visit some of the hundreds of stalls selling everything you could imagine from clothing to jewellery and hats to chairs. Guilfest also caters for everyone when it comes to food and drink. You were able to buy Goat curry from the Caribbean food stall through to fresh organic juices and other foods and drinks from all over the world and yes this included the every popular Doner kebab ! In between all the eating, drinking and shopping we managed to actually get some work done. You will find some reviews, interviews and photo galleries from the weekend by clicking on the links at the top of this page. We can’t wait for next years Guilfest and hope to see you all there too. |
